## CrashPlan SMB Reviews
  ### 1. Great unless you have lots of files or multiple TB on an single endopint

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris K. | Systems Manager, Hospital & Health Care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Multiple platforms supported, granular configuration, ease of administration

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Chokes on file sets of multiple TB or very large file counts. Periodic re-indexing never completes before it's time to re-index again. Result: file set never completes backup. Also: would like to see support for "older" operating systems not dropped so quickly.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Great for mobile machines, and individual sets of data that don't get much above 1M files or 1TB aggregate size.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It backup / archiving. That's pretty self-explanatory, eh?

  ### 2. Crashplan

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paula C. | Director of Technology Infrastructure, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I love that you set it and forget it with this backup software. Easy to implement for our school and it just works! I can sleep better at night just knowing we use Crashplan.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I haven't found anything that I dislike at this point. Over a year in...!

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Do it. You won't be sorry, I can promise you that!

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to Crashplan we had a homegrown solution in place that never worked reliably and didn't do what we needed it to do. Now that we use Crashplan, I worry less about virus/malware/cryptolocker issues taking us down for an indefinite amount of time. Another worry before Crashplan was whether or not the backup solution we were using was working or if it had been disabled by the user (because it was a resource hog). Also, by using the ProE version I also no longer worry about storage space which used to be a constant issue for us. Having the console to be able to make sure that the backups are running is great. It also tells me a lot about my users too.

  ### 3. Full featured and very easy to use!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon M. | Senior Tech Support Specialist, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Crashplan is great for our users. Most of them never even realize they are backing up, at least until they need there files! It has saved a few of our users from catastrophic loss. I also have been very satisfied with the support I have gotten. Every issue I have had(usually minor client side issues), code42 support has responded quickly and been able to resolve the problem.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The cost is a little high, but it is insurance. I also find it hard to utilize all the features as it does take some time to figure everything out that it does. They have Legal Holds and Reporting that I have not been able to dig into to figure out if it is helpful for my organization.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Crashplan for disaster recovery. We are de-centralized with our file storage so we rely on crashplan to make sure our endpoints are sufficiently backed up. We have tried a couple of times to get users to store files on servers that are backed up, but we found that just backing up the endpoint is much easier than getting our users to change.

  ### 4. CrashPlan ProE

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeffrey G. | Senior Network Engineer, Real Estate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2015

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I love the ability to integrate it into LDAP. The ease of use for deployment of the application to a laptop and or desktop is seamless. The dashboard is very easy to use and has useful information right on the main page
Low overhead of the desktop application. I love the fact that it just backs up on a set schedule and can be throttled so that it does not use a lot of bandwidth..

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Not available for IPADs yet. As we have users that only have IPADS their data is not able to be backed up at this time. Have to resort to using ICLOUD.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Setup was a breeze. The documentation was very straight forward and if you just follow the steps it just worked. I was concerned that most companies do not lean towards using Linux however they do.
Pricing and Licensing is pretty straight forward. You get what you pay for. I feel that everyone should be using and or at least testing this product before the purchase.
They let you know what the benefits are for using the cloud vs a Hybrid solution

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I love the Unlimited Retention. i like the ability to throttle the backups so if you are on limited or metered bandwidth its not an issue.
I love the ability to integrate it into LDAP. The ease of use for

deployment of the application to a laptop and or desktop is seamless.

