## CrashPlan SMB Reviews
  ### 1. It just works

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David P. | Director of Information and Educational Technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Configure it and forget it! If there is a problem (rare) you can set up automated notifications that will let you know when a backup has not been completed within your specified time frame. The defaults for user backup generally catch all of the settings and data that needs to be backed up, but these can be tweaked for special situations, such as users who store critical data in unconventional places. The restore process is easy and intuitive. Software updates are easy and largely automated. This is really nice for remote users at distance sites.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Some functions, such as purging obsolete archives, take a little time to figure out, partially because it may be several months between the times you need accomplish these.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

The product works really well. Their technical support is excellent. The price is reasonable.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have confidence that all of our users have an up-to-date backup. Code42 simplifies upgrading users to new computers. All we need to do is setup a new workstation, do a restore, and they're back in business. The users can continue to use their current machines while we are setting up a new one.

  ### 2. Useful software to backup any laptop or desktop

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rhonda C. | Sales Advocate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Configurable to my needs per device, I have all my desktop information backed up regularly, checking changes every hour, but my laptop is only being backed up when plugged up to power or with more than 70% of battery with scans every 12 hours. I did a PC refresh 4 months ago and was really easy to switch my old machine to the new one just restoring the code 42 backup.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

No buts for me, everything runs smoothly for me.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Spend 10-15 minutes configuring it to your needs, it's worth it in the long run.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up, switching between laptops.

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

It's really secure backup software. To have a backup I need to be in my company campus or be connected to the VPN. For backups, my data goes to company servers, that way there is no way my data could be stolen while doing backups.

It can dry your battery while you are on the road unless you set a high threshold to stops backups.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

As a user, just install it and it just works, there is nothing you need to do

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up my MacBook so far. If my hardware ever fails I could easily restore all my data.

If my computer gets lost, stolen or I spill coffee over it I know my data is still going to be safe since everything is backed up

**Reviewed by:** Aaron G. | Team Leader, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Restoring from a backup is easy and instead of losing all the data on your computer you only lose the one that is not backed up yet.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

It can dry your battery if you don't change the default settings

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Set the battery settings to 50% so it does not interfere with your usage when the battery is getting low.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up our computers and restoring the data to a new computer when a laptop gets damaged.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carolina S. | Wireless Network Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

You can set backup times, CPU restriction, bandwidth limit, and some other customization settings, It works as intended so nothing more to ask for a backup solution.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Default settings are not the most user-friendly but backup friendly, you could be working and a backup being executed at the same time unless you change your settings.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Change the defaults so it does not backup while you work.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backs up my laptop in case it happens something hardware related or it's stolen.

  ### 8. Easy and Secure Cloud Backups

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim D H. | Project Development Manager, Financial Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

It is a simple and safe way to create backups in the cloud, in our company, we use different storage and data protection services in the cloud, but I am encouraged to give a review about Code42, since it is a very functional tool, Security is one of its strengths, we have tried different external attacks, based on DDOS, to check the vulnerability of the files protected with Code42, and it has been impossible to break their protection.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The interface is a bit simpler, you can work a lot on it, actually in an application like this, it is not so primordial, but if you give more importance to this part, you can help make it more intuitive and easier to use, I do not like that the processes of backups can take a long time, we have high speed SSD disks to perform this type of tasks, but also, these processes take a long time to complete.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

backup copies of files and databases, in the cloud, protected with the highest security, thanks to this we can have access to these documents, after performing different maintenance tasks on our servers, quickly, without the processes of maintenance may be affected.

  ### 9. I know I'm protected if my machine fails

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cristina C. | Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I have not needed to use the software yet, I know that backups are made daily but not I'm blessed that I still have my first machine, however, some of my friends are not as fortunate as I am, so I know that in case a spilled coffee or theft happens my data is secure.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Honestly, I can't find a downside I have my machine plugged in almost all day so no battery impact for me and that's the only thing that my friends dislike

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup, backup, backup, you can never be too safe. The price of not having it is 0... until you need it and whatever the price is... Is always too expensive.

