I am a full stack developer, and had some experience trying to implement automation test for mobile and web applications. It was always hard to accomplish, not easy and also not stable at all.

Cypress is great for web developers, its 100% based on js and having some experience with js and jquery, you will be able to write your test with not much problems

Not having the support for other browsers than chrome, canary and chromium is the main disadvantage.

I haven't personally found best pattern to improve readability of the callbacks and closures. It's great once you have got used to it, but things like querying multiple aliases or wating for many requests could ressemble the familiar callback hell pyramid that could look daunting to many JavaScript developers. My organization usually deals with the website requirements given by the clients. We require to deliver all tested products so that our client can be happy and reliable on us. Cypress has been very helpful with that to us, the best part is that we can even programmatically handle the UI widgets and it also lets us take control on the network requests.