  ### 5. If protecting your data is important to your business - then it's critical for you!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** JP C. | MGTI Desktop Operations\Global Crashplan Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Crash Plan Pro is a great product that is simple to use - setup and maintain. It allows for a multitude of options allowing for efficient backup of corporate data while minimizing user overhead and interruption. The software runs effectively in the background while allowing for full point to point encryption for all backup transfers. It also allows clients to restore files with ease - helping to minimize requests for tape\off-site restores.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The reporting and options to pull data to help manage could be improved on later editions.
Otherwise - there is not much to complain about - this is a great product. Simple enough to do what it needs to do - and that's the key.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

I highly recommend this product - regardless if you decide to use their cloud services or appliances. The product is very stable and easy for both admins and clients to use. It does what it needs - and its real time protection is clearly thought out.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A user with Crash Plan installed- I know and feel confident that their data\work and time is protected. You can replace hardware with ease - but its the loss of data or time that you cannot get back.
This has saved many of our clients that were hit with Crypto\ransom ware hits. And allowed us to restore all their intellectual capital to a new system with minimal interruption.

  ### 6. The best cloud based endpoint backup and protection against ransomware.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle M. | Executive Management Team, Construction, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Code 42 was one of the smoothest software roll outs my team has had in awhile. I love the fact that it was extremely easy to deploy and extremely easy to recover/restore data when needed whether the laptop be at our corporate office or on the other side of the country.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The only downside I've seen thus far is when the endpoint is presented with larger amounts of constantly changing data; however, the Code 42 team has been great on working with us on tweaking settings to ensure the backups are consistent.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Take into consideration the amount of bandwidth each office location has in case you need to stagger your initial deployment. For large amounts of data, it can take a little while to get the first full backup into the cloud.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-Protecting data first and foremost (crashed computers, stolen computers, malicious employees)
-Protecting against Ransomware

The data restore function has already paid for itself a few times over for our company.

  ### 7. Easy and effective continuous backup solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alan R. | Senior Manager, IT & InfoSec, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Its a set it and forget it, one stop cross platform backup solution.
CrashPlan is not only compatible with all operating systems, but its the same experience if you're using it on Windows, Mac and even Linux.
Its lightweight and does not interfere with users productivity.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Only thing I can think of is the rare hiccup when trying to make a cold archive active again.
We usually need to retrieve files from a cold archive the same and that can take a day for the process that will sync it back to an active archive.
A call to CrashPlan support to expedite the process is all thats needed though.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All our employees use laptops, this made it very challenging to find a backup solution for everyone.
Previously we used a tape backup solution and had to ensure everyone save their critical files to a central location.
Now with CrashPlan our remote workforce can keep their files on their laptop and rest assured that they will always be backed up.

  ### 8. Code 42! Must have!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rex S. | End User Technology Manager, Medical Devices, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Valuable Features:

Its as close to a "set it and forget it" application as one could get. We used the restore feature to help us migrate over 150 sales associates from a standard laptop to the Microsoft Surface.

Improvements to My Organization:

We used the restore feature to assist us in migrating 150 sales associates to new hardware. The cloud backups enabled us to restore to the new hardware. When the sales associates started up their new Surface, it had the exact same data as their legacy hardware.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Room for Improvement:

The usability of the cold storage could be a little more user friendly. It is quite a process to access the data from cold storage. I also think there should be a different licensing level for cold storage accounts.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Use it! You will not regret your decision.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We switched to enable us to have better visibility on what and how often our equipment was being backed up.

  ### 9. Great Product! Very Helpful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Garrett H. | System Administrator, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Restoring from backup. IT helped us recover a critical file

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Nothing. The supprort and product have been great

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Use it!

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up computers/servers

  ### 10. Code 42

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael S. | Service Desk Support Technician, Consumer Goods, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

They have an easy to use backup solution. They also provide top notch user support and training

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

There really isn't too much I dislike, their software works well

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

File recovery and user backups

  ### 11. Point in time backup and recovery for workstations and servers

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Allan A. | Director, Operations, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Crashplan is a reliable backup service that makes efficient use of your available bandwidth. It is a very cost effective platform allowing you to have an unlimited amount of data stored for each client without fear of going over budget.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The client is delivered as a java application which has a tendency of causing resource problems on machines that are marginal.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This solution provides our company with a piece of mind that all data is stored off site in a matter of minutes after it is created without the need or downtime of a proscribed backup window.

