I like that Cove Data Protection provides reliable backups and easy recovery, which are quick and stress-free. The simple interface also stands out to me. I find the initial setup complex, and I think the interface could be more intuitive. A guided setup wizard and a more user-friendly dashboard would improve the experience. President Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) 1/14/2022 "Cloud Backup Product - Works very well indeed" 4.5/5 What do you like best about Cove Data Protection? Setup is simple enough. Company has been very responsive in helping to set up the first few computers - 1 server and 2 workstations so far - and support seems to be readily available when I need it. The other day I had a very good session that went over some of the finer points of the product. All backups performed so far have been flawless (there was on glitch within a day of setup, that resolved itself automatically before I even noticed it, this doesn't count). Machine performance hit(s) do not seem to be noticeable. A local (loopback) web host instantly shows you status of that machine's backup, and the management console is reasonably clear. Since the product is complex by nature, I have no complaints in that regard. Cove also seems to co-exist very well with existing on-site backup programs. I have clients with an assortment of devices, including servers, workstations, PCs, and mobile devices, and each client has different backup needs. Some only want their server backed up, while others want a selection of devices protected. I can set up one scheduled backup per device or configure multiple scheduled backups. I can also choose to back up all folders or only specific folders. In addition to standard data backups, I have options for other services such as SQL, Oracle, and network drives. Every day, I receive an email report showing which devices backed up successfully and which did not. I also get a report listing any files that didn’t back up. From there, I can investigate what failed and, if needed, run a backup on the fly. Restores are quick and easy. I perform test restores for all clients on a monthly basis, which increases my billing hours while also ensuring my clients’ data is restorable and intact. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Cove Data Protection helps keep my data and my clients’ data safe from hackers and malware. The previous cloud backup service I used allowed ransomware to follow the backup into the cloud, which was a serious concern. I also like the UI when you go to do a recovery. It's speedy and responsive -- easy to pull up an "oops" deleted email or Sharepoint accidental rename. What do you dislike about Cove Data Protection? I dislike the terms N-Able has started imposing on Partners. I'm still new to it, but it reminds me of Kaseya with a "Master agreement" that then auto-renews you into certain terms or gets rid of things they used to have. For example, you used to be able to reduce your Cove usage once per year if something happened but when I signed up, my rep told me they had just gotten rid of that. The best feature of Cove Data protection is the main dashboard and the analytics you receive when checking individual machines for backups. It provides an easy view for all machines, including, charts for different topics (such as backups completed and devices on Cove) and the filtering system is really easy to use, helping me find devices easily. The backup error page lists errors that have occurred during backups, and gives me a reason for failure, but there is no potential solution to this issue. Cove Data protection gives our companies/customers an extra line of security for their files, system states, and SQL databases. We know that in case of a disaster, user error, or basic server backups, our customers are protected and have a fail safe. We can configure backup profiles to match our customers’ exact expectations and requirements, and having a single installer that works across multiple devices within the same company makes the overall rollout extremely efficient. After the initial setup, backups run nearly flawlessly, and any errors or issues are reported directly in the portal, which makes it easy for me to understand what happened and address it quickly. The recovery process is also very smooth; whether it’s a straightforward file or folder restore or a full computer image recovery, we’ve consistently been able to recover important customer data. The UI can be a bit confusing to learn at first when new to the software, and it takes some customizing to get looking the way we wanted it to properly display info to us. From my experience with Cove Data Protection, I really like how easy the portal is to use. I had to perform a server restore last week on Hyper-V, and it was very straightforward for me to get up and running.
