We've been able to customize our Contently program to our highly complex editorial process. The managed services have greatly improved our content marketing overall--we've been able to connect with talented, specialized writers and off-shore much of our line editing to a wonderful Contently editor. The program has enabled us to outsource much of our line-editing and editorial quality control, leaving our in-house team to focus on more strategic work. Likewise, the customizable workflows have helped us fully remove Word documents and email from our editing process. This ensures a faster, more transparent editing process for all involved. Contently has a massive network of freelancers. However, their account managers are excellent as well. They really take the time to understand your companies brand and strategy. This is not really a downside as it is rare to come by, but sometimes the freelancers don't have subject matter expertise. Everything is in one place - not emails. Multiple cross-functional teams can seamlessly come together to review a piece of content with no version control issues. We are also lucky enough to have developed a solid relationship with an excellent Contently freelancer who handles nearly 100% of our content. Our brands love her! Contently recently updated their policy so that funds do not show up until Contently gets paid. Because of this and our company's payment terms for Contently, there is over a one-month lag time between requesting an invoice and seeing the funds in our account. I completely understand why Contently has this policy. However, we are a very seasonable business and need to be agile. This policy makes it difficult to do so. We use Contently for all of our articles across multiple websites and have had a ton of success with increasing organic traffic. Everything related to style guide, goals, objectives, budget, analytics --- all in one place and highly intuitive. Great customer service -always helpful, positive, and patient. There was a period of time where turnover within Contently was impacting the seamless flow of the partnership, but been on a postive path of late. And I will say the replacement team went above and beyond to get on board. And though our managing editor and account manager are always willing to support this request, it would be nice to see writer profiles across the platform and not just those that are assigned to our talent team. With four sites, varying audiences and objectives, and cadence/volume, we wouldn't be able to manage internally.
