## About Cortex
Engineering organizations grow faster than their processes. Services multiply, ownership gets murky, and institutional knowledge walks out the door with every departure. Standards that made sense at 50 engineers break down at 500. When something goes wrong, teams spend hours figuring out who's responsible which delays fixing the problem. When leadership asks how engineering is improving, there's no reliable answer. Cortex is the Engineering Operations Platform that changes this. Know who owns what — Cortex automatically identifies service ownership across thousands of repositories, eliminating the manual work of tracking down who is responsible for what. Scale best practices — Self-service workflows let teams scaffold new services and provision infrastructure in minutes, ensuring every team follows the same standards by default. Measure and improve — Scorecards and Initiatives surface gaps, set benchmarks, and give teams a clear view of technical debt and what to fix next. Make smarter decisions — Engineering Intelligence brings DORA metrics, cycle time, incident trends, and the impact of AI adoption into one place. How Cortex works Cortex connects to your existing tools including GitHub, GitLab, Jira, PagerDuty, Kubernetes, Datadog, SonarQube, and more, and automatically maps your engineering ecosystem. Unlike platforms that require months of engineering investment to build and maintain, Cortex is designed to deliver value from day one. Who uses Cortex Cortex is built for the entire engineering organization. - Engineering leaders use Cortex to understand operational maturity, track standards, and measure impact across teams. - Platform and SRE teams use it to drive consistency, reliability, and automation through shared Scorecards and Workflows. - Developers use it to move faster with self-service golden paths, clear ownership, and real-time visibility into their services. Trusted by high-performing organizations including ASML, Canva, Blackstone, and Skyscanner.

## Cortex Reviews
 ### 1. Intuitive, Integration-Rich Catalog—But Adoption and Data Drift Take Work

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Cortex?**

Cortex finally brought order to our chaos. The UI is intuitive and our devs picked it up fast, with everything in one place instead of bouncing between Jira, Confluence, Swagger, and cloud accounts. The 60+ integrations and automatic metadata ingestion mean the catalog maintains itself, and it's scaled smoothly as our estate has grown.

**What do you dislike about Cortex?**

A catalog is only as good as what you feed it. Once integrations start drifting or metadata goes stale, you can end up with a portal that looks authoritative but is quietly misleading. For us, tracking down and correcting bad data became its own job.

Driving real adoption was also harder than we expected. Outside the platform team, a lot of developers simply didn’t open it, so there was a real risk of it turning into shelfware we paid for but didn’t actually use. On top of that, some of the configuration is fiddly and seems to assume a level of upfront investment we underestimated, and a few of the areas we wanted to customize were more rigid than the demos made them seem.

Overall, it’s a capable tool, but it really expects a mature, disciplined organization to get consistent value out of it. If you’re not already operating that way, it can end up feeling like more overhead than payoff.

**What problems is Cortex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Cortex, our biggest problem was that nobody could answer basic questions quickly: who owns this service, is it production-ready, what does it depend on, and where do I even find the docs. That knowledge lived in people's heads, scattered Confluence pages, and tribal memory, so onboarding was slow and incidents dragged on while we figured out who to page. Cortex solves that by giving us one source of truth for every service, with ownership, dependencies, and health all in one place.

 ### 2. A great scalable flexible tool and easy to integrate

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pratik D. | Tech Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Cortex?**

It was easier to use, flexible to our needs and scaling was not difficult. Developers found it easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Cortex?**

Nothing as such any dislike comments we could find from our team till now.

**What problems is Cortex solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cortex was able to work with existing systems, our databases and other tools. Integration was seamless and also data encryption was added advantage.