  ### 10. Can't live without this backup software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Montuet K. | Sales Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I'm not the most careful person ever and I'm kind of clumsy so when I finally spilled the coffee over my MacBook I started to panic, hardware is easy to replace, especially if it's insured but I was dreading the moment of turning the new machine to see how much work I needed to redo. Answer almost 0, thanks to Code42 all my documents were exactly as before except for the word document I was working.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

It only syncs when connected to the corporative VPN or inside of one of our office campus.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Don't forget to sync, it could be a lifesaver

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup and restore a backup, simple and useful as it is.

  ### 11. Non annoying backup and restore solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fadwa A. | Wireless associate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Easily configurable, It's really easy to setup backup conditions so it only occurs when you are not using the pc or you are not using it in an intensive manner.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I'm happy with the backup solution, so I like everything

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

It just works as intended without annoying you, great solution

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up my PC in case a hardware failure, stolen or lost situation ever happens to us

  ### 12. A high level protection system for your websites

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** caroline d. | website developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Code42 provides protection on all platforms for your websites. It allows you to backup data on any device anywhere. It sends instant emails regarding all the important information and reports. It provides universal networking too.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Code42 can be difficult to manage especially for beginners and non-technical users. Its web interface does not work properly on all browsers. The admin console lacks a lot of features too.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Code42 is easy and quick to install. It provides automatic updates too. It provides file compression and duplication. It has compatibility with mobile too. It allows file restoration based on time and size.

  ### 13. Great for backups as well as hardware swaps

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Runs in background - no muss no fuss maintenance

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Can eat up cpu time when running in the background - can hinder use of large files while its working

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

easy to deal with hardware swaps and hard drive wipes when viruses infect the machine - which happens more often than you think

  ### 14. Code42, A little Pricey but Excellent Software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom D. | Director of Infrastructure, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The management console for CrashPlan is well designed and easy to use. Easy to see the backup status of all your client devices, in addition to a nice built in reporting tool. Deployment with a 3rd party management tool was a snap!

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

We've been a long time customer but it is a bit on the pricey side, could make it difficult to become a customer in the edu space. We run all services on prem, their cloud services are astronomical for cost.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CrashPlan has always been there when we needed it for file restores. As long as we are on top of making sure that our devices are backing up properly, we know we can get our data when we need it.

  ### 15. With code 42 our data is secure

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Toby B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Code 42 was one of the lightest software releases my team has had in a while. I love the fact that it was extremely easy to implement and extremely easy to recover/restore data whenever necessary, whether the laptop is in our corporate office or on the other side of the country.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The only drawback I have seen so far is when the endpoint is presented with large amounts of constantly changing data; however, the Code 42 team has worked very well with us in configuring settings to ensure that the backups are consistent.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

I recommend it for its economical price, it is easy to use and works discreetly.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to have better visibility on what and how often our team was being backed up.

  ### 16. CrashPlan: Easy and Customizable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

CrashPlan has been a huge part of our backup/archive processes and saves time by backing up periodically as well as making file retrieval painless. The ability to back up to both local drives and the cloud gives us more peace of mind about our data.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

My only complaint is that backing up to network drives was not the easiest to setup, but now that it's working I have flawless performance.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

When considering other backup solutions, keep in mind that CrashPlan gives you the ability to make local backup copies as well as back up to their cloud services. The best part is that CrashPlan doesn't charge you for additional drives - you can back up your files to any many places as you need!

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving backup/archiving problems with CrashPlan. One of the main benefits is having the data backed up in CrashPlan's cloud as well. This makes restoring backups quick and painless if I don't have access to the main backup drives.

  ### 17. Reliable enterprise backup with lots of possibilities

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mikael B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

- I like the fact that you have lots of choice regarding backup destinations, both multiple on-site and Code42 cloud-destinations.

