## About Couchdrop
Couchdrop enables businesses to send, receive, and automate secure file transfers in one simple platform. As a modern, cloud-native platform, Couchdrop automatically scales to meet the needs of businesses from startups to enterprises. Organizations can securely transfer millions of files and terabytes of data with automatic scaling that can meet the most intense file transfer requirements, all without having any infrastructure management. Supporting, simple, direct connections to storage like SharePoint, Dropbox, Azure, and more, Couchdrop integrates with over 20 platforms and growing. Couchdrop does not store data at any stage of the process and acts as a secure pipe between systems, leaving you in full control at all times. Couchdrop aims to be simple and easy enough for anyone to use. An SFTP server is created immediately at sign-up, and all admin and management tasks are done through a modern, uncomplicated web interface where users can connect platforms, add external users, and build workflows using the no-code automation builder. Both transfer automation and file actions are created with this visual builder. Transfer automations push or pull files from external sources, while file actions can move, copy, rename, encrypt/decrypt, compress/decompress, and more, including firing external webhooks. Automations can be scheduled to happen at set times or based on events like uploads, downloads, or a trigger from one of Couchdrop's file intake methods. These ingestion options include mailboxes for email attachments, upload links as a secure client-facing brandable web portal, and secure shared links with optional password protection and expiration. Couchdrop is suitable for organizations of all sizes, with simple, transparent monthly pricing and plans set for businesses at different stages and transfer requirements. All plans are backed by award-winning support from product experts with typical responses within half a day. While simple to use, Couchdrop has enterprise-grade security controls available to everyone. Features and protocols can be restricted at the user or organization level, and users can be isolated to a specific directory as their root with granular access controls. Couchdrop's already comprehensive auditing can also be enhanced by integrating with SIEM providers to send logs and events. Join the thousands of private and public sector organizations that use Couchdrop for all their secure file transfer needs. All new accounts include a 14-day free trial with no credit card or demo required.

## Couchdrop Reviews
 ### 1. Couchdrop makes file transfers simple and fast!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shereen K. | Senior Business Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2026

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

Couchdrop simplifies file transfers with our existing setup. Since we use Microsoft SharePoint, it’s great that Couchdrop has the option of connecting directly to it. More useful for our team, it lets us CC an email address for file transfers without having to log into a separate portal. It saves time, keeps things simple, and fits right into the way we already work.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

There is not much to dislike, but the UI can feel a bit basic at times, and some advanced configurations aren’t always as intuitive as they could be. It sometimes takes a little digging to find specific settings or reporting. That said, once everything is set up, it runs smoothly and does exactly what we need.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Couchdrop solves the problem of having to manage separate file transfer infrastructure or force users into a standalone portal just to send or receive documents. While we don’t currently use the direct integration with Microsoft SharePoint, it’s reassuring that it’s available since that’s where our documents ultimately live.

The key benefit for us is that the people sending and managing these files are administrative employees who review, manage, and abstract documents - they’re not technical users. The CC feature lets them incorporate secure file transfers directly into their normal email workflow without logging into another system. That means no extra training, no friction, and no disruption to how they already work.

Couchdrop keeps the process simple, reduces friction, and prevents our Operations or IT teams from having to step in and own the transfer process. It’s secure and controlled, but still easy enough for non-technical staff to use every day.

 ### 2. Fast, SOC 2–Ready SFTP That Saves Cost and Engineering Effort

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott E. | Chief Operating Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2026

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

Couchdrop is a fast and easy to integrate option for getting an SFTP solution up and running in a SOC 2 compliant environment. We were able to go from finding the tool to implementing in less than a week, with the majority of our proof of concept accomplished in 1 day. From a cost perspective, it helps avoid the expense of pen tests, the added costs that come with expanding audit scope, and the engineering overhead required to manage a secure file transfer solution.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

I wish there were more guides on how to auto-provision users and folders via the API, and more secure webhook features, like a signature-key architecture, so we can verify that the webhooks are actually coming from Couchdrop.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SOC 2 compliant SFTP inbound and outbound solution for our customers.

 ### 3. Couchdrop’s Responsive Support Makes an Easy Platform Even Better

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

What I appreciate most about Couchdrop is their support team. The platform itself is easy to use, but the team’s responsiveness and patience stand out. Even with timezone differences, they usually reply within 3–4 hours, which feels prompt and reliable. They genuinely work to resolve issues, making the overall experience smooth and reassuring.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

The area I find most challenging is the automation workflow builder. While the concept is useful, the workflow map can be frustrating to adjust. If I need to change a step in the middle, the system deletes that action along with all subsequent ones, requiring me to rewrite the workflow from that point onward. Improving flexibility here would make the automation feature much more efficient and user-friendly.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

N/A

**Official Response from Tom Sutton:**

> Thank you for this. We take a lot of pride in our support team, and their responsiveness and commitment to helping you succeed is what we believe sets Couchdrop apart.

