What problems is Curling IO solving and how is that benefiting you? As a volunteer Draw Master and Board Member at the Calgary Curling Club I am in charge of our evening league registrations. We have used Curling I/O for the past 5 seasons and it has streamlined our registration process and led to faster and more accurate data gathering from our members. The developers clearly understand the business of curling. They keep improving the application based on user feedback and requests. I’ve suggested a number of enhancements that would benefit my curling club, and they’ve worked with me to implement most of them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Curling IO? It isn’t always intuitive for non-tech users, and some of our more senior members need extra support when navigating the site. That said, the application has improved significantly in this regard since its inception many years ago, and the developers seem open to suggestions for further enhancements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering Curling IO: If you’re looking for a low-maintenance way to manage curling activities, CurlingIO is a solid choice. Since many provincial curling associations use this software, it has a familiar look and feel right away. There is a bit of a learning curve before you feel comfortable with all the features, but the user manual is strong and genuinely helpful—both for curlers and for the people managing the site. And because most clubs rely on volunteers, it isn’t always realistic for each club to maintain and improve its own systems. CurlingIO helps address that by working collaboratively with club managers. I’ve also found that the developers are willing to take the time to identify priority improvements and work with users to get them implemented, which supports steady, ongoing improvement. For example, last fall I suggested allowing management to add practice ice to the calendar (not just league games), and that update was in place early in the season. At that time, since CurlingIO wasn’t able to deliver a similar product, I built most of the functionality that now exists in CurlingIO (except for online payments) on our website. The downside was that I had created a one-off solution that wasn’t easily expandable to other curling clubs, and it also required a knowledgeable person to maintain it. After I moved in 2020, I took on the registration and website responsibilities at my new club in 2022. Our members were already registered with CurlingIO, but we weren’t using it to its full potential. Over the past three years, I’ve leveraged its web, registration, events, and scheduling features to manage our club’s curling activities. While it isn’t always intuitive for the occasional user, it has made our operations easier to manage overall, and it doesn’t require webmaster-level knowledge to maintain. This past season, we fully implemented the product, and I believe it contributed to our club’s 26% membership growth, thanks to the straightforward web presence and the ease of registration.