  ### 12. Great software, at a great price.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Ability to know that my backups are working correctly and confidence I can recover anything I need.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Web Interface is tough to teach yourself, if no guidance.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ensure's my executives and co-workers laptops are backed up. Knowing the backups are working is much relief in case I ever need to get anything back.

  ### 13. Offsite backup for sensitive information

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Easy setup and concise reports for each backup completed.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

There's not much to dislike about CrashPlan - it's a helpful and necessary service for any firm needing to guarantee the safety of their information

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

A great software to provide peace of mind that all data is preserved in the case of any equipment malfunctions or local disasters.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CrashPlan helps us mitigate the risk of something happening to our onsite backup and makes sure we don't lose or have to re-do hours and days of work.

  ### 14. A very simple endpoint backup solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Natalie P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I've set this up on roughly 70 endpoints and have been monitoring the backups for about 2 years. I've had 3 devices have failed backups because of high memory usage for larger datasets. The problem was easily and quickly resolved by either looking at the support knowledgebase or speaking with a support agent.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The only real complaint I have is because I am using the cloud-based platform MSP platform. In this platform, they are unable to ship hard drives for large restores.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping mobile laptops backed up almost necessitates a cloud solution at this point - there is no good way to make sure that laptops come on site frequently, and when they do, sync up with an onsite server. Having an agent installed on each computer ensures that whenever they are connected to the internet, we get their files and keep them protected.

  ### 15. Flexibility that works

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff B. | IT Officer, Computer Hardware, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 04, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Flexibility of architecture and backup locations. We were able to backup end points in our non VPN offices locally while backing up our high bandwidth offices to the could with centralized administration and reporting. One solution for all of our offices.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Their reporting could be strengthened. Some reporting is only available via their API so more out of the box reports would be great. Also there is some confusion about what completed backup means in their nomenclature. I would like them to move to a more distributed model for client upgrades currently all client upgrades come from the central server but with a dozen storage servers located locally in offices i would like to see the upgrade clients come from the local storage servers.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Budget extra licenses for cold storage of staff no longer with the organization to match your data retention policy

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Moving to a single vendor and product for end point backup. Centralizing administration and reporting. Covering the entire organization with a solid backup strategy. Increased version retention. Ability to backup our smaller offices to local storage and our larger offices to the cloud. Easy restoration from crypto

  ### 16. GET IT

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Hardware | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Set it and forget it. That's what everyone loves about a great piece of tech, right? The ability to have it work without any real interaction; and that's what code42 provides with this product. You don't need to interact with it, unless you need it. Even then, it's simple and non-intimidating. Select your backup to restore form the admin prompt and your only bottleneck is your ISP (which is a different topic that should be evaluated if you have to complain about it)

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

ISP is the bottleneck. Make sure your network is strong.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data loss!

  ### 17. Easy to use, secure backup. Can't go wrong.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Easy to set up, easy to retrieve. Very affordable. Secure.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Sometimes it can take a while to access the network. The restore process can take a long time, if there is a lot of data to restore.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secure backup, without worrying about hardware failures, or keeping hardware up-to-date.

  ### 18. Code 42 Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex S. | Mac OS X Systems Engineer, Marketing and Advertising, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

What I like the most about CrashPlan is that it just works and doesnt require user intervention.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

That you guys dont offer a refreal program

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Its not if your hard drive is going to fail its when its going to fail so be smart and get crashplan so its one less thing that you have to worry about. Unless your mr or mrs money bags and have the money to spend on data recovery then it is what it is. I highly recommend Crashplan to all.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving the company money from data restore. In my previous employment the company would spend thousands and thousands of dollars on data recovery and never listen to my suggestion about getting crashplan. I would suggest that we can take a proactive approach and save the company money from all the expensive data recovery.

