"Reliable CMS with Customizable Flexibility"

What do you like best about CoreMedia?

I use CoreMedia as a headless content media manager, and it stands out for its reliability and ease of use. It doesn’t require much time to learn how to perform daily tasks, which makes it accessible not only to myself as a developer but also to my colleagues who are not developers. The platform's ability to integrate seamlessly with Salesforce Commerce Cloud is an essential feature, and its functioning as a headless CMS is incredibly efficient. I appreciate the variety of useful plugins and the fact that there are many customizable aspects, allowing us to configure the platform to meet specific customer demands. I find the integration capabilities noteworthy, as CoreMedia works well with other tools such as Cloudinary, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, and Visual Studio Code. Overall, its configurability and customizability make CoreMedia extremely valuable in our operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CoreMedia?

I find the GraphQL APIs in CoreMedia a bit tricky to use. Although I don't need to edit them frequently, they are not so easy to learn. Fortunately, there is sufficient documentation provided by CoreMedia, which helps somewhat in understanding them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I find the GraphQL area of CoreMedia tricky to use. It takes considerable time and effort to fully understand it, making it a more difficult aspect of using the platform compared to other features. I am uncertain about what specific improvements could be made to enhance this functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

These characteristics make CoreMedia a powerful product developed in Germany. The system allows for seamless connection and integration of numerous third-party systems. As a software partner, CoreMedia also stands out for its reliable customer support. Websites for different clients, channels, and languages can be easily implemented within a single system. Particularly noteworthy is the AI-based assistant for editors, which is designed to be very user-friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Customizable CMS with Flexible Support"
4.5/5
What do you like best about CoreMedia?

I truly appreciate CoreMedia for its flexibility in managing various types of content, which is a crucial aspect for our ever-evolving business requirements. The ability to customize the platform is incredibly beneficial as it allows us to tailor the system to accommodate 'non-standard' content and module requests from our business team. CoreMedia supports us in achieving these demands seamlessly. Additionally, I find the headless approach of CoreMedia extremely valuable; as we transition to PWA technology, this feature is indispensable for decoupling the front-end from back-end technologies, facilitating easier integration across different channels such as our website and apps. The availability and flexibility of the support team are commendable, providing reliable assistance whenever needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CoreMedia?

I find some parts of CoreMedia's platform could be more user-friendly for operative users. Certain workflows require a lot of clicks, making tasks cumbersome. For instance, scheduling a single component involves setting up numerous configurations, which could be streamlined. Additionally, there's an issue with the library folder; it can't be moved to another screen, which restricts flexibility. The initial setup was challenging, largely due to the system integrator's limited knowledge of the platform at the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from CoreMedia Marketing of CoreMedia

Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad CoreMedia’s flexibility, headless approach and customization options are supporting your content needs. We appreciate your notes on usability and workflows and are continuously working to make everyday tasks simpler and more intuitive.

CoreMedia does not offer a full Software-as-a-Service solution yet. However, they offer their highly adaptable DXP as Platform-as-a-Service.

"Flexible and very stable Enterprise Content Management System"
4/5
What do you like best about CoreMedia?

CoreMedia is an enterprise content management system that can be customized to meet individual needs. Especially for high loads and fail-safety, the delivery component of the CMS can be very well scaled and expanded as needed. Within CoreMedia, a lot of open source is used, such as Apache Solr, Nginx, and Spring. Since CoreMedia is based on Java, a lot can be adapted and customized with skilled Java backend and frontend developers. Additionally, the collaboration with CoreMedia is very good and trustworthy. The support from CoreMedia is very competent and responds accordingly quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CoreMedia?

CoreMedia can be well operated on Kubernetes but still has a few weaknesses, especially in the editorial area where components cannot be duplicated because certain components are only allowed to run once.

As a result, unfortunately, complete Blue / Green Deployments cannot be carried out.

The communication between the individual components currently still takes place via the CORBA protocol, which is somewhat outdated. There is already an announcement that this will be removed in future versions.

Since CoreMedia is an Enterprise Content Management System that can be customized to one's own needs, it quickly becomes very complex and time-consuming in terms of familiarization and operation, especially in the administrative area.

Updates to newer versions are more complicated because so much can be adjusted and customized, as one's own changes must be ported accordingly. Here, the flexibility of the system is both a curse and a blessing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from CoreMedia Marketing of CoreMedia

Thank you for your detailed feedback! We’re glad to hear you value CoreMedia’s scalability, flexibility and open-source foundations. We appreciate your insights on areas like deployments, protocols and upgrades, and we’re committed to simplifying these further in future versions.