- Online documentation is good.

- Customer support is good and answers quickly.

- Our, admittedly small, setup has been pretty much set-and-forget. Only administrative work has been upgrading the Code42 software on our servers and that's been uneventful.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

We haven't had many issues, really. Just a couple that spring to mind:

- The Windows desktop tray icon and associated pop-up has longstanding issues with making the pop-up window too small so that the settings icon cannot be clicked. Minor issue, of course. We're not on the absolute latest version, so this might be fixed when we get around to upgrading.

- We also have an issue where one client's backup-set is re-scanned any time the computer is rebooted. I believe this started after a major-version update of the Code42 environment. Since the backup-set is pretty large (~150 GB) this computer needs hours of work to perform this scan after every reboot.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Just keeping clients and some servers automatically backed-up in our small business. Security and reliability is important, so being able to keep encrypted backups at multiple destinations is great.

  ### 18. CrashPlan review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David Q. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Love the automatic backup feature where you can set it to always save and keep the information Im working on. You can also have it work at a specific time that works for you. So if im in the office from 12-5 I will turn it on at the time and have everything saved.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I really dislike the forced upgrade that they have which from my experience always come with bugs. I also had some tickets for troubleshooting and the support is very slow and usally takes a while to resolve with not much transparency.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Would recommend for people who wants a little piece of mind and have a easy to use streamline service.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup, knowing that there was a copy of my laptops in my basement and not needing to run two backup programs to get two destinations was a huge problem solver for me.

  ### 19. Reliable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

It runs silently in the background and constantly does differential backups, without noticeably degrading performance. The storage for our Enterprise Cloud license is unlimited, so we can back up as much as we want, and never worry about having to choose what to delete. Recovery is dirt simple via the point-and-click GUI.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Customizing the installers can be a bit cumbersome, but that has improved over the last year or so. On Linux (Mint Cinnamon 18.3), sometimes, the background process causes gnome-keyring to hang during shutdown/reboot, requiring a somewhat sluggish force-quit. Both of these concerns are pretty minor, though.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Their Enterprise customer service is quite good. If you don't understand something, talk to them, and they'll help you figure it out.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest benefit we've realized is not having to worry about users storing things on their computers, instead of in the cloud (like they're supposed to). This lets us be confident that, no matter what happens with personnel changes or hardware issues, no data will be lost.

  ### 20. Worked great, was dependable and allowed restoration of vandalized data.

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I loved that I could backup my data to a friends in another state and they could do the same to mine.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

There was really nothing I didn't like it did a great job. I was able to retrieve older versions of files and data from machines that were no longer in service very easily. When they eliminated the peer to peer backups we stopped using the product and found another solution.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

They have dropped their end users and gone only business. Does this mean they couldn't handle the load, or were only focused on the business segment? Were the end users taxing their systems in such a way that they could not keep up?

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Create offsite and onsite backups for a small number of machines and a server that could be reliably restored from several backup versions.

  ### 21. Great backup software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Miguel C. | Consulting engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Makes easy and quick backups without any hassle.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Sometimes is a little bit CPU intensive.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Just set it up and works, no extra problems bundled

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup and loss prevention

  ### 22. Cost effective and functional cloud backup solution.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ankur P. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Ease of use, security features, unlimited storage and versioning, and cost. At $10/mo/device for unlimited storage with the ability to retrieve previous versions of any given file has been a life-saver.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Large data sets can take a long time to back-up and restore; I would like to see faster transfer speeds to/from their servers.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

This product works very well, however be sure to take into account back-up and restore times for very large data sets. We use this in conjunction with nightly/weekly back-ups that are taken offsite every week. Code42 fills in the gaps, especially on our file server.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Code42 to supplement our existing local back-up solution, and it has worked quite well in that regard. Versioning has saved us on multiple occasions as has the always-running back-ups in situations where our weekly or nightly solutions weren't up-to-date.

