Intuitive Contracts with Complicated Setup **Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Erin H. **Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2025 **What do you like best about Conga CLM?** I find Conga CLM to be valuable for its out-of-the-box functionality, which streamlines our contracting process within the enterprise business segment. The software's intuitive contract generation process is a standout feature, as it significantly expedites the creation of complex contracts based on input from the sales team and pre-existing information in Sales. Additionally, Conga CLM integrates effectively with Salesforce, enhancing our overall workflow efficiency. **What do you dislike about Conga CLM?** The implementation of Conga CLM was not well-handled, as it involved custom solutions that were excessively complex and difficult to manage. These solutions could have been better designed to facilitate easier maintenance. Furthermore, the support teams did not effectively transfer the knowledge of the implementation to the ongoing support from the Account Management Support (AMS), leading to a lack of understanding of our custom solution. Additionally, the tool for managing templates and redlining, XAuthor, is glitchy and slow, which frustrates our users. It would be preferable to have a different tool for redlining contracts that either is not a Word add-in or functions as a more effective Word add-in. A separate tool for managing the templates would also be ideal. Overall, the setup was overly complex, and the team prioritized meeting deadlines over designing and implementing a sustainable solution that would truly benefit our company. **What problems is Conga CLM solving and how is that benefiting you?** I find Conga CLM expedites contract generation by drafting complex contracts using pre-existing criteria and sales information. Its intuitive process and extensive functionality are beneficial, although I struggle with complex custom solutions and glitchy tools like XAuthor. ### 2. Not great for a SMB sales team that does tons of sign ups for multiple products/services every day. But a few years later i revisted this system and it felt outdated and slow. **Recommendations to others considering Conga CLM:** make sure review their system and other CLMs and determine if it is the right fit for how your company intends to use it. and make sure you define the right stakeholders and get their input prior to making the decision. i believe that the company where first used to the system did not . Locking down boilerplate content in key sections of proposals, and allowing our sales team to pull from a library of approved content should make our proposal process much easier than it is today. **What do you dislike about Conga CLM?** In practice, it's not as user-friendly as it appears. Our users struggle, and have resisted using it. Our proposal volume is low enough that the learning curve is proving to be too steep. There is also no track changes function, which is critical to our review process. **Recommendations to others considering Conga CLM:** Implementation was slow. Some of the challenges were on our end, but some of it was due to misunderstanding during the sales process. And actually going live has been very difficult. **What problems is Conga CLM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Reviewing our proposals takes too long currently, because the entire document needs to be read from beginning to end. I'd love to use Octiv to solve that, but it has not been as easy as we had hoped. ### 7. Redlining. FX2 is okay too. **What do you dislike about Conga CLM?** There are quite some bugs and release issues. It is bad that merge server releases usually caused problems. **What problems is Conga CLM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Faster and single system from quote to cash ### 8. It's allowed us to get things done in a slightly more orderly manner that is less wasteful in terms of creating steps. **What do you dislike about Conga CLM?** Apttus is slow. Our company has seemingly invested a lot in all of our business tools, but Apttus takes an incredibly long time to load. On top of this, it's incredibly clunky in terms of creating contracts. The process by which one must select products and re-price is incredibly inefficient and takes significantly more clicks than other processes. Beyond this, Apttus is very inefficient in terms of how it displays information once it's been entered into the system. I find myself spending a significant amount of time browsing pages to try and find the correct information as I go back to review certain points. **Recommendations to others considering Conga CLM:** I would look carefully at the full process that Apttus can offer you in the context of your actual business. They additional steps and buttons they force you to push are frequently onerous, and it falls significantly short of intuitive. Also be aware that the way it integrates with other solutions may be very clunky at best. **What problems is Conga CLM solving and how is that benefiting you?** We've created a more robust system to record and regulate the processes around getting contracts approved and moved. We do, at this point, have the ability to more closely monitor contracts as they move through the process. ### 9. User required rework because merging options are not very well written when pushing out a proposal from Salesforce.com. **Recommendations to others considering Conga CLM:** Look at other apps before settling for this one. **What problems is Conga CLM solving and how is that benefiting you?** Attempting to shorten sales cycle by having an automatic way of generating proposals out of Salesforce.com.
