I love that Control-M helps me automate any type of job, whether it's on Informatica, Unix shell scripts, or even Python scripts. I'm fully relying on one tool that offers these universal features, automating the daily run workloads seamlessly. The flexibility and unique ability of Control-M to handle various jobs make it valuable, especially as it's globally accepted across my organization. Sometimes, I feel that, in spite of the job setup and the job location and the server specifics being correct, Control-M has trouble understanding these specifics, and the troubleshooting process takes a little bit long time. So maybe, some advanced documentation on how to make this troubleshooting easier could be the best aspect that could be improved. Also, the initial setup was a bit challenging; we had to employ some consultants from IBM and had mentoring for the team. Also, the initial setup and learning curve are a bit steep for new team members. Apart from that, it's a robust tool for scheduling and monitoring batch jobs. In our project, we have many scheduled processes such as file transfers, database jobs, report generation, and application batch jobs. Steep learning curve – It isn’t especially intuitive for new users. Getting comfortable with job definitions, conditions, dependencies, calendars, and resources takes time. Complex setup – The initial installation and configuration, along with integrating it with different systems, can be time-consuming and typically requires experienced administrators. Expensive licensing – It’s geared toward large enterprises, so licensing can be a significant cost, particularly compared with newer workflow orchestration tools. This is very complex and who are already familiar with Control-M desktop client may feel more confuse. Many more components are not available in web interface compared to Desktop client.