  ### 19. Excellent software and cloud service for ease of backup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I can setup multiple computers and start a backup immediately, it also lets me adjust backup settings from a simple to use online portal. Recovery is also simple.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I haven't found a thing I don't like about the software yet

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup of individual desktops, laptops of clients.

  ### 20. Solid Backup Provider

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

It works, all the time, every time. Crashplan's reliability has been 100% for my company's needs.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Customization and profile migrations can be a bit trickier than I would like.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Go for it.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have complete peace of mind that endpoint data is now completely secured.

  ### 21. Great tool - Set and forget

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The thing i like the best is it just works. you set it up and then forget and it just does what it is suppose to do.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Sometimes it will slow down my PC when it is running. I have it scheduled now to run late in the evening

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Do it, great tool

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Have no real backup plan, and this gives me that piece of mind that my work is somewhere offsite and saved

  ### 22. CrashPlan Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samuel L. | Spécialiste TI, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 24, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

When the deployment is finish, you can forget about until you need it.
The fact that the user can recover themselves the data is also a time saver.
It's also a great protection again ransomware.
The Bandwidth management is also great.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The client side app can be a little bit sluggish a time. It use a lot of memory.
It's not cheap at all, it's depend on where you backup the data.
If you have a lot of small files, it may slowdown the app.
The de-duplication is not as expected.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a really great solution for computer backup on either cloud or hybrid solution. Like a said before it's great against ransomware.
I can sleep easier because even if there a virus or hardware failure, my users will not loose any data.

  ### 23. No nonsense cloud backup solution for small to medium businesses

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Martin M. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Crash plan pro let's you control what you backup instead of just blindly backup your user folder like some of the competitors. It's reliable and it gives you status updates on success or failure. It does real time delta based backups, so it doesn't eat up all our bandwidth.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

No much to complain about. It does what it says.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We solved our business problem of getting nightly backups to the cloud on our existing transfer speed (due to deltas we didn't have to do full backups nightly)

  ### 24. Great backup product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Easy to use and very comprehensive backup solution

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Backup only. Missing some of the data governance and cloud app data protection features that other in the space have.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Endpoint backup. Data protection for our end-users as well as a reduced strain on IT.

  ### 25. Good for simple backups

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** André L. | Operations Manager, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Free, good value for money, works with Windows or macOS

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Desktop application often fails to load and has trouble with large backups

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backups

  ### 26. Reliable and Effective Computer Backup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim C. | CEO, Solution Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Easy to setup and reliable backup protection for any system. Works well on macOS. Love the unlimited storage.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Being very picky...the user interface could be revamped to be more modern...but most of the time the app is just running in the background and not seen.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Implement this tool today.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup multiple computers and protect data from being lost in the event of a computer or hard drive crash or failure.

  ### 27. Insurance for Crashing Devices, Cryptolockers, and Carelessness.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kayle D. | IT Support Lead, Veterinary, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Crashplan provides data insurance. I feel confident that my data is backed up, available, and replaceable at all times.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Hiding the system tray isn't possible, which means my users are able to interact with the product even though we do not wish them to see or 'feel' the presence of CrashPlan.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Take the hybrid option. Self hosting was far more expensive than we had bargained for.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to Crashpaln, we had to deal with lost devices, viruses, and any other incidents with limited recourse for retrieving data. Data storage was user-centric, with the stipulation that the user thoughtfully backed up data to a secondary location, which is rarely the case.

With Crashplan, I do not need to worry about the user being cognitive of where they are storing their information. If document is lost, it can be recovered in minutes, stress free.

  ### 28. Pretty good system

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Political Organization | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

How easy it is to install on machines, and it's complient with mac and pc's

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

How you have to manually back up your information

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Lower the risk of losing data if a machine breaks

  ### 29. Great compliment to on prem backup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Easy to use and deploy, love the fact I can see the status of all backups regardless of the device

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I don't like the fact that I cannot do a full image backup to the cloud, it would be amazing to do an image restore from an image in the cloud

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Start with a trial to ensure you like the UI

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using crash plan to backup all of our file level items and documents.

