"Great program with excellent support team"
5/5
What do you like best about Countfire?

The program makes the takeoff process clean, simple, and organized. When I've had questions, the support team has gone above and beyond to walk me through the process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Countfire?

Drawings can be slow to load occasionally, though it is usually only a couple of minutes. Only available on the Chrome browser. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Will Jennings of Countfire

Thanks for you review!

With browsers, we decided to make Chrome a requirement so we can ensure things are as fast as possible.

Countfire takes advantage of some fairly cutting edge features only available in Chrome and given the resource intensive nature of loading & navigating around construction PDFs, we found the experience just isn't as good in other browsers.

Construction PDFs can occasionally be tricky (sometimes you'll encounter PDFs that are 10-100X more complicated because of the way they've been drawn in AutoCAD), however, there's a few approaches that can help speed things up.

One is to simplify selections that are complex (link below) and failing that, give us a shout via the in-app chat as our dev team can often work wonders with overly complex PDFs.

What do you like best about Countfire?

Being able to collate on take off's in a spreadsheet that can be edited. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Countfire?

Not being able to add drawing scale automatically after adding I to the first drawing. Take-off items can be deleted too easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Will Jennings of Countfire

Thanks so much for your review and great to hear you like Countfire's Excel spreadsheet integration!

Bulk setting scales & adding a warning when deleting takeoff headings are fairly high on our feature request list. They definitely make sense and they are on our roadmap to add.

Fast

Great user interface

Efficient

Massively speeds up doing take offs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Countfire?

I wish I could scroll in & out using both the pan & select pointers Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Will Jennings of Countfire

Thanks Kelly. Those 4 points are pretty much the list of things we set out to create when we first started Countfire back in 2012—unrivalled customer support is the only one I'd add!

With scrolling in & out using both the pan & select pointers—you can! 🥳

We rolled out that change a few month back. I've included a link to the announcement below.

"Great browser app for electrical estimation"
5/5
What do you like best about Countfire?

This tool requires no additional downloads, precise estimations and excellent at detecting same items on a blueprint. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Countfire?

Clunky at times, it takes a while to adjust to navigation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Will Jennings of Countfire

Thanks for your kind review Julius!

In terms of navigation, we recently redesigned Countfire and streamlined much of the in-app navigation.

We have fairly deep keyboard shortcut support also and many of our users find that method of driving Countfire really quick & efficient.

"Countfire is a flexible Tailored system, allowing for automated & manual counting"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Countfire?

Countfire has efficiency and flexibility Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Countfire?

Somestimes it will not read some items on drawings Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Will Jennings of Countfire

Thanks Jeff. I'm glad you mention flexibility. It's something that sets us apart and allows estimators to easily handle last minute changes to tender information, or their clients pricing schedule / breakdown etc—it's a hugely powerful benefit of using Countfire.

With items not being read on drawings. One thing you can occasionally run into (less than 1% of PDFs) is that the PDF can be produced as a single flat image, which contains none of the information PDFs normally contain.

In these cases, our manual counting tools provide a solid backup option for taking off these drawings, and have a number of benefits over using a traditional manual counting process:

- You don’t need to print the drawings out

- You don’t need to count as you work (Countfire keeps track of the count for you)

- You can use zones to split quantities down however you need them

- You get a set of marked up record drawings that show what you’ve done

"Very helpful set up"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Countfire?

When you count a product, it picks up all within the drawings also, you can hide the background on drawings Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Countfire?

Not really count poor fire drawings sent in Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Will Jennings of Countfire

Thanks! We try to be really hot on the initial setup / onboarding side so I'm glad you found that helpful.

Simultaneously counting across all PDFs within a project is definitely something that sets us apart—it makes doing a takeoff so much faster than any other method.

Working with the occasional set of poor quality PDFs / drawings can be frustrating. Don't suffer in silence though, our team of product specialists can advise of the best approach to take and if that doesn't help we've got a dev team that can step in and often work wonders.

"it saves me so much time and money. I cut the time needed for take-offs in half. Recommended"
5/5
What do you like best about Countfire?

Doing the take-off quickly and scaling measurments easily Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Countfire?

A way to give adds and omits from different revisions Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Will Jennings of Countfire

Thanks! So glad Countfire is working well for you!

With revisions, it's possible to drop your revised drawings in and have Countfire use your previous work to automatically count the revised drawings.

You can then do your add and omits from the resulting automatically created spreadsheet (I've linked to our help centre article on this below).
