## Confluent Reviews
  ### 1. So far so good

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rok . | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

No need to self manage kafka clusters and kafka connect connectors.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

No option to whitelist IP addresses with access to kafka cluster

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A way to connect micro services with each other, message processing. Really useful that we can have multiple consumers processing same events.

  ### 2. Work with Kafka topics and ksqlDB

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Individual & Family Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

ksqlDB provides an excellent instrument to create ETL processes for enriching the data

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

There are a lot of restrictions in ksqlDB and I don't see any improvements in this direction.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Create ETL for enriching data in realtime streaming

  ### 3. Review of confluent

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Religious Institutions | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

It's a straightforward way of interacting with the Kafka ecosystem

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

The UI is very hard to use, and the documentation is out of sync

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's providing a wrapper and managed solution for using Kafka

  ### 4. Truly Serverless workloads with fully managed Kafka

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Srikanth A. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Managing the Kafka and maintaining the underline infra is not an issue anymore, No more issues that are on our heads with proper Fault Tolerant Brokers and Kafka-Connect with Fully manged setup is really good.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

I did not find much of cons here, Its an amazing fully managed Service

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Less headaches with no more monitoring and no more additional human monitoring involved in managing the Kafka Cluster underline infra i.e Broker, and what fascinated me the most is the Fully Managed KafkaConnect with Confluent itself, with this our Event driven Architecture is much more simpler and very much error prone w.r.t to Operations.

  ### 5. Confluent Kafka has very much user friendly interface for viewing a topic's data and meta data.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohammed Inteqab A. | Cloud Data Engineer - Spark, Scala, Kafka, Azure, AWS, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

GUI interface, SQL interaction, meta data showcase, topic information

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Not much i can think of, yet can be improved in the performance side

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used the confluent Kafka product.
Yeah was useful

  ### 6. Confluent offers an easy to use interface for managing and operating Kafka Clusters.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

The user interface provides a seamless experience and has lots of rich features and built-in tools to help you debug. I also like the Free tier clusters.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

The user interface can become laggy when dealing with lots of environments and clusters in the same tenant. It could be improved by providing a more resilient user interface that does not slow down when rendering large amounts of data.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Confluent is solving our managed serverless problem. We do not want to self-manage our own infrastructure for hosting Kafka/serverless events. Instead, we use Confluent to focus on development instead of operations and maintenance.

  ### 7. Feature-rich cloud service with a wonderful support team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David F. | Senior Software Engineer II, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

I should start off by clarifying that my company has not, at this time, moved forward with Confluent. That has to do with the direction our platform is taking, rather than the capabilities/quality of the Confluent solution. As we built a proof of concept with Confluent Cloud, it was very clear that it is feature-rich and very user-friendly. They are actively building a Terraform provider which will allow us to do even more IaC configuration, rather than manually or with deployment scripts.

All that said, I think the place where Confluent shined the most was with regards to the contacts with whom we worked throughout our process. They proactively reached out to us to provide helpful resources/articles/videos, and got on calls with us to discuss implementation solutions and to better understand our needs. There was no pressure for us to sign a contract or move forward with any sales process. Their goal was purely to make themselves available to us so we could build the best possible solution and follow best practices and design standards around the Kafka ecosystem.

Confluent Cloud also offers a lot of wonderful out-of-the-box connectors to systems like SQS, Lambda, etc. It saves you from writing a lot of boilerplate code.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Honestly, this is a tough one to answer because my experience was so overwhelmingly positive. Though I've worked in eventually consistent and event-sourced systems before, I am a Kafka newbie. So, there is a pretty steep learning curve around it. While I do think that Confluent Cloud offered some great resources and tutorials, I wish they could go a step further with demonstrations of how to integrate Kafka with your software, with real-world examples of what the consuming/producing code might look like and how that would fit into your larger application.

Also, I was struggling to understand how multiple message producers could write messages with optimistic concurrency, a la EventStoreDb.

**Recommendations to others considering Confluent:**

Give it a shot. You can get an evaluation coupon code upon signup that allows you to play around with Confluent Cloud and try it for yourself.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problems we were looking to solve were to have an immutable ledger that serves as the source of truth for all changes to the system. I also want a system that leverages eventual consistency to help create loose coupling between services and to have a higher system resiliency/disaster recovery.