  ### 30. CrashPlan - an annotive solution for data protection

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David N. | Desktop Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Encryption options to best protect sensitive data when stored on the cloud while the backup clients can take pretty much take care of themselves in keeping backups as current as possible.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Full initial backups can take a long time when onboarding existing users with large profiles and spotty network connections while it is still difficult for IT administrators to automate the initial authentication process to begin these initial backups without users interventions who may need guidance on how to do so.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

The most worry-free solution I've dealt with in my career.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prevention of data loss. The biggest benefits are users who fell victims to ransomware and theft which allowed quicker data recovery without dealing with those con artists.

  ### 31. No worries about my documents

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Easy to configure, reliable and works very well. Lots of features and it can be used to backup on your own machines as well as in the cloud. Never had problems when it came to restore files or documents.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Honestly maybe it's slowing down a bit the server.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

It is a very good solution for both private or business purposes.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup for different purposes, mainly for disaster recovery, accidental deletion and against ransomwere malware, being the only way to recover encrypted files.

  ### 32. Great Workstation backup

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I like the ability to steam backups to multiple locations from the source and easy user initiated restores.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I would like the ability to do disk images on some workstation so that functionality would be nice.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to backup all our data locally and offsite, as well as offline rotated media.

  ### 33. Thorough archived back-ups, but only 500 mb downloads

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elyse I. | Founder and Web Designer, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I love that I can look back on archived back-ups for months. It's great that I can just "set-it and forget-it", so my back-ups will continuously run, and I will also receive an email if my computer isn't backing up. Gives me peace of mind.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Now for the caveat... my laptop recently crashed so I had to use my CrashPlan to restore. Beware, you can only download 500 MB chunks of data at a time. For a hard drive with over 500 GB of data, this takes forever.

Secondly, and I'll admit this was user error, but still be aware that your CrashPlan is set to back-up the correct drives. I had all my business files on a separate drive and none of them were backed-up. It was a pretty big shock. So just be warned, that you will need to verify what CrashPlan is set to back-up before you trust it to do so.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Check your back-up settings and make sure CrashPlan is set to back-up all files and drives. Also, set aside a good afternoon and maybe throw on some Netflix, because with 500 MB downloads at a time, restoring will take you a while.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I live and die by my data. It is my most valuable asset, so I need a product I can trust. Benefit-wise, being able to look back and pull data that may have been deleted from even 6+ months ago has been a huge advantage.

  ### 34. Wonderful backup service for our mobile devices and servers.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charlie S. | IT Director, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

CrashPlan has lifted a tremendous burden from our shoulders, especially when it comes to mobile devices. The constant backups and anywhere availability have helped make our endpoints safer.

Having the ability to roll back files with low RPO and many time frame choices helps us sleep better at nights with looming ransomware threats.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Central administration was a little clunky at first, but each revision over the years has increased the friendly usability of the portal. Now it is much more user friendly.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

I recommend CrashPlan PROe to organizations that have problem areas specifically with mobile devices and in general with any backup issues.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mobility backups are a breeze now. Low RTO and low & frequent RPO.

  ### 35. Easy Online backup service!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

It's very easy to use. You need to setup the initial settings, but once that is done, you can basically "set it and forget it". It scheduler makes it handy to do the back ups over night so that it doesn't interfere with what you are doing on your computer. It works for PC and Mac!

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The initial back up takes the longest, but once it syncs up, it minimal. It can sometimes slow down my processor while I am using my computer.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Easy to use and you are able to retrieve your back if a disaster occurs. I will the price was cheaper. $5.00/month can add up.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving files on my hard drive can be risky if my hard drive fails, I would lose all my documents and work.

