This allow me to work within an ecosystem that is familiar and powerful, while also leveraging Cube features such as fetching and publishing in tandem with Excel formulas, AI chatbot, and flexibility on the starting point for preparing reports. Integrations work seamlessly and support is highly responsive and knowledgeable. **What do you dislike about Cube?** What I dislike most about Cube is the slight learning curve with the UI, especially in the sidebar and the web app. It feels like users with coding experience, or familiarity with other financial applications, will get up to speed faster than those whose experience is mainly limited to Excel or QuickBooks. **What problems is Cube solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cube helps solve the problems of clunky monthly processes and fully manual ad-hoc reporting. I really appreciate being able to start reports in different ways—manually, from the sidebar, or using AI—and then save ranges to automate parts of the process. It saves me time and stress, and it lets me refocus my energy on other important priorities. ### 2. While it’s a solid package overall, it lacks certain reporting capabilities that we wanted and needed. Cube was able to integrate with Appfolio via an API and transform the data into usable, visible, tangible data points, which has enhanced the way we work with and understand our data. That’s not even mentioning the amazing AI tool and the Excel interface. **What do you dislike about Cube?** Dislike is a strong word, but like any other software there is upkeep and maintenance. But that is normal and very easy. **What problems is Cube solving and how is that benefiting you?** Visibility into your data points is critical for any business, and Cube has given us the ability to access that data in near real time in the way we want to see it—by levels, combinations, time periods, and more. We’ve also leveraged its AI capabilities and flexible data structure to build out custom KPI dashboards that align with how we track performance. ### 3. I like it's simple integration with Google Sheets and Excel, and that we can still use a lot of our existing spreadsheets along side Cube vs having them become obsolete. **What do you dislike about Cube?** I dislike how much slower it is in Google Sheets than Excel. I don't think the internal team spends as much time optimizing or testing Sheets to be as quick as Excel. To check what you uploaded to Cube you have to manually fetch the same data back out to verify it was uploaded correctly, vs having a simpler way without Cube to validate. When you have formatting issues with large data sets and there are import errors, Cube does not always show you what cells are the issue (for us it was hidden rows with un-needed data, but we had to find that on our own). **What problems is Cube solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cube is allowing us to compare Budgets vs Forecasting vs Actuals, as well as give department heads, project leads and client leads their own P&L detail which was a manual process previously or would have required giving them access to QBO. This allows our team to not only get their own data on their own, but also allows them to drill down to see detail with QBO. Cube is also giving us time before we move to an ERP. We can flat file in time tracking data now see project profitability which was previously not visible. While we need an ERP in the next few years, Cube has a faster implementation time than a full ERP and provides useable data that may mean we don't need an ERP or will allow us to extend our timeline until we do need an ERP (even then we may still want to keep Cube depending on any ERP's native data reporting). ### 4. The reporting capabilities we’re currently working toward are going to give leadership quicker, more concise information at their fingertips, without finance having to track down details every time someone needs a report. That will save a lot of time while also ensuring leadership has clear visibility into up-to-date financials. Cube performs incredibly well in this area. We are learning more in regards to the integrations that Cube is capable of, and excited to see how this works with our systems. We also are super excited with the evolution of the AI Analyst. Being able to request specific reports and having them auto create is amazing! The support we received from Ashif was priceless. Our company has matured through this process and the patience Ashif showed for us was very much appreciated. **What do you dislike about Cube?** The only dislike I would say is that the system is slower when using Google Sheets vs. using Excel, and our company works primarily from Google Sheets. **What problems is Cube solving and how is that benefiting you?** The primary problem Cube solves is putting reports at leadership’s fingertips. Being able to set up dashboards that are customized to each viewer will be a huge benefit for finance. It should also reduce the constant back-and-forth and chasing down manual reports for different scenarios. ### 5. We can generate custom reports using our data for partners and lenders in minutes—something that used to take almost a week. **What do you dislike about Cube?** I’d say this is a minor dislike: the AI analyst can be a little slow when retrieving information. However, the MCP makes up for it, so that’s really the only negative thing I can think of. **What problems is Cube solving and how is that benefiting you?** We’re currently using Appfolio, and that’s where our data lives, but the API connection to access that data isn’t easy to use. With Cube, our data sits with an AI-powered agent that understands finance, paired with the MCP. This gives us the opportunity to interact with our data in ways that weren’t possible before. ### 6. I can drilldown to see details behind the numbers which is so helpful for analysis. The system imports NS data daily automatically which makes updates timely. The 90 days of activation period was supportive and when asking questions the support and implementation teams address effectively. **What do you dislike about Cube?** If the monthly subscribing pricing could be lower it would be perfectly GREAT! **What problems is Cube solving and how is that benefiting you?** Importing data, running reports timely, analyzing programs profits, drilling down for details behind, creating dashboards, AI analysis etc. all of these are huge helps! ### 7. We went from updating 50+ Excel files and managing 1.75 million formulas across a 200-tab workbook to filling in two fields on one template, which gives us back about 200 hours a month. Store managers now approve their P&L through a link instead of signing printouts, all 180 locations report from the same numbers, and ad-hoc questions get answered the same weekend the data loads rather than waiting on IT. It sits on top of our existing spreadsheets and our database setup, so we didn't have to throw out the tools we already knew. **What do you dislike about Cube?** The biggest downside is that fetch times can occasionally run longer than I'd like, but whenever I've run into issues, the support team has jumped on quickly and worked with me to find a better solution. **What problems is Cube solving and how is that benefiting you?** Monthly P&Ls, Data Integration, Data Validity, Single Source of Truth ### 8. I also find scenario duplication, merges, mapping tools, and alternate tags and reporting within Cube very valuable. The initial setup of Cube was fairly simple, as long as you understand your data or have a data SME involved in the implementation. **What do you dislike about Cube?** I find some parts of Cube could be improved. I wish it had more intuitive overwriting capabilities or could make suggestions to ease using updates, like moving forecasted items between dimensions without loading zeroes and adding them to a separate line. Also, the ability to merge or fetch only specific parts of a range or scenario, similar to the publish function, would be great. I also want the option to have 'include drilldown details' toggled on for scenario duplication, merging, or creation. Lastly, it would be beneficial to customize mapping rules and conventions without having to rely on Cube support. **What problems is Cube solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cube provides version control, a standardized source of truth, decentralized updates, audit logs, and automation. It enhances efficiency, speed to info, and permissioning of financials. It streamlines forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and scenario analysis. ### 9. That said, it would be helpful to have more granular, precise control over how accounts roll up. **What problems is Cube solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cube provides a platform that we were able to train on quickly and implement across our organization. The main benefit is a quicker turnaround for our staff during the forecasting and budgeting process. ### 10. We have a complex architecture in our COA and Cube is able to absorb all of it **What do you dislike about Cube?** I can't think of something. The customer service was changed recently I think but even after the change it is still top notch **What problems is Cube solving and how is that benefiting you?** combines all the softwares that we need to combine like Netsuite and Tableau.