  ### 23. Excellent Enterprise Backup solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christopher L. | Assistant Director for Desktop Systems Engineering, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The product has a clean, slick, easy to use console. Managing multiple groups with varying needs is simple and easy. The addition of the new Forensic File search has added amazing security features, adding more value to this product

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I wish the frequency of version update schedule was a little slower, but it's hard to dislike when they pack more features with each one.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Roll this out to a small group of users. Perform a few restores, play with the Forensic File search. It won't take long to see the value.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This solves our lack of institution wide backup and disaster recovery. It also helps with our Data Loss Prevention initiative. First we backup our endpoints, then we encrypt them. Having a disaster recovery measure is crucial for our environment.

  ### 24. Best Ease of Use Cloud Backup Around

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Damien D. | Business Analyst Developer, Chemicals, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The reliability and features it has. The price isn't bad as well for multiple tiers of service. Also file versioning is a HUGE bonus.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Not being able to download directly from the webpage. Also it can be confusing for users to know where their restores are. The desktop app needs some UI tweaks in my humble opinion

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Just get it. The felling of getting your files back after thinking all is lost is indescribable. You really can't put a price on that peace of mind.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backups for users who are the road a lot and for smaller customers I consult for that don't have a network infrastructure. Using it once I realized that having a reliable backup of files in the cloud is priceless.

  ### 25. Code 42 is the failsafe backup for end users laptop data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I like the ability to see all the past data that is or was on an end users laptop. This allows us to see if they deleted or lost sensitive information that could be restored

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The initial setup can be a little difficult if done on the end users machine. You need to know the port that the program is connecting over otherwise it never connects. The setup is the worse part. once it is setup though it is fairly easy to work with

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

it truly is a great failsafe of protect the en

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Employees losing or purposely deleting information off their laptop in the event of leaving and trying to cover up information they might have emailed out. It has also helped with older PSTs if they were stored on their PC.

  ### 26. Reliable and fast

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dean P. | Digital Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

From experience of other backup services, crashplan just works and backs up with no issues.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Restoring files can be a little slow via the web or app gui - would be nice to have a form of integration in finder

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

File versioning and ensuring all business files safe and sound

  ### 27. Good backup solution without hasles

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

It's easy to use, you don't even have to think about it and it works. I lost my computer once and the backup of everything was there on my replacement.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Sometimes it likes to sync my computer while i'm doing something else and the internet slows down so i have to pause it.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Do the backup in the night

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a secure backup solution without hasles.

  ### 28. Great system with easy backup

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Clay D. | Senior Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I like that it is always running in the background backing stuff up for me. I can also pause it if required.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

There really honestly isn't much I don't like.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me recover quickly from loss of computer hardware.

  ### 29. Very Fast and Easy to use Cloud Backup Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food Production | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The Cloud Backup service agent runs in the background and can be remotely administrated, allowing features like bandwidth throttling and limiting by network device (wireless adapter or WWAN adapter). The daily notifications email to the administrators helps us make sure our people are always backed up. The recovery time is very fast with choices of local server nodes.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Only issue we've had is the C:\windows\CSC folder, but we have created a solution to move this to C:\CSC and manually assign access rights to the application.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Read through the Admin console and make sure to setup accordingly.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

End User remote backup solution. Remote administration of the Code42 and reporting.

  ### 30. Couple years later and still our #1 backup choice

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ken B. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

From the beginning the assistance with the implementation and rollout was great. Our professional services were with us until we were ready to transition. We took it really slow out of caution and previous experiences with other vendors, but the rollout was probably on of the best and smoothest projects to date for us. Any issues and the code42 team has been there to assist us as best they can.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

There were some design features that we needed to adjust for. Creating custom packages, etc. However with each upgrade the product is just evolving and becoming more seamless.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Consider going full cloud. We went hybrid. Believe the improvements and features implemented now would have made us go cloud in the first place.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our main concern for implementing was for protecting our data for legal compliance. It has done that and so much more. We have been able to lock down user backups for compliance, however keep it flexible enough to the point we can address any issues and concerns.

