We've had very few backup failures. It runs smoothly 99% of the time. You can access detailed logs and information about the endpoint and any failures. Super light weight. Forget every other backup I've ever worked with. Most important it works! We had a compromised server restored as VM to a temporary host up and running in just hours, and most of that time was the speed of the download! (Local speed vault copy was also compromised otherwise it would have been even faster!) As the client watched their server get boxed up and sent to their cyber insurance forensics team we arrived with their recovered server! However, one may need to restart a backup in order to reduce over backup size after long periods of time. Thanks to the very well structured daily reports, it is possible to monitor the situation of all backup tasks and intervene in case of problems. Compatibility with the main virtualization systems and also with all Microsoft 365 online products, now used by most companies. Immediate and very competent live chat support, they have always supported me very quickly and comprehensively. Integrated in all the most popular operating systems on the market. Really easy setup and use and implementation in a few steps following the online instructions. The Server/workstation backup is great. A pre-seeding option is available if there is a large amount of data to upload initially. Once the initial backup has been uploaded, small increments are taken hourly. Restoring deleted or overwritten files is a breeze and takes only minutes. 365 Backup on the other hand, is even better. Very easy to link in with a 365 tenant, You can have a 365 tenant backing up within 10 minutes of starting. It will back up all Exchange, OneDrive and Sharepoint sites and it's all accessible from one interface. Data is retained for years and recovering data or emails is very straightforward to do. **What do you dislike about Cove Data Protection?** Cove workstation back up has issues with poor internet connections. Not really a failure of cove, but something to be aware of when looking to implement it. **What problems is Cove Data Protection solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cove server backups removed the need for an onsite backup with external drives being swapped daily by an assigned staff member. Everytime we've had an issue we've been able to contact support who have been concise and speedy with their responses which have enabled us to continue using the product. We have rolled out cove to most of our customers at this point and are in the process of adding more customers to the microsoft 365 backup which offers full exchange, teams and sharepoint backup - invaluable in todays day and age. **What do you dislike about Cove Data Protection?** There are only a few things that I find difficult with cove, one of which is the lack of individual chat message history backup in teams, there have been occasions where we've needed to review an ex-employee's chat history for our clients but have been unable to do so and otherwise forced to use Microsoft 365's ediscovery. I additionally wish there was a repository of common error codes/reasons why backups might fail or have warnings so that we could concisely go through and rectify any issues that might be present - many of which can be obvious, but some simply arent. **What problems is Cove Data Protection solving and how is that benefiting you?** Cove is an all in one solution that has enhanced our problem solving when it comes to the recovery of deleted 365 elements or servers breaking down - having all of the tools we need on a simple to use GUI to maintain and test our disaster recovery plans for all of our customers. The ease of profile creation allows us to offer value-adds in terms of RPO's whilst the recovery time, local speed vaulting and generally usable interface means that we can support our customers backup, investigate problems and ensure services run smoothly far easier than previously with the old managed backup solution. Having everything in a single dashboard is instrumental to our efficiency, and cove has done this brilliantly. ### 28. When we onboard a new customer, we've got O365 backup working in 5 minutes. I also like the endpoint backup. I actually had to do a bare metal restore and it worked flawlessly. Honestly, I could not believe it. I dove into the restore without reading any docs. I hit a couple of bumps, read the applicable KBs and poof - I had an exact copy of my back up on dissimilar hardware. I don’t even know if the dissimilar part is supported - but I can tell you it worked. **What do you dislike about Cove Data Protection?** No gripes about Cove. My only challenge with N-able is billing. They are getting better though. I need more reporting from their billing portal. **What problems is Cove Data Protection solving and how is that benefiting you?** #1 - M365 Backup. #2 Endpoint backup. 1. When we tell customers that thier O365 data is backed up for 7 years, the reaction is always - oh wow, that's great! 2. It's pretty cool to be able to get a CEO up and running on a new machine after his failed in just a couple hours. I didn't even mention file level restores becasue a backup should be able to do that without question and of course that is a benefit. I prefer to mention the things that are typically a challenge with backup vendors. ### 41. With continous restore options, you can even have a VM that is restored whenever a backup is taken. It was easy to restore a physical system to a VM. With a Local Speed Vault encrypted cache, restores can be much quicker than pulling down all data from the cloud. **What do you dislike about Cove Data Protection?** The passphrase and security key have different names in different places. When selecting a point-in-time restore, the selection screens change (just be careful to double check before you start.) I'm not a huge fan of the restore-to creating the directory structure starting with the source drive letter. **What problems is Cove Data Protection solving and how is that benefiting you?** Having offsite backups with restore point in time capability allowed me to recover from a ransomware attack. The downside is that there are often additional tools that must be installed in order to access these features, which people are not always aware of. Granular restores are not great if you are backing up a VM and want just some data from it. The virtual drive tool is supposed to allow you to browse into the VM but I find it does not work well. I tend to backup my VM files in addition to the full VM backup which has me using twice the space that I should be. I do this just for the peace of mind that I have easy access to the restores I need. I wish the granulat restores were more robust out of the box, and not an after thought/add-on. **What problems is Cove Data Protection solving and how is that benefiting you?** The biggest problem Cove solves for me is time management. With previous backup solutions, monitoing and mainintaining all jobs took a very long time, and we had very regular failures/errors.
