CostMate is estimating software for New Zealand residential builders — solo operators and small crews pricing renovations, decks, bathrooms, fences and additions. You pick the job type and describe the work. CostMate returns a structured estimate: the materials with quantities, the labour broken into phases and hours, and the assumptions and exclusions worth putting in front of a client. Every material line shows which supplier the price came from and when it was last updated, so you can check a number before you put your name on it. The quantities come from a rules engine, not a language model. Every quantity, price, labour hour and modifier is computed by rules; the language model writes only the narrative — the scope summary, assumptions and exclusions — and is fenced off from the numbers in code.
