  ### 35. Control-M User Review: Tool for Job Scheduling and Automation in Z/OS Environment

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Venu Gopal D. | Mainframe Programmer and QA, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2024

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

It allows user to define, schedule, monitor jobs across multiple platforms and those jobs can be sceheduled based on time. It can handle large volume of jobs and workflows making the tool usability frequently and easy.Automated scheduling and monitoring of jobs reduce the risk of human error, and enhace the reliability of batch process.
We can get the support from BMC customer care for this tool. It integrates with large number of platforms and databases.

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

It is expensive to implement and has performance issues while dealing with complex workloads. Implementing and integrating it into existing workflow requires changes in the process and requires change management.

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1) It helps in scheduling the Batch jobs in Mainframe Z/OS environment.
2) It helps in executing the Batch jobs both for Test and Production environment.
3) If we want to know the Predessor and successor jobs of a scehdule job it helps in identiying them.
4) We can execute the jobs on ad-hoc basis or we can scehdule them to run at particular time

  ### 36. Useful and adaptable file transfer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Krishna Veni S. | Application Development Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2024

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

It works very well with the modules. We use Control-M Managed File Transfer to script our releases. Since it is adaptable, it is useful in a variety of things.

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

Password vaulting would be a great addition.
There were few stability issues that needs to be improved.

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it mainly for file transfer, inbound and outbound and the integration is very helpful.

  ### 37. Worked as support engineer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

User interface very intutive.
Easy to navigate and learn the possible options.

Central monitoring.
Can integrate with multiple ITIL management tools.

The licensing aspect is based on the number of objects but not on executions.

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

Job as code is a new concept that requires more technical skills for developers

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy to integrate and can integrate with any platform.

  ### 38. BMC's super tool for faster file transfer - CONTROL-M MFT

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Krishna Kumar V. | System Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2023

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

The perfect aspect I like about CONTROL-M's managed file transfer is the tool's interface and protocol for more secure file transfers. The file transfer takes place in the shortest possible time and applies to large files.

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

At first glance, it seems to us that the tool is a bit difficult to implement in the project, sometimes confusing. But over time I feel like a pro. So now I have no problem with it, but sometimes the file transfer fails due to another sync, nothing more to say about that.

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a project-based courier service that handles large volumes of orders etc. The thing is, we get a random date every 5 minutes, all managed independently from the on time delivery tool files. If the file is delayed or blocked, the tool will resend the files to the appropriate destination. This tool makes our wallet smoother and easier.

  ### 39. Upstanding Job Management Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rajeswari Acharya R. | Associate Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

The best sides of the Control-M tool are that it shows jobs more clearly and orderly. This tool also allows you to set the jobs flow view as Map / List / Gantt chart.

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

The only dislike I have in the Control-M is that when you try to load the entire host jobs in the planning section, it will take some time as numerous jobs are present under each server.

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Control-M helped me to identify jobs that come under each folder with specific applications. Also, I can monitor those details through the history tab to check for the past history of the jobs flow. That's quite impressive!

  ### 40. My experience with Control-M Software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Satyanarayan S. | Assistant System Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

Control-M is one of the best personalised tool which helped me to end up with rigourous monitoring.

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

Software is little bit complicated to handle as it requires specialised understanding deep in product.

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Consistent Monitoring is now being replaced with few other works.

  ### 41. Control m

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2021

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

The batches customisation filters where we can apply sub application and can check the batches related to it with graphical representation as grey for waiting, yellow for executing, green for completed

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

It's hard to automate the batches. We can configure with outlook as it sends mail when batches ended not ok but it's difficult to do. Also it takes time to open.

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are checking all critical jobs related to multiple applications and checking the start and end time. If ended ok then we resolve the ticket if not then we investigate

  ### 42. I am working as a Control-M scheduler & Admin…

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ketan c. | Control-M consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

It is best Automation tool & its using at banking sector as well as insurance sector to automate there process..everything is best ...dont no about compititor but control-M hanving its own idenity

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

Nothing as such everythis is perfect..also control-M is not having dislikes for now..easy to handle & anyon can learn control-M..Nothing as of now ..everything is perfect

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its solving manual work & banking n inssurance sector have lots of benifit from Control-M..Because whatever they are doing manually like EOD n all that we can Automate through Control-M

  ### 43. Best tool for automation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Atharva K. | GCP Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

We use automated Control-m jobs to do our housekeeping of MQ servers. So we had to set up the control-m jobs.
It helps to automate most tasks requiring you to log in to the server and spend 10-20 minutes. When you have thousands of servers, there is no option for control-m.

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

Multiple times the Control-m jobs used to fail. So we had to do the task and restart the control-m jobs manually. But this happened rarely. When you compare the overall tasks done by control-m, I don't mind some failures.

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Control-M helps to automate a large quantity of work which will require an extra human resource. If you can automate the task, you can utilize the human resource in much better use.

  ### 44. Monotonous Workflows Simplified and SLAs Reduced through control M implementation.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SHUBHAM D. | Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

The most helpful feature of Control M was the availability of a UI-based platform for the implementation of the activities and repetitive tasks that can be performed through automation and setting the application in Control M.

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

The only drawback was a lack of knowledge base availability due to very less adaptation and implementation in the field where I was working. Being a first mover can bring some friction in terms of new learning and proper execution but once you get hold of it. It becomes easy and fast.

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By Implementing Control-M and DevOps there were multiple production-related deployment tasks and batch jobs executions that were automated reducing manual intervention and errors. Automated deployment of applications on multiple servers and environments in a go was possible along with their active monitoring.

  ### 45. It helped to analyze as well as supported us to monitor batch jobs and its running proceses

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sumit S. | Senior Software Test Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

I like the way it monitors batch jobs in sequence and alerts us of the warning and errors in it so that we can fix them, and it will help the business in continuity

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

All good but only one thing it should notify through mail about the particular job failures so that even if support misses, it will wake you, the stakeholders. That's what I feel

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Yet help us to monitor the batch jobs, and as it alerts any violation, it will reduce the overheads, and the business process will be seamless so that it won't affect the productivity

  ### 46. Very User-friendly, Easy-to-use Control-M

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 05, 2022

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

Control-M Gui is very user friendly and what you see is what you get. There are also multiple tutorials found in Youtube for the differemt functions of the tool

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

What I don't like with scheduling in Control-M is that when you schedule a job that has the same in-condition instead of confirming with you if you want to change the other one, it will add a random number to denote the difference between them.

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Control-M provides job scheduling solutions to Multinational companies that needs Automation. You can automate your processes on demand and on what specific time you need it to be.

  ### 47. Control- M Workload Automation tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** karan j. | BMC Control-M Adminstrator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Control-M?**

BMC Control-M Workload Automation tool has GUI(Graphical User Interface).
With new release web based interface and API capabilities has also increased.
User friendly web helps alot and increase user productivity

**What do you dislike about Control-M?**

They are licenseing Model is something which is not good for small organization.
They charge per job executed in system and separate cost for there modules
If you breach number of jobs licence then penalty is very high

**What problems is Control-M solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Millions of scripts can be executed at once on different machines.
There alerting system and cross dependency is super strong.
One can pass conditions from mainframe to distributed through Control-M
Integration with various ITSM tools is also good

  ### 48. Control -M is very user friendly and good. We can easily monitor and execute the jobs