Some benefits I realized from Kafka/Confluent Cloud specifically are the power of KSQL, which essentially serves as an abstraction from a lot of the producer/consumer code you'd otherwise have to write in your application logic. It's incredibly powerful, and is drastically simpler to write than lambda/worker logic that you'd otherwise need to create.

  ### 8. Best service of Kafka on cloud

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Easy to use and easy to deploy. And also easy to learn.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

They should include more tutorial on website.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is best solution for Stream processing and message queue

  ### 9. Confluent is a great platform, easy and fast up with speed

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Making your data available in a modern, flexible and easy scalable solution. I like all connectors avilable and security features now and coming.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

A guidance of how to get up and running with confluent as code.

**Recommendations to others considering Confluent:**

Compare your internal knowledge in event programming, usage of connectors can be more costly and might need dedicated clustering. However if you have a single cloud environment it will be effective and easy to use. You will be up and running with your first cluster in no time.
But remember to do your homework with a good event architecture and document your events in schemas, it will give you lots of benefits in the long run.
I have used both opensource Apache Kafka and confluent cloud.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integration between our applications on different platforms and also making AI run as near as possible in realtime. These integrations makes us more productive and we have also been able to benefit from our events several times in new use cases.

  ### 10. Easiest way to get up running a fully featured kafka cluster

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

It requires just a few clicks to start a cluster.
The documentation is very good.
The support is reactive.
It works exactly like a native kafka cluster expect it's fully managed so you don't have to maintain it and can concentrate on your application development.
The sales team is also very nice. We were able to sign a contract that satisfy both of us to allow to grow on a multi-year basis.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

You have to be very careful with the pricing. Even if you don't send any data, you have to pay for the number of partitions you have. The price can go up quickly for just a few hundred partitions.
The control center UI to visualize topic contents is not really good. You should consider using alternatives like Kowl which is much more performant and has a better UX.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Several things :
- We are streaming transactional changes between microservices applications (CDC using debezium)
- We are processing IOT Data
- We are processing and enriching data to integrate our applications with thirs parties

  ### 11. Easiest path to production Kafka

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Sports | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

We had a working Kafka cluster in minutes that was easy to experiment with and run various load testing scenarios. When we switched to a production load it was just as simple.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

We had some configuration issues early because of signup on their site directly vs through the cloud marketplace, eventually got it sorted - but was a hassle. Depending on your architecture and usage price can be fairly high. So far we are happy with overall cost vs managing our own.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a reliable messaging infrastructure with: easy polyglot support, reliable replay, batched message handling, automated scaling, and downstream integrations (connectors). Confluent delivers it all with a slick ops UI. For fully managed Kafka, we don't see any competitor that comes close to Confluent.

  ### 12. Good managed Kafka Cluster, a bit expensive however for connect and ksqldb

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicolas E. | Lead Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Managed Kafka cluster, confluent API, Great documentation and community

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

The cost is a bit prohibitive for the pay per use cluster since ksqldb creates so many internal topics (changelogs, repartitions) and the pricing for managed ksqldb is very constraining, and UDFs are not supported.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Event driven microservices, stream processing pipelines, redefining our architecture where Kafka is the single source of truth. Productivity is not yet there yet since there is a certain learning curve and paradigm shift for developers on our team not yet acquired.

  ### 13. Reliable Cloud Kafka

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kieran M. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

We don't have to maintain our Kafka brokers.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Pricing by partition & It would be great to be able to assign more granular permissions to users.

**Recommendations to others considering Confluent:**

Consider your architecture requirements carefully - don't over-engineer. Use SaaS where appropriate for your organisation.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Supporting our Event Driven Architecture.

  ### 14. Best Streaming Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manu C. | Technical Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Kafka topics store more data in comparison to Kinesis service provided by AWS. This gives more flexibility to handle large amount of data for our processing purposes.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Managed service provides a better environment for our development and other purposes. It gives a plug and play feature to work with however when we talk about Kafka, we need to set up various things on our own which makes it a little complex in comparison to any managed service.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Kafka to have the near real time ingestion data pipeline. It allows us to move the data as and when the data arrives in the staging layer which we later pick up to create any KPIs or KRIs.

  ### 15. Confluent: a great platform for asynchronous communication and data processing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

I really like the Apache Kafka broker, the Avro serialization that is well integrated with the confluent schema registry.
The schema registry can spot potential bugs related to malformed data.
I'm using a lot also the Connect framework, allowing to integrate many existing systems without the need to write new code.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

I think that it should be more evident the difference between the open-source Apache Kafka echosystem and the confluent platform. The difference between the two should be more transparent in what is possible to do or not to do without paying a confluent license.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Confluent allows me to integrate complex systems togheter. It solves the asynchronous communication, backpressure among slow systems, and reprocessing of data pipelines.

