"Effective Cohort and Rule System, Needs Better Troubleshooting"
4/5
What do you like best about Customer.io?

I like the various products you can use and the visual editing tools in Customer.io. I can edit and see the actual changes, like an in-app message, before it's set up. The ability to create buckets and schedule push notifications and EDMs to various groups based on rules and automations is very helpful. The grouping, cohort, and rule system is more simple and easier to understand compared to what I used before. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Customer.io?

Troubleshooting. We are getting issues, i.e., low deliverables and unclear why. Maybe an AI tool to help us debug or try to figure out why the drop-off occurred along the way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, Intuitive Segmentation and Ads Sync. Just Missing Native Shopify Integration"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Customer.io?

Customer.io is fast and ready to handle big amount of data with ease. Easy to create segments for newsletters or send them to Google Ads and Meta Ads. Easy to work with Webhooks and UI is very intuitive. Very good integration with AI Assistant which can quickly help you go through several settings or gather some info like list of your used attributes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Customer.io?

There is no native integration with Shopify or any other Ecommerce platform. Sure, it can be managed via Webhooks but it's not convenient plus you can't see all the historical purchase data in one place and create segments based on CLV for example. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Segmentation with a Steep Learning Curve"
5/5
What do you like best about Customer.io?

I really appreciate the advanced behavioral segmentation in Customer.io. The fact that I can build dynamic segments that instantly update the moment a user completes a specific action is incredible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Customer.io?

To be completely honest, the learning curve is quite aggressive right at the start, and the platform feels completely overwhelming if you don't have a background in data-driven marketing tools. The initial onboarding phase was honestly a bit intense. It took us about three weeks to fully dial in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An honest review from a 3 year user."
5/5
What do you like best about Customer.io?

Customer.io keeps up with the changing landscape. Even as a highly technical developer, I’m continually impressed by their know-how and how well they understand customer needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Customer.io?

Nothing to dislike, which is why we chose Customer.io. It used to involve long wait times for releases, but even that has been cut down to just weeks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Customization, Excellent Support"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Customer.io?

I greatly appreciate the ability to easily manage events and user behavior to customize flows with Customer.io. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Customer.io?

Everything is correct, I think what could be improved is the Deliverability Hub, which doesn't seem very precise at times. I also think that the tool may seem complicated at first glance because it is comprehensive but complex. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Revolutionized Email Marketing with Data-Driven Automation"
4/5
What do you like best about Customer.io?

I love how data-driven Customer.io is and appreciate the new AI feature that makes it incredibly easy to use. The automation flows are simple to create, and with the new AI agents, it simplifies the process even more. Integrating and sending hyper-personalized emails is straightforward, making campaign management efficient. The initial setup was very smooth, as our data could flow in seamlessly, allowing quick campaign setup that stays live without requiring frequent adjustments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Customer.io?

I feel that the MCP server should be able to create campaigns so we can enable campaign creation automatically with integrating with the Slack workflows. The automated campaign creation, if integrated via MCU server, would allow us to create a work from Slack, which will be triggered for campaign creation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful Email Campaign Management but Needs Simplified UX"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Customer.io?

I like the flow control in Customer.io and being able to see if customers have opened emails and check conversion rates. It lets me know if people are actually reading what I'm sending out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Customer.io?

The site is incredibly complicated. It's very hard to see where I need to get the information that I want. Very hard to understand how the site works in the beginning. It's kinda complex and not simply laid out. As a non-programmer, I wish there was something more user-friendly. The initial setup was actually quite difficult. The site did not verify my site very well, and I actually had to contact customer service to get it to work properly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible Tech Stack Fit with Improving Reporting and New Agentic Features"
4/5
What do you like best about Customer.io?

Super flexible with our tech stack, adaptable. Always improving reporting features. Great to see agentic features being introduced. Also allows in-app push, SMS etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Customer.io?

Agentic features need some work, I find the native agent to be quite slow and claude mcp is more performant. Pricing expansion is quite aggressive and requires a lot of attention to keep in check. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Event-Driven Automation Revolutionized Our User Engagement"
4/5
What do you like best about Customer.io?

I appreciate Customer.io's unmatched flexibility for event-driven automation and its developer-friendly tooling that lets our team move quickly. It's great that we can map deeply into our product’s user events to build highly tailored, behavior-based workflows without heavy engineering lift. The platform gives us both power and control, allowing us to orchestrate complex messaging across email and in-app channels, test variations easily, and maintain strong data compliance all in one place. The robust event tracking and extremely flexible workflow builder, along with its well-documented APIs and SDKs, are big wins for us. The initial setup was straightforward and developer-friendly, with clear documentation that helped us connect our backend services and build basic onboarding workflows quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Customer.io?

The workflow builder can become cumbersome when building very complex, multi-branch logic—it gets visually cluttered, and version control or easy rollbacks would make large-scale changes less risky. We've also noticed that event payload debugging could be more intuitive; diagnosing why a specific trigger didn't fire often takes more digging than expected. Additionally, some of the advanced reporting and analytics feel geared more toward marketers than developers—we'd benefit from deeper technical insights into event throughput, latency, and API performance. The learning curve for team members new to the platform is also steeper than some alternatives, especially when setting up custom identity resolution and account-level targeting.
