## About CrowdSec
CrowdSec is an open-source security stack that detects aggressive behaviors and prevents them from accessing your systems. Its user-friendly design and ease of integration into your current security infrastructure offer a low technical entry barrier and a high-security gain. Once an unwanted behavior is detected, it is automatically blocked. The aggressive IP, scenario triggered and the timestamp is sent for curation, to avoid poisoning & false positives. If verified, this IP is then redistributed to all CrowdSec users running the same scenario. By sharing the threat they faced, all users are protecting each other.

## CrowdSec Reviews
 ### 1. Excellent and seamless security solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victor D. | Investment Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2021

**What do you like best about CrowdSec?**

The open-source core makes it very transparent and secure: it does not entirely anchor you.
Modern and way more effective alternative to Fail2ban.

**What do you dislike about CrowdSec?**

Not much to be said: still may be missing a few plug-ins for some CMS, but it already covers most use cases!

**Recommendations to others considering CrowdSec:**

Easy to try, difficult to quit :)
Just ask the community of users + the support team

**What problems is CrowdSec solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can quickly secure our web apps and services thanks to the power of the crowd :)
It helps us prevent data breaches, DDOS,...
We highly recommend it to our partners to secure their assets

 ### 2. Fail2Ban 2.0, but much better

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2021

**What do you like best about CrowdSec?**

CrowdSec is very powerful when you have only one machine to protect. But if you have to preserve much more devices in your infrastructure, the best feature is the ability to centralize the decisions, and thus, CrowdSec does native mitigation of the banned IPs. In addition, the scenarios system is easy to learn and strong.

**What do you dislike about CrowdSec?**

Nothing, really. This software does its work very well!

**Recommendations to others considering CrowdSec:**

Do not hesitate to interact with the developers, they are very reactive on Gitter.

**What problems is CrowdSec solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CrowdSec was helpful against DoS and brute force attacks. The traffic was instantly impacted, just with half of our machines equipped.

 ### 3. Crowdsec is a real good solution to secure your services

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** JC D. | CIO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2021

**What do you like best about CrowdSec?**

It looks like Fail2ban on steroids, and is indeed a very interesting solution as it allows you to benefit from a wide list of "bad clients" to ensure your service is available to your real clients! Easy to install and configure, it can be running in just minutes and gives you a grea insight on what is happening.

**What do you dislike about CrowdSec?**

Nothing seems to be a problem here! It just works!

**What problems is CrowdSec solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Security is a real problem these days, and this solution protects you from different attacks and works on a global level to make sure you know the bad guys. Our services are better protected and more available while not blocked by bogus connections.

 ### 4. Highly Innovative

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gilles B. | Gerant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2021

**What do you like best about CrowdSec?**

They have come with a highly innovative offering that has no comparable on the market. This idea of sharing the thread data through a web of users is so elegant that I do not understand that it not largely deployed. IT may well be a megatrend in the sense that cybersecurity could use its architecture in the future.

**What do you dislike about CrowdSec?**

Hard to say since I haven't used all the tools made available by this product yet.

**Recommendations to others considering CrowdSec:**

many contents and supports on different platforms are available

**What problems is CrowdSec solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It accelerates the decision-making in case of cyberthreat

**Official Response from Jean Devaux:**

**Reviewed by:** Daniel G. | Director IT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2021

For an open-source software solution, this was easy to get started with

**What do you dislike about CrowdSec?**

The community idea is excellent but I think more involvement and partners are needed

**What problems is CrowdSec solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Needed an opensource solution that wasn't going to take forever to master that could provide a decent amount of features without breaking the bank

**Official Response from Jean Devaux:**

> Hi Daniel. Thanks for your comment. We are building the partner network as we speak, more info soon on that matter.

 ### 6. Crowsec is an easy to use Intrusion Detection System IDS

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2021

**What do you like best about CrowdSec?**

I love that it's developed in GOLANG and makes this firewall fast and efficient. I love that language, But the more important is that the firewall works as an effective layer of protection. It's easy to use, and the dashboard is friendly and clean.

I can't find any part of this product that I don't like

Please note that I'm a new user. We will see when the time comes

**What problems is CrowdSec solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Application protection with applications running in containers, The more important part is the Observability that this firewall offers to me

**Reviewed by:** Cristian N. | Solution Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2021

**What do you like best about CrowdSec?**

I particularly appreciate Open Source (no hidden gimmicks) and the collaborative approach that makes it a quite strong yet cost-effective solution. One can implement the system without deep knowledge of security and attacks, given the already available scenarios and bouncers. But the most interesting I find their community IP blacklist, blocking the attacks before it even happens on your system, nice!

**What do you dislike about CrowdSec?**

Still evaluating but found nothing tricky yet

**What problems is CrowdSec solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I manage a few websites, mainly apache / php framework. Crowdsec is "buying me some tranquility" as I cannot spend a lot of time mitigating threats. Now, Crowdsec is doing it for me ...

**Reviewed by:** Dyllan P. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2021

**What do you like best about CrowdSec?**

The herd immunity and sharing of information regarding "bad-agents" between customers is a first in this area, and it's highly effective.

**What do you dislike about CrowdSec?**

Nothing to dislike except perhaps that more people should be using it.

**What problems is CrowdSec solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We spend less time monitoring and configuring server security with outdated tools, which means our ecosystem is more secure and we have time to focus our attention on other areas of our business.

I haven't ran into an downsides to using Crowdsec.

Crowdsec is currently being used to block bad actors from accessing my personal file sync server and VPN service. I've also recommended to clients that I work with to use Crowdsec for internet-facing applications.