  ### 36. The most versatile and easy to use backup solution on the market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Research | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

No hassle maintenance, just deploy it and forget it. Backups are always there waiting for when a user needs them.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I think the only thing wrong with the product is that an administrator cannot login to the client's agent on their computer to start a restore or perform any other functions. If we can login to the web interface to do this anyway, why can't we here? I think there's something on the product roadmap for this already though.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Start a trial, get it deployed on a couple of boxes and let the initial backup complete. Notice how nothing you do changes, no speed decreases, no time lost, and from that point on anything you do is completely backed up and secure no matter where you are in the word. Once you have that feeling you'll deploy to your entire facility.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CrashPlan has made us not even blink about ransomware, we know we're covered if something happens. Other than that, we're saving a ton of money by not licensing another backup solution and maintaining large arrays to store all of this data on and off-site.

  ### 37. Easy to use and very handy!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cameron C. | ITS Support Analyst II, Higher Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2014

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The low system resources used to back up my machine, and the ability to pull and restore data for any user at any time.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I would love to learn more about the API and how to use it. Currently there isn't much offered by the support when it comes to teach how to use the API. I have some base coding knowledge but nothing too in depth. I would love it if they had some tutorials of useful things to do with the API. Also the download speeds from the cloud are pretty bad. Most users are OK but when they have anything over 50GB don't make plans to give it to the user for at least a day.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

The system works really well, the only drawback is that if you are using the cloud based system the download speeds for restore are a little slow, but with an onsite server it zips!

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Restoration of lost documents or altered documents is always a solution when several hundred faculty are in the equation. Most recently I had a faculty member drive away with their laptop on their car and shattered the thing on the freeway. Thanks to CrashPlan I was able to restore all of her data and get her back up in running within a day.

  ### 38. It just works

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason S. | Infrastructure Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The best thing you can say about any software product is that it just works which sometimes is very difficult to say about software. This does, set it up on the workstations and it just hums. I don't have to manage policies, retention, swapping tapes. It just works.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

The only issue that I have in the past if when I guessed the wrong web portal to log into.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a few laptops in the field and backing them up timely with an onprem solution over a VPN was proving to be difficult if not impossible to do reliably. With CrashPlan the uses are always backed up. Never have to worry about it.

  ### 39. Great online backup

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Use it as a backup to a backup. Pretty easy interface

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

can be slow to upload an entire share up to the cloud.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

backup

  ### 40. Crashplan - Online Backup Without Legacy Baggage

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John T. | Security Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 10, 2015

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Clarity of of the interface and the performance and reliability of the client. Restores work very well when needed.

We were early innovators with using endpoint backup. Others often where surprised how long we had been backing up endpoints. Unfortunately, our vendor changed hands a few times and had lost a lot of developer steam. We struggled with back-end management and legacy architecture at the endpoint.

We knew all the headaches that a back-end and client could have for endpoint backup. Crashplan was extremely impressive on the back end and at the endpoint. The company was more than receptive to any input. We have been very happy with Crashplan.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Haven't found anything we dislike, instead we keep enjoying a steady stream of improvements that have been easy to implement.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Just give it a try. The product will prove itself.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The business problem of legacy systems. Reduced administration burden.

  ### 41. Resource-light Backup with Simple Administration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

It is very simple to deploy and manage. It also doesn't hog resources like other backup solutions we have tried. Works across Windows, macOS, and many Linux flavors.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

My users can create an encryption key, leaving their backups useless to me if they decide not to give me that information. I would really like a rule that prohibits users of an organization from enabling encryption.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We really wanted simple, offsite backup that worked across all ecosystems and while users were mobile. We have used it for over 3 years now and are very pleased. It has saved us a couple times.

  ### 42. Using Crashplan in a office

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

the reliability and speed of the syncing which is done in the background.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

its lack of user interface, one has to call in order to restore files.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

definitely do it, worth the back up if you have stuff worth backing up.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backup solution for multiple devices with unlimited storage.