  ### 31. Safe like a warm blanket

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** William F. | Founder/CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I've been using Crashplan for years now and recommend it to everyone I work with. The fact that it just runs in the background and there is no size limit I never have to worry about running out of space.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I dislike the new desktop app and how you can no longer see the upload speed or time remaining.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a photographer and have a need to an offsite backup as a backup plan

  ### 32. Backs up computer files in the background without having to lift a finger

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rachel R. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 04, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

It runs automatically in the background. I set it up once and now I just get (either weekly or monthly) updates about my backups. It is super easy to use and has a simple interface. If my computer crashes or breaks, I can get my files on a new machine. It gives me a worry-free feeling.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

It doesn't seem to handle a lot of data super well. It could use performance improvements.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up my files on my work computer. This was something I was required to do as an employee of oracles as a backup plan.

  ### 33. Easy and reliable backup tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

What i like best about Code42 Crashplan is that it's reliable, and easy to use for end-users and administrators. Also the support you get when having issues is quick and skilled.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

API's are not available outside beta yet.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

My opinion: Easy to setup, easy to maintain and easy to use for end-users.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a lot of service engineers outside out network, with Code42 crashplan they still get a good and complete backup without having to be in the office for it. It's easy for them to use incase they need to restore data. A big + for our company.

  ### 34. CrashPlan PROe

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael K. | Customer Support Analyst II, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

CrashPlan has been very secure and reliable for most of our users. It's automated backup system is second to none and the administrative console is great for me to help my end users. LDAP integration makes it easier for our end users to use the software on the occassions they need it without having to remember another password.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The initial automated rollout didn't go so well. Some users did not have the service automatically activated for them and this has caused some data loss as a result. I would also like to see an update to their mobile apps so that those devices can actually be backed up as well.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

This should be your first consideration. I have not seen another product quite like this.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CrashPlan has been great at ensuring our users have a backup of the information stored on their local machines. We did not have a solution for this in the past. Additionally, we no longer need to worry about utilizing synchronization services so users can access their data off of our network; just save to the desktop and away they go. This has also helped in storage costs in the server farm. Lastly, CrashPlan is handling our data retention for when employees leave.

  ### 35. Excellent Backup Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy J. | Network Analyst, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2015

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

CrashPlan is a user friendly application that allows encrypted backup of local files without a performance hit to your computer. It provides IT professionals an easy way to migrate data from one machine to another.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The CrashPlan ProE management interface could be more user firendly, but Code 42 is working to update the interface. Due to the nature of the real-time file backup, CrashPlan can struggle with large amounts of data (500GB+).

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

One big selling point to our user base was that the data is encrypted before it even leaves your computer. You and/or your organization hold the encryption keys. Code42 does not know what you are storing nor can they decrypt it.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We now have a uniform solution for faculty and staff members to backup data. In the past it was up to the individual to backup their data. Now we have assurance that the data is protected and archived. CrashPlan also allows us to easily migrate data from one machine to another.

  ### 36. CrashPlan is King

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam S. | Sim Tech Lead, Hospital & Health Care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 17, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

CrashPlan makes endpoint backup a walk in the park. It does everything it claims to do, and it does it quickly, quietly and seamlessly. The administrative console is easy to use and navigate. After the environment is up and running, maintenance and administration is minimal.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Reporting could use some enhancement, though there are additional capabilities coming in the latest release which we should be upgrading to in the near future.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Pull the trigger and then sleep easy knowing your users' data is safe and secure.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Traditionally we used network shares to store and backup data, but an increasingly mobile workforce makes that a poor process if the end user is rarely in the office to refresh changes. CrashPlan allows us to reliably secure our end users' data at any time, no matter where they are. Now we are using the Security Tools suite to help gain insight into the mobility of our company data. We are hoping to make use of the newly announced Forensic File Search in the near future.

