"Using Crowdin to translate our SaaS"
What do you like best about Crowdin?

AI translation suggestions are making my life easier and faster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

Have to click on two buttom to "Save" my new translations - not intuitive at all.

1. Select String

2. Save

I would prefer as on Google drive the Save by default and the ability to come back to the previous version of a word translation if necessary Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Versatile and usable, but with room for improvement"
What do you like best about Crowdin?

What I like is the possibility to combine all sorts of filters, e.g. segments translated but not confirmed, by a certain user etc. This good for working together with other translators on a project. It also makes it possible to find segments meeting very specific conditions which is good for reviewing things during projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

There are three things I find irritating:

1. When I work in a list of segments that results from a combination of filters (e.g. segments translated but not confirmed, last changed by a certain user etc.), and I save a different translation for a segment, or confirm a segment, that segment will drop out of my list as soon as I go one page forward or back. If I later want to change something in that segment, it can be very hard to find it again, especially if I don't translate one specific text but segments from a number of text files that I want to check for consistency. I would like a setting that enables me to retain my original list of segments regardless of edits or status changes until I explicitly leave that list. Ideally, it would be possible to save such a list so I could interrupt work on those segments and resume on another day.

2. When I go through segments that have already been translated (e.g. pre-transalted per machine translation), make changes and confirm a segment, it doesn't confirm the changes I made but the existing text. Confirming my changes required an extra step. This doesn't make sense to me - if I make changes, of course I want to save/confirm my newest version and not the one I found and saw the need to change.

3. The display options are nice, but the colour themes are a bit 'pale' - I haven't found a setting that allows me to make the active segment stand out more. As things are, every time I return to the translation screen (after I've looked something up elsewhere), I need to make a conscious effort to scan the screen in order to find the active segment. If I could set screen colours individually and save my own colour schemes or layouts, the eye would automatically be directed to the active segment. This would make it much easier for me to work in Crowdin, especially if I have to interrupt frequently to look things up in dictionaries, legal texts or compare the text to the relevant UI. Making finding your place on the translation screen as easy as possible would save me quite some energy in the long run. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Crowdin: a good tool for managing translations"
What do you like best about Crowdin?

I like the possibility to create Tasks with clear information easily visible, such as wordcount, due date, languages needed. Great that you can add screenshots too, for context.

Also you can select whether your translations will be performed by your own translators or external ones.

The nice overview shown in the Board to see progress of single Tasks.

The integration with Figma adds value to the tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

It's not super user-friendly/intuitive at the first sight. You need to actively use it quite a while before become familiar with the tool.

A few developers in our organization find it hard the first time to follow your guidelines to open Tasks.

Tasks have to be opened one by one for each language, while we could have a single Task in multiple languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great tool with really all the functions we need and even more"
What do you like best about Crowdin?

Simple interface, easy configuration, extensive features, and super easy integration of AIs and external systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

So far, I really haven't discovered anything yet. Whenever we thought that a certain function was not available, we briefly read the documentation and realized: The function does exist after all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy workflow to manage translations in your application"
What do you like best about Crowdin?

I like to have one central place to manage the translations of our application. We are multiple teams with different backgrounds but we all quickly learned how to use Crowdin.

We have some custom integetrations running with the API or usage of plugins. This gives us the flexibility to use crowdin in a way that that follows our workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

Sometimes the navigation can be overwhelming. Getting from the project view, over tasks to the specific translation files and keys took some time to get used to. But I got used to it, learned it and now thats not a problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Translating the UI of a web app"
What do you like best about Crowdin?

Crowdin is definitely useful to coordinate the translation efforts of a distributed team.

Using it is definitely not complex and onboarding of new team members pretty straightforward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

- having to check email and get the verification code in order to login is pretty unconvenient

- navigating the interface may sometime be a bit confusing

- having to click "Save" instead of relying on autosaving/versioning

- TM and MT suggestions are often not diplaying Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great localization tool—hope it gets even better!"
What do you like best about Crowdin?

1. Specialized management, highly efficient.

2. Quickly filters out terms that need revision. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

1. For copy submitted by our developers, I can’t see the context, making it hard to translate appropriately based on product design.

2. Lacks a one-click global edit feature to modify translations of a specific term across all instances.

Feature request:

Could Crowdin provide an option to let AI pre-translate all pending texts first (leveraging the glossary/term base), followed by human proofreading? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Greatly simlify process of managing internatiolization in our product applications"
What do you like best about Crowdin?

Includes powerful AI powered set of tools to translate strings with variables even for non-native speakers.

Can be easily integrated into our version management tool (bitbucket) .

We also can invite translation editors - native speakers from outside internal team and allow them manage selected translations.

Great customer support in case of any questions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

If integration fails (in case of account deactivation) we haven't got any warnings about that. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Nice UI, awkward API, broken client libraries, and no response from support"
What do you like best about Crowdin?

The UI for translators and proofreaders is nice and has many features that make it easy to crowdsource contributions from our existing community. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Crowdin?

The native client libraries does not seem to be used or maintained and support is non-existent—we file tickets and they go weeks without update, even after escalation through our account representative. Similarly, Github has multiple recommended integration paths and the docs are confusing about why or when to choose different options, making it hard to get started. Different integration paths have non-obvious limitations or shortcomings. Overall, the DX is very poor and it does not seem like a product intended for technical users.