The automation workflow builder is getting significant development attention. We've already released the ability to insert steps without losing subsequent actions, and more improvements will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

 ### 4. Effortless File Sharing with Top-Notch Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shayni S.

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

I like that Couchdrop is easy to use and manage, which makes the process of handling data much more efficient. The technical support and assistance are top-notch, with the Couchdrop team always available to assist with any questions. They provide prompt responses and are willing to get on a video call to help me learn how to navigate and use the system. The team is very thorough and knowledgeable, which gives me a sense of trust in the product. The initial setup was very easy thanks to an onboarding call where the Couchdrop team walked us through all the setup steps. It works very well and fulfills our current needs, and I trust that it will continue to meet our future needs, supported by the capable Couchdrop team.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

None

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Couchdrop for secure SFTP connections and sharing large files with PHI. It solves managing hard connections by being easy to use and streamlining access to partner folders.

 ### 5. User-Friendly SFTP Website for Beginners

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

Relatively user-friendly website for those who don't know too much about SFTP's.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

It could be a more user-friendly for those who've never had to use a product like this.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secure file transfer--helps with our clients that we collaborate with.

 ### 6. Secure, Knowledgeable, Integration Friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Platform is simple to use yet complex enough to fit all needs.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

Honestly, everything went without a hitch.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secure delivery of files and documents
Secure platform to share ideas with internal and external users
Integration with our many 3rd party vendors
Additional security features such as MFA, and PGP.

 ### 7. SFTP for the 21st century!!!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew O. | Sr. IT Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

Couchdrop takes a legacy method of transfering files and puts a modern spin on it. I love how I can literally put an SFTP front end on basically ANY cloud storage platform. They have support for sooo many cloud storage providers. PLUS, for the people concerned about compliances like HIPPA, NIST, etc. Couchdrop, unlike many other cloud based SFTP services, never stores any of your data in their servers. They write the data DIRECTLY to your preferred cloud storage platform with NO staging area and no intermediate storage.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

Honestly, I struggle to find something with this platform that I don't love. But if I had to pick one thing, I'd say that Couchdrop's automation component leaves a little to be desired at the moment. But to their credit, when I spoke to one of their sales reps about this, they readily accepted the feedback and they told me this is something they are actively persuing.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Couchdrop is literally the only solution out there providing an SFTP front end for our modern cloud storage platforms (i.e. AWS S3, Box, Google Drive, Dropbox, SharePoint, etc.)

It takes 60 seconds to spin up a trial account and maybe 10 minutes to configure your cloud storage integration. And just like that you're sending files via SFTP and saving them DIRECTLY into SharePoint or whatever cloud storage you're using. This has made my job so much easier.

Not to mention, most other providers that offer similar services are exponentially more expensive and they lack the ability to write directly to your cloud storage and have to rely on intermediate storage.

 ### 8. Outstanding SFTP/MFT solution that integrates with your own cloud storage provider!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marcus H. | Technology Support Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

Couchdrop integrates seamlessly with our own cloud storage provider, creating instant efficiency gains for our internal employees while simultaneously making uploads simple & easy, with full security for our clients. Additionally, their API will enable us to integrate upload portal creation and management within our own SaaS app dashboard for our clients, even further tightening the integration between our app, our clients' UX, any cloud storage provider we use, and also improving internal efficiencies also. The people I've interacted with at Couchdrop so far have been extremely friendly, helpful, and a joy to work with as well.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

So far, nothing, Couchdrop's product offers all of the features we needed and more - not to mention it was quick & easy to hit the ground running with their services.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Beyond just needing an upload portal that support SFTP, Couchdrop's service integrates with our own cloud storage provider, provides full data security, has API capabilities for further integration, and most importantly makes the upload process simple for both our clients as well as improving efficiency for our internal employees by integrating with our own existing cloud storage service.

 ### 9. Finally, a cloud based FTP solution.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Skyler Y. | Software Engineer., Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

I like that it connects to many storage locations like Google Drive, S3, or hosted storage and includes automation for handling files as they are uploaded. And all at an affordable price!

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

It's a relatively young product, and parts of it are unrefined. However, since we joined two years ago, I've seen the interface and reliability improve by leaps and bounds.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to move data from legacy providers that only export XLSX, and get it into locations where we can pick it up with services like Fivetran for ingestion. Couchdrop provides the magic link in the middle.