  ### 16. Simplicity at its Best

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

I find it an excellent platform to have Managed Kafka, and the flexibility it offers is amazing. I liked the part of not managing the brokers and zookeepers and maintaining good abstraction while maintaining security features and separation of workloads with different clusters within a single environment. I find it better than others when coming to support, you will potentially get more realistic answers than other cloud-provided managed Kafka.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Not many cons.
confluent UI could be improved a bit more and ccloud CLI should also offer much more options as in Kafka CLI. Should offer & expose some APIs to monitor the clusters and metrics.
Should offer IaC(terraform) could be game-changing.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No more downtimes have been observed when compared to self-managed systems. Support from Confluent for the issues which cannot be easily solved by engineers. Our clients business definitely improved

  ### 17. Confulent review in nanobebe

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Easy to use and navigate, UI looks good and works well, can't see Avro messages

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

a bit hard to get logs and good observability. I Think confluent should notify users when outage notify users via emails when they happen

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

IOT Telemetry Bulk inserts, easy to use and no maintece requried

  ### 18. Best Streaming Platform on the cloud

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dilip k. | Senior Cloud and Devops Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Easiest to set up and get the work done using the documentation provided. Excellent customer support and will easily understand the concepts so quickly and can create a significant impact in the businesses.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

There is room for a lot of improvement, and there is a need to introduce a lot of features to enhance the product and to match the product. Compared to others in the current market, It is getting its edge in the requirements.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data streaming service on the cloud and excellent documentation provided to understand the working easily and help the projects reduce time. Ideal usage will give your project a great time saving and significant cost-saving indeed.

  ### 19. Overall best but few shortcomings

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aishwarya G. | Assistant Professor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Compared to AWS kinesis, it does not have any message limits and highly customized and scalable streaming technology.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

It is lacking in terms of managed service and detailed information regarding the message delivery. There could be major enhancements in terms of enterprise support that we can use in AWS kinesis.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using this software in a few of the POCs where we are streaming data from MS SQL server (operational data store) to Oracle server(for analytics) using pyspark and confluent kafka through hive tables. This is being done using Oracle CDC connector to implement DWH requirements.

  ### 20. Great Streaming technology compared to Kinesis

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aakash A. | Technical Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

We have the freedom of limits like kinesis we are bound. In my opinion, kinesis is very good technology in the market. Great connectivity with other data sources.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

The only suggestion is, please have two versions, one is the existing one which confluent cloud is and launch the second one which is fully managed. This will greatly help the newbies in kafka environment

**Recommendations to others considering Confluent:**

NA

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating the data pipelines from mysql to hive, hive then ingesting the data into kafka in serialization format i.e., Avro. At consumer side, we have a kafka connector (JDBC CDC connector) to load to mysql server

  ### 21. Overall Excellent Streaming Platform but need minor enhancements

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aakash A. | Technical Lead at Paytm, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

The ability to scale up to any extent depending on the available commodity hardware in the organization.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Nothing as such. For a person who is beginner in streaming systems, it is quite difficult to learn.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our organization has a very large data volume that generates daily. This is payments-related data which is served for multiple reporting systems for insight. Confluent caters our need for the same.

  ### 22. Confluent for all the business streaming applications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sai K. | Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2021

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Confluent kafka is best ever streaming platform exists till date and it has been upgrading the feature with most advance connectivity with very minimal of efforts. Kafka is best ever tool found till date

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

As it is a demanding software, for the beginners to learn and explore it would need extra efforts to learn. The logs finding is not that easy to find for any sort of error. It would need much of improvements.

**Recommendations to others considering Confluent:**

Definitely would recommend use of this for any streaming application user for the low latency and data loss between producer and consumer

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

End to end data support from Producer to consumer with the speed data transfer and multi connection without being configured individually. The data avaio can be set as per the requirements and it can have many options like redundency using replicas,

The topic feature in which we can produce and consume data and the partition part I liked the most. The throughout is high and latency is less.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Nothing.Only I faced an issue where there was a lag of messages to be consumed.

**Recommendations to others considering Confluent:**

You can consider confluent if you require a large amount of data needed to be streamed efficiently with alot of settings.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am working on storing and sending data for my client at my organization. The throughout and performance of confluent is high.