  ### 43. A good software, can be better

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shvetha S. | Graduate Assistant (Software Developer), Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 28, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Extremely friendly user interface and doesn't hog the memory while backing up.Its easy to recover the data as well, no rocket science needed. A big plus for the user friendliness.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I did experience some problems (sluggish) while trying to use this on Linux.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

If they had some performance improvements for Linux, I would surely recommend this.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up all important uncommited code and other important files

  ### 44. Well, that was easy!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patrick G. | Network and Database Manager, Primary/Secondary Education, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Implementation is fairly simple. I like that ability to be able to back up each campus to the others, and to the cloud. Great hybrid product. We back everything up locally and to the cloud.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

First backups take a while. Backup one client at a time. Be patient.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Plan ahead. Have a good strategy when implementing. Test procedure for restore.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've tried to get our administrators to user Crash Plan on their individual machines. While we are working on that we've backed up our two campuses to the cloud and to each other. Having the data redundantly available is key. We have teachers who "thought" they saved something.

  ### 45. Crashplan does backups right!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron M. | IT Specialist, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Crashplan is extremely easy to use and run. It just works, no checking in on users every few days to see if it's broken either.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Not much to dislike. Any quirk or issue I've had has been resolved by their staff.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

If it's worth the price, then go for it. It's the best for a reason.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data backup and protecetion from loss of information. So far we've had no data truly lost thanks to crashplan.

  ### 46. Review of Code42 Crashplan

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew S. | Senior Desktop Systems Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

The interface of the CrashPlan portal is nice and organized. The install of the app is fairly simple (besides some specific java requirements for Mac users).

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Having to install a specific version of Java for CP based on the version of the app we use. Updating is in the near future so hopefully this requirement will go away.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Backing up users file and directories has been nice. CrashPlan has helped (pretty rarely honestly, but has helped) in restoring files for users when switching to a new computer or when a computer failed.

  ### 47. Very easy backup system

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ralf T. | Webdeveloper and Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Once this is installed you can virtually forget about it. Backup is performed in the background. Any changes are immediately saved to the cloud

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

Retrieving old data could be a bit more easy. It is time consuming to navigate to the correct date and find the files.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using this for many years now. I was able to retrieve files for clients that they had deleted.

  ### 48. We Like Crashplan

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2017

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

easy to retrieve backed up documents and files

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

I can't think of anything I dislike about the product

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

automatic backup, document recovery, saved money on drive failure and lost/stolen laptops

  ### 49. Great back up plan for using with a NAS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Photography | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

I use Code42 CrashPlan to back up a NAS for one of my clients. It has never failed us once. I like the fact that you can set it and forget it. It requires little maintenance.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

There isn't a whole lot that I don't like about it. The UI is intuitive and make sense for anyone to use.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

I would make sure that is backs up while your using the computer, otherwise it could take longer to back up your data.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it to back up a NAS. The remote aspect is a great benefit. I like that you can check in on it from the iPhone app.

  ### 50. Simple, Comprehensive End-User Backup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael S. | Director, Information Technology and Technical Support, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2016

**What do you like best about CrashPlan SMB?**

Crashplan is dead simple to use. Drop the agent on a client workstation and that's basically it. It chugs away silently in the background and keeps their data safe. Files are easily recoverable by the end-user and even include versioning. The admin console makes it simple to see workstation status and check up on the health of backups.

**What do you dislike about CrashPlan SMB?**

As easy as the software is to use, I've always found that proactive customer outreach from Code42 is still maturing. Only recently have we had an account rep checking in with us from time to time to see how things are going. There are some UI elements in the admin console that aren't entirely clear until you stumble across them.

**Recommendations to others considering CrashPlan SMB:**

Crashplan Enterprise works great when pointed at local storage. Great for a sort of cloud-hybrid backup model where your data security matches your usual standards because it's on your systems.

**What problems is CrashPlan SMB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want thorough data capture at our Institute. Crashplan enables us to protect data on client workstations, even when they are offsite.
