"Great Distributed Service Mesh for Modern Programming"

What do you like best?

My favorite features of Consul is its Service Discovery and Distributed Configuration. As an application developer, having such a seamless service discovery tool allows me to focus on the business logic of my code rather than which instance of a server I need to interface with. The Key/Value configuration is also amazing for feature flags in my applications, as well as common config that multiple server instances need to share. The integration of Consul with Spring Boot is also a great plus, as it makes application development even easier.

What do you dislike?

None so far. Keep on adding more helpful features to the Admin UI.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Using the Distributed Key/Value configuration, we are able to change properties on the fly that our applications use for business logic/rules. By not needing to write new code and deploy new instances of our applications, the customer experience is not interrupted.

What do you like best?

The following are the few features which I like about consul:

- Easy to use

- Setting up it for the first time could be a bit tricky.

Consul is used in my company by my team to store key-value securely. We generate the property file externally and bind it in the docker container.

"Wonderful Dev and Ops experience."

What do you like best?

Easy to use, setup, implement and manage. The admin UI has a great user experience and does exactly what it says on the tin.

What do you dislike?

A lot of popular container orchestration software lacks support for Consul, opting for Zookeeper or etcd instead.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Evaluate how Consul will interact with everything else in your stack.

Will you use the DNS interface, or the HTTP one? Ensure you run a good cluster, preferably 1 consul instance on every (virtual) machine if possible.

"Great for service discovery and K-V store "

What do you like best?

Love that service discovery is pretty easy to set up using consul. We can easily externalize application properties through a consul agent. This provides for secure storage of property key values and the best part is we don't even have to restart the application if we change the properties

What do you dislike?

None. Keep building features that we love!