 ### 10. Professional Staff and SAAS Product

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

The product has a clean, simple interface that makes creating new internal or external SFTP connections a breeze. The support staff is extremely knowledgable about their product and, timezone dependant, very prompt to respond to queries or questions about the product. You have the capibilites to easily connect to most major storage solutions and automate SFTP processes in a few quick clicks.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

The product seems to still be in active development and during the time period of use we have seen noticeable changes to the UI without notifications about updates being made. Also with this being a new product there is some features that are not currently available the prevent creating specific SFTP Connections.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The requirement for an on site SFTP solution, being able to host our SFTP in the Cloud lesses our need for physical equipment and the costs associated with them.

 ### 11. Just does what it says on the tin

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott S. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

Couchdrop gives us the flexibility to use whatever back-end storage provider that we want. For example, we are using an S3-based service with immutability turned on, so we can support legacy protocols with the latest in data protection.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

Would love to see some more MFA methods backed in, like TOTP and FIDO, to improve login security.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned above, its enabling us to support legacy protocols (like FTP) without compromising newer features like S3 immutability for data protection.

 ### 12. Couchdrop allows us to transfer files while leveraging already existing cloud storage.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

The ability to leverage already existing cloud storage.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

User security controls could be stronger, such as requiring the use of 2FA.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to transfer files on a platform that connects back to enterprise storage.

 ### 13. Excellent Tool for my Business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cameron G. | VP of Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

CouchDrop has helped me scale and grow my business exponentially. Without this tool I would not be where I am today.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

Nothing. this business provide me everything i need to complete all of my tasks presented to me.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i needed secure way to create users and store them for different trading partners and this provided exactly that.

 ### 14. Exactly what we were looking for

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex D. | Product Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

The customer support of couchdrop is very simply excellent. Any time we had an issue with anything, they went above and beyond to help us and even put in place custom items specifically for us.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

There is nothing about couchdrop I dislike or would change. If anything, the UI for the administration of new users could be a little straightforward, but that is just being extremely nit-picky as how it is currently is clear and concise, and I have not had any issues with it

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It increases the flexibility of additional team members to administer portions of our SFTP and allows our customers access to their directories without the need for developer intervention.

 ### 15. Couchdrop makes life easier

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joel F. | CTO / Co-founder, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 01, 2021

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

Couchdrop allows our newer tech stack based on real-time events to work with our customer's older tech stacks that are dependent on SFTP. Additionally, it's great that I don't have to manage an SFTP server, SSH keys, and training of our teams to interact with data we receive from our customers. We can rely on Dropbox to manage storage, backups and authorization within our company and use Couchdrop for the customers to interact with it.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

There is not too I do not like about Couchdrop. Sometimes the UI gets in the way when configuring new users and storage locations; however I know the team is working hard on new features and is super responsive to feedback.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

* Allow customer facing data teams to interact with data through modern tools like Dropbox, while some of our customers still rely on SFTP
* We have several programs that are AWS Lambda functions that run off of S3 events. Couchdrop allows for use of these tools without need for polling an SFTP server.

 ### 16. Functionality and Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Neil P. | VP of Technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

In my experience, most reviews focus on the product and its functionality, and this is true with CouchDrop as well. However, CouchDrop has something else that is hard to find in great companies. That is the support. The level of support and the openness to listening to feedback is something that will help CouchDrop to continue to grow. There are a lot of companies that still are at the beginning of their digital transformation, and CouchDrop is a product that can help them start their journey.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

Honestly, there is nothing that I dislike about the product.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many products in the technology universe help solve today's problems when it comes to transferring data. However, I consider CouchDrop to be the bridge between legacy technology and modern technology. The ability to take a SharePoint document library, Box, or Google Drive, and turn it into an SFTP site is invaluable to those organizations who want to move their technology focus forward while catering to clients playing catch up.

 ### 17. Couchdrop is an awesome tool!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Obed E. | Staff Data Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2021

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

Couchdrop is an sftp service that allows you to easily integrate any storage you want, add users, assign permissions over users, notifications, and even triggers when certain users upload files and log of file management. The technical support is fantastic, always willing to help and resolve the issues quickly, which is appreciated.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

So far, we are delighted with the tool no dislikes mentioning.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a lot of data providers, and we need to share sensitive data with them. That's why we need to have an SFTP service for it. In addition, we wanted a service that was easy to use that allowed adding users and set permissions over a UI, and the most critical, that uses Amazon S3 as storage. Couchdrop delivers on all the requirements we need and provides new features like file logs and triggers, which are good.