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Their learning resources are great, but it all leads to buying Confluent for Kafka.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

But we're good engineers here. Do we really need to buy into all of it?

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to get a changelog as a source of truth. Basically, what Ben Stopford calls turning the database inside out. But for now, I think we can do it ourselves.

  ### 40. Work experience with confluent platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shekhar P. | Artificial Intelligence Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 12, 2020

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

The best things of the confluent platform to use Apache Kafka is connectors. They provide a lot of connectors which we can use in our project without writing any single lines of code.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Documentation is not up to date and some times missed lot of concepts about connectors. I faced a lot of issues because no proper documentation and always has to ask in stack overflow or some other way to get rid of those missed concepts. But except of these things, confluent platform is awesome.

**Recommendations to others considering Confluent:**

Yes, I recommend the Confluent platform because it's easy to use and along with they support lot of different companies through connectors. The confluent platform provides easy to use to other data streaming platform which is best in the market still. So I recommend using at least once time to get features of this.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Streaming data from multiple sources to different sources.
2. Data analytics
3. Kafka to Apache Spark data streaming for machine learning.

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Kafka as a product confluent provides the best cloud service, regular updates, multi-region clusters, auto data balancer. It has connectors where we can integrate multiple technologies.
Better monitoring for Kafka cluster and topic statistics.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

There is no auto client failover on the multi-regional cluster, lack of server-level metric, the product should be cover its complete server resources monitoring.

**Recommendations to others considering Confluent:**

Confluent is the one for the dedicated vendor, as we know that no one has an as far vision on kafka except Confluent.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Consumer off-set management with confluent replicator we can sync offset over the cluster, also with auto data balancer partitions reassignment process is much easier.
Kubernetes support.

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

Confluent Kafka Clients are the most easy to setup and with detailed documentation. You are almost certain to find the solution to the issues you would be facing while implementation through Confluent website.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

The pricing of Confluent for managing Kafka is pretty high and it could be made better to include smaller organisations.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used Confluent Kafka clients extensively using Confluent hub to manage the data flow in and out of Apache Kafka to DBs, S3 etc.

  ### 45. Streaming platform for enterprises

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raghuram G. | Lead Software Engineer Internship, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2020

Ease to use Kafka, Kafka can be bit tough to start both from infra as well as programmatically. confluent makes it easier to manage a kafka cluster. They help in deployment strategies.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Some of their methods especially regarding avro conversions are still not in the framework. The framework can have much easier DSLs. Sometimes the testing part with the current framework is very hard.

**Recommendations to others considering Confluent:**

A steady streaming platform for doing click stream analytics and for setting infrastructure confluent support comes handy.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we use Kafka for click stream analytics and in real time we are able to reach out to the customer. Without Kafka its almost impossible to solve this problem in real time.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christian U. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

Ability to quickly setup pub/sub pattern through Kafka topics and have full visibility end-to-end for producers and consumers through Confluent center. Easy to scale by adding brokers and "no downtime" deployments of software updates/patches.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

Not much to dislike at now. There are certain software features including those around RBAC which are currently immature, but these things are a part of the upcoming roadmap and expected to be fully implemented in 2020.

**Recommendations to others considering Confluent:**

For larger organizations that can have restrictions around software installs and an important security presence, confirm to induce these items to the table from the beginning. Confluent provides many ways to put in their software from Ansible scripts to Operator, and manual TAR installs. make sure you've got everything necessary in situ before your on-site engagement to the best profit of the Confluent resources and not waste any time on internal blockers/house-keeping.

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With confluent, we have been able to improve business process outcomes and reduce time to market our products

  ### 47. Confluent Kafka SAAS at its best

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Confluent?**

I used Confluent Kafka for one of my product,
I recommended using confluent Kafka for my next project ahead of Heroku's Kafka and AWS MSK.
It won't charge per broker as AWS does.

Nice GUI, Lot of connectors that make it easy for anyone to use this feature.Using Kafka-Connect API is very painful.

Confluent makes use of AWS and GCP and Azure and makes Kafka better and easy.
I felt AWS MSK is very high in pricing and tough to set. For Interacting with MSK cluster, we also need proxy where in confluent we don't need.

**What do you dislike about Confluent?**

I had found some bugs regarding consuming the messages in portal

**What problems is Confluent solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Self Managed Kafka Clusters is a huge problem everywhere,
Confluent Kafka solves it better than the big guys(AWS, Azure, GCP)