  ### 37. simply awesome

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick V. | Infrastructure Specialist, Machinery, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

For a company like us it's simply just the way we can configure Crashplan in a way that every user is satisfied. Also the restore is working like a charm. User can restore from outside the company.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

There is actually nothing i, as an administrator, can think of that i do not like about crashplan. We are using it to our full content and satisfaction.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Easy config, online backup/restore

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Central backup/restore location for every user, even when not in the office. Easy access to your online storage and restore single files.

  ### 38. Easy backup solution and portal

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dwight B. | Senior Support Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The best feature I like about crash plan Is using the admin portal to create users and administer the application on the client machine.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I’m not sure if it works yet but if crashplan cloud make extension attributes for mobile device management.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use crashplan to solve our client backup solution for our infrastructure

  ### 39. Totally reliable, easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Legal Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2019

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

We've used this for years and it's never let us down. And that's what you want in a product like this, right?

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

There's actually nothing about this that I don't like. Overall, quite pleased.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

This is a great product. We've used it consistently and without any issues at all since our first installation.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Regular backup of critical business data. We have a small shop, so this is the perfect solution.

  ### 40. Excellent value product that offers unlimited backup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark M. | Director, Consumer Goods, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Unlimited back up, works in the background, versioning, will upload files that are open, retention of deleted files.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Sometimes stops working and you have to manually restart a system scan. On a PC restart, sometimes the backup service does not restart automatically.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Up to date off site backup. The ability to recover a file that a user has overwritten or deleted, or that has corrupted.

  ### 41. My review of Code 42 CrashPlan

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

It backs up everything on the secure cloud by default.
It's very easy to restore backups if you're switching computers.
You can set rules for auto backup and timings during which the backup runs. You can also set rules to exclude certain files/file types from being backed up.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

It only supports one machine at a time. You cannot have it running on two computers with the same account once. So in my company, we were supposed to delete the account from old computer before we could login on the new computer and restore the backup. It would be good if multiple accounts were possible.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

If you'd like a solution to keep your data securely backed up on the cloud and easy restoration of the data, you can go for Code42.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The data is always backed up. So in the event that your hard disk crashed or your computer was stolen, it's really easy to setup a new computer with your data. And it's very secure.

  ### 42. Crash Plan Pro from Code42 is a lifesaver

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

We have connected the Crash plan Pro to our server which backs up every minute, and keeps a cache for 1 minute interval to 1 year.
We have an incident where because of an outage, The Hard Drives on the File Server got damaged, so After installing the new Drives, all that I had to do is to restore back the files.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Download Speed caps 5 MB per Seconds where if you have huge data files take a lot of time to restore or backup

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

If you have any data stored locally on a server or computers, for 10$ you can have a full backup.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Offline and Cloud backup

  ### 43. CrashPlan is great! Works as intended!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel W. | Director Of Information Technology, Building Materials, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I like the automation of CrashPlan the most. I set it up once weeks ago and it...just works. I've logged in once a day to check and make sure it's running, but, I feel like I just have a self-sufficient child here - not really alot on my part to maintain it.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Upload speed seems to be quite sluggish, though, that doesn't matter once your entire dataset has been uploaded.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

I would not recommend CrashPlan for those of you with a LARGE environment with many devices to be backed up. This solution works best in it's most simple form - just a single server to back up.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easily the biggest business benefit for this software is the ease of mind knowing that all company data is stored and protected somewhere besides our building. Living in a hurricane zone, this means a lot.

  ### 44. Best endpoint backup solution for our company

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bob T. | EZ Backup Prog/Analyst, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

2 items: reasonable user experience (interface + documentation); distributed adminstration

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Being on the bleeding edge of the Cloud - there is quite a learning curve on both sides

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

There are as many backup solutions as there are reasons to backup. But if you are looking for a product that works well, that users seem to at least tolerate using (who wants to have a disaster) and is at least comparable in TCO as other solutions, do take a long look at Code42

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Biggest business problem solved: identfying which USERS (and not just devices) have their data protected
Second biggest problem: putting more control in the hands of our units

Benefits (so far): legal hold functionality

  ### 45. More expensive now but good

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The backup works well, the native app seems better than it used to be (back when I had it for home users).

