What problems is BQE CORE solving and how is that benefiting you?
In general, the performance of CORE is inconsistent. It sometimes runs very slow relative to what other software does. It also lacks consistency in the product, so one must do different things to accomplish the same task in different software modules. There doesn't seem to be a roadmap for the development and overall architecture of the software. For example, it claims to have an HR module, and there is thus a database to put in employees' names. One of the fields is for a "display name," but this name is only used sometimes. The provided workaround is to put a person's nickname in as the first name, but that doesn't work when that database is supposed to be used for HR purposes and recordkeeping. It would seem logical that if one had a field for storing a common name by which the person goes, that would be used for display on invoices, timesheets, etc., throughout the software.
While the tech support is good, the management has been unresponsive. For example, we have had issues with their billing and the software design. In the first case, after purchasing the software in a five-year bundle (payment in advance), we found that access to different databases promised by the salesman was not being provided. We were told he had made a mistake and bounced around for months between other lower-level people, who promised to resolve the issue but didn't. In the end, we just gave up after about a year of complaining and returned to using an in-house database that our employees all had access to without paying CORE more money. We also identified an error in how the software calculates PTO in the human resources module. Again, we were bounced around for months and repeatedly told that they were working on fixing the issue, which they agreed was a problem. They eventually revised the HR module a little to solve some issues, but the main problem remained. It has been 3.5 years, and the module still miscalculates PTO, so we cannot use the HR module we paid for.
Reports cannot be filtered and sorted robustly. Reports are limited to only the columns and fields CORE thinks are essential. For example, there is no report that one can run with a list of projects and their locations even though all that data is in the database. One also cannot sort on any custom fields.
