## CrashPlan SMB Reviews
  ### 1. 3 reasons to switch to iDrive

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henk-Jan B. | bestuurslid, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 14, 2022

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Once installed it works in the background

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

it isn't intuitive: you can't see what is ready and what must be done

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The restore option is much better then at the start: now you can restore files and maps, at the beginning only files

  ### 2. Worked great, was dependable and allowed restoration of vandalized data.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I loved that I could backup my data to a friends in another state and they could do the same to mine.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

There was really nothing I didn't like it did a great job. I was able to retrieve older versions of files and data from machines that were no longer in service very easily. When they eliminated the peer to peer backups we stopped using the product and found another solution.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

They have dropped their end users and gone only business. Does this mean they couldn't handle the load, or were only focused on the business segment? Were the end users taxing their systems in such a way that they could not keep up?

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Create offsite and onsite backups for a small number of machines and a server that could be reliably restored from several backup versions.

  ### 3. Product changed, features removed, support gone downhill

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 25, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I guess that it is better than nothing.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Removed ability to get restore disks. Confusing configuration options spread between desktop and online.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Look elsewhere.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secondary offsite online backups for my business.

  ### 4. Crashplan Pro: Mostly Cons

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Natalie R. | IT Support Engineer II, Internet, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The backup solution itself is reliable, rarely does the database fail.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The admin panel is extremely hard to use. Unreliable client connection. Little troubleshooting help.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CP is our backup solution, we use it to backend manage all client endpoints.

  ### 5. Fast backup

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sherwin L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

It’s fast backing up stuff and security

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Need a lot configuration and not easy for fist usage

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Continuous backup

  ### 6. I love Crashplan and would like to recommend it but they abandoned the consumer market

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The seamless back-up, the free option to back up between friends, the encryption, the versioning, the ease of data recovery, the user interface

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Java only application, the fact that they abandoned the consumer market

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Recommended for companies but not for consumers anymore. CrashPlan has warned all consumer users that their support will expire.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to configure and forget back-up solution. Always there, always working. And when disaster strikes, you have the ease of mind that you will get it back.

  ### 7. Code42 crashplan sort of works

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tanim I. | Design Physicist, Research, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I like that there is a backup of my work data.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The GUI is terrible, I cannot query the progress of my backup. What is wrong with building a tool on top of rsync?

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Consider using rsync before deciding on whether you want to use Code42 products.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provides a frequent, regular backup of all work-related data, in case work machines die.

  ### 8. The great service and idea with a horrible Java client

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Toni L. | Co-founder / Chief Systems Architect, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 18, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

You can use multiple locations, including their servers for backing up. You can backup to your own desktops or even servers. You can even backup, encrypted, to a friend's computer.

And when not using their servers but your own, it's completely free.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

While everything else is amazing, the application itself (the client) is a completely horrible Java software that eats up way too much RAM, is ugly and slow.
It's also extremely hard to use if you need to backup a lot of data. An end-user should never have to open a console in an application to increase it's virtual memory limits. But here you do.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

If you are backing up a lot of data, increase the RAM limits first.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed the ability to backup a lot of data between machines as well as to external servers.

  ### 9. Crashplan

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Teresa P. | Information Technology Support Analyst, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Crashplan has a great "set it and forget it" feature with it. Simply install the program, have it back up an user's profile and go on about your days until you need it again. No worrying about nightly backups or anything of the sort.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The pricing. It is pretty expensive for what it is. My company only purchased 25 licenses because of the price and we just ended a year testing phase.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Crashplan is great but there are other backup plans out there, which eventually, our company decided to go with another provider.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automatic backups with no worrying whatsoever. We know that the user's documents, desktop, etc is backed up automatically to the "cloud" so there are no worries to be had.

  ### 10. Not the Best

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Easy for end users to use. Works reliably.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

File-level backups and overall management is difficult.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

End point backups.