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I was using Crash Plan as a home user and liked it a lot, was very disappointed when they decided to drop the home business. This doubled their prices for the same number of devices. At least they had a promotion to stay on as a small business customer for 75% off for 1 year, which I am doing. If they don't change their prices by then I will switch to a different service, because I really don't need the additional features offered to small businesses.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

I would evaluate your needs carefully to make sure Crash Plan is right for you.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's piece of mind more than anything. I don't think I've ever had to recover a file with Crash Plan. Maybe once or twice in a couple years. But I feel a lot better knowing that if my computer was stolen or the hard drive randomly crashed, I'd be able to recover.

  ### 46. by far best backup for end users

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** victor S. | Corporate Help Desk Admin, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Does the job and it does it really good. Admin portal informs what is being backed up when it was backed up as report wise. Also can setup deployments and custom installs.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

support at times can be hard to contact via their email channel. Meaning at times they will email back 2-3 days after.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

legal restores when we have to get data back for a specific date and in case of ransomware we can restore to before the event happened.

  ### 47. Using Crash Plan

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The ease with which initial setup is done and required folders are to be marked and then we can forget about crash plan.
My laptop had crashed and i did not know my crash plan had my folders backed up, saving crucial files and a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Nothing in particular, since i was part of an enterprise it was free for me, but as a stand alone user it might be expensive.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

You should definitely consider this product for backup and file recovery in your organization.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All laptops were given with CrashPlan and Healthcare was the industry i was working.

  ### 48. A one click backup tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Networking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

1. I used Code42 crashplanner to backup all the files of my laptop at work place. It's so seamless that I did not even realize that it backed up all my data.
2. It's also a great tool while you change PCs. All the data gets restored conveniently.
3. The organization of files from different PC's is also a noteworthy feature.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

While I used to connect my work laptop at places other than office, it continued backing up without my knowledge and a lot of data would get consumed. This happened without my knowledge. And I had figure out and later disable the back up feature while at places other than work location

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Backup
2. Easy migration between Windows and MacOS.

  ### 49. awesome backup software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2018

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

is user friendly , and you can use it on both windows and linux , the installation on windows is really intuitive and user friendly , the interface is easy to understand, we can do restores from the pro server and also save them on tapes and request those for lter is really amazing what you ca do with this software from your admin console , it also has good integration with other monitoring software since before crashplan has the monitoring part on it we used another software for monitoring and we never got a single issue with it at least not a crashplan related issue.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

sometimes on linux we have this issues with antivirus affecting crash plan connection or slowing down the backups .

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

if you have both windows and linux servers this will be your best option since you can manage both servers from the managment pro server and that is really good that is why we moved from evault also for scheduled backups and for manaul backups is really good and easy to administrate .

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

backup solutions for customers and business partners , when hurricanes had hit on customers office this software had saved all the data by just restoring the databases to the new servers

  ### 50. Set it and forget it

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Defense & Space | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2014

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The server end implementation of Crashplan Enterprise was fairly straight forward. The most impressive part of it is the ease of use for the end users. Backups are done without the end user noticing. It's so unobtrusive to the system and the user that most often times, customers are unaware that they have a backup solution in place.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Our Crashplan server was implemented almost 5 years ago. It requires very little attention. Admittedly, this meant that it wasn't in our "radar" as far as servers to keep a close eye on. Due to the default retention policy of accounts disabled, it continued to work until it ran out of disk space.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Purchase Crashplan as soon as possible.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Crashplan takes care of our end user data that are not stored in a file share. Endpoint backups are as important as everything else in the Data Center.