 ### 18. Perfect fit for anyone using cloud storage but has to hook up SFTP to bridge tech gaps

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2021

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

Couchdrop is very easy to setup and maintain. The solution just works. Once you hooked up your cloud storage and mounted it to an endpoint, all you need to do is give access to your SFTP users within the interface. That's it. You're done.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

The interface is a little all over the place. Settings are scattered (if for good reasons), and it is a little unintuitive for advanced functionality. In all fairness, support is very quick to respond and help out.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Couchdrop to bridge a technology gap with one of our business partners. Since they cannot provide an API we could hook up to and only supply reports via spreadsheets posted to SFTP, we needed a solution to get those files into Microsoft 365. Couchdrop does this and more.

 ### 19. Flexible, Scalable and Instant SFTP solution for the modern era

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kostas P. | Head of Client Integrations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2021

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

It's easy to set up. You simply just make an account. No need to set up your own server.
Scales along with your cloud (no limitations associated with maintaining a server yourself, such as limited storage)
Easy to work with and flexible team, especially on the enterprise version.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

No obvious cons that I can think of. The support could be slightly more responsive. Ever since we switched to the enterprise version that's been great.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Couchdrop to receive flat files over SFTP. Creating and maintaining an SFTP server was too much of a pain and have been using Couchdrop for ease of setup, scalability and it plugs right into our cloud system. We use it as a hosted SFTP server.

 ### 20. Wonderful support and cool platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

Couchdrop cloud SFTP integrates very well with several different nodes like Azure Blobs, stand-alone SFTP servers, NFS, and so much more. We were a bit hesitant at the beginning of this journey, but the Couchdrop team ensured we received adequate support from Sales to Technical issues. I am specifically thankful to the Technical team and Michael for helping us and making many feature updates on demand. The platform had improved a lot from when we started using it to date. I rest assured we are in safe hands in terms of our Cloud SFTP needs with Couchdrop.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

There is not anything in particular I dislike, but sometimes the platform is a bit unstable in terms of loading pages and saving changes, but that happens rarely.

**Recommendations to others considering Couchdrop:**

Go for it without second doubt, if you are using a diverse environment

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can connect to multiple different Vendors using different SFTP servers and different authentication mechanisms. As we are migrating to Cloud only environment, Couchdrop has helped us so much with our SFTP needs.

 ### 21. Effortless SFTP

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

I use Couchdrop to create an SFTP to Google Drive. We have a few legacy systems/connections with vendors that can only use FTP or SFTP. Instead of spinning up a new server or another liability, for that matter, we use Couchdrop to port data to Google Drive, our file storage solution. For lack of better words, it just works, and it's insanely easy to use and very cost-effective.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

None that I can think of at this time. It's a set-and-forget tool, and I never have to worry about outages or data not going to the right place.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tools that require an SFTP server, but IT not wanting to spin up an SFTP server for infrastructure reasons.

 ### 22. SFTP to Goole Team Drive Life Saver

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

The SFTP system with Couchdrop is super simple to configure and requires no hardware.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

I don't find anything to Dislike, we have used the solution daily for months, and it just works.

**Recommendations to others considering Couchdrop:**

We have used Couchdrop and their sister company Movebot on multiple occasions to resolve our client data move problems. We have always found the level of service to be excellent, the products easy to configure and use and once running they just work.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a solution to upload voice recording data from our Voip provider directly to the client's Google Team Drive, this solution solved our headaches. We looked at other solutions through Microsoft Azure, etc but these all required additional costs and overheads for us to manage the hardware so a No Hardware system was ideal.

 ### 23. Simplistic STFP Frontend for Sharepoint

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2021

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

I use Couchdrop to provide a simple way for our customers to send and receive files from our Sharepoint via SFTP. Files being sent to us are encrypted with PGP, Couchdrops ability to decrypt these files before storing them in Sharepoint has been essential in helping streamline our processes! Their support in helping get this set up has been outstanding.

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

Nothing to note at this time. The product has been very straightforward to use.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are providing an easy method for our customers to send us files in a secure fashion.

 ### 24. OUTSTANDING SUPPORT!!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Couchdrop?**

When there is an issue, or I need more features, I have been able to work directly with the developers who can quickly resolve or create when I need it

**What do you dislike about Couchdrop?**

Not much to dislike. Maybe the time difference, but that can't be helped.

**What problems is Couchdrop solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Large Data Transfers without shopping Hard drives
