There are lots of useful features and yet it's not too overloaded with functions. From creating projects (with templates) to creating sessions with auto-transcription and evaluating them using tagging and artifact templates, it's a great daily used companion for research projects. The implementation of the tool was very low-threshold and Alex and the support team were on hand from the very beginning with a very open exchange. **What do you dislike about Condens?** Sometimes we still find it difficult to create a link between the artifacts and the other tools for further work with insights. Additional Miro boards often have to be created. We are also constantly reflecting on which form of presentation is best received by our internal users - this is not yet 100% ideal for us. That works wonderfully; the transcripts aren’t perfect, but definitely good enough to use, even with Dutch audio (so not English). The tagging and clustering of insights works well, and allows us to get short clips from the interviews to support insights while presenting them to stakeholders. Additionally, the support was really quick, friendly and to the point. Even product suggestions were partially implemented quickly. **What do you dislike about Condens?** There isn’t necessarily something I dislike. However, some specific keyboard shortcuts would make my workflow a bit quicker and easier. The side-by-side view of analysis and artefact creation is a massive time save for us. The ability to adjust the size and placement of the video player has been brilliant for when listening to interviews vs usability tests where you really need to see the detail of interactions. The workspaces and repositories will give research a longer shelf life and help others to engage with all the learnings from the research team. The whole team at Condens are SO helpful! They have helped us migrate our data from Dovetail which saved a massive amount of time and meant that we can still access all our existing research, but make it better with Condens. It's honestly been the best customer service I think I have ever received. They're helpful, responsive and knowledgeable. **What do you dislike about Condens?** The transcription minutes allowance on the trial wasn't enough for our whole team to truly try out the tool, but having spoken to the team, they kindly gave us an additional trial of the product so we could fully assess if it was the tool for us. **What problems is Condens solving and how is that benefiting you?** It has really sped up our analysis time & processing of data. As a consultancy we have clients wanting to know what is going on and what we have learned so being able to turn around insights quickly has really helped. I certainly do! I have always felt strongly that we should find people/companies doing the right thing and call them out rather than focusing on companies doing the wrong thing and calling them out. I just had such a wonderful experience with www.condens.io which we are using for user research and I wanted to share it with folks here. So far it has been better than any other tool for recording customer interviews, tagging the info in the interview and using it to generate insights. We were struggling with bringing in word docs that had our interview notes. I reached out through the in-app suggestion tool and got a response within hours. They told me the cut/paste from MS Word was a struggle for them but they would have a feature to import a Word doc very soon. Then 24hr later they send me a personal e-mail telling me the feature is done. I just tried it and it worked quite well. Retained enough formatting to make it easy to navigate the doc and tag the pertinent info. I am so impressed with this new product Condens and the dedication the team has to their users. Way to go! **What do you dislike about Condens?** Still work needed to improve the cut/paste from MS Word. The Import from MS Word is good enough to retain enough of the formating to be able to pull in old interview notes and consolidated research summary and get them properly tagged **What problems is Condens solving and how is that benefiting you?** Annotating and tagging user / customer interviews. One can take interview notes and then tag them and use the data to generate very high-quality reports. The tool will also transcribe a video recording of a meeting and then you can skip the note-taking altogether and just tag the transcript of the meeting recording. A few notes about each. As a repository, Condens has some great features like structured sections and attributes for projects, project and global tags, unlimited sharing of findings with stakeholders, search, etc. We still have a ways to go to fully make research visible in our org and leverage all Condens has to offer, but we're getting there. I've recently been putting Condens' analysis tools through the paces and am very impressed with the synthesis workflow, especially the ability to take highlights (tagged notes or transcript pieces) and cluster them in a "conclusion". When a highlight is a tagged bit of video transcript, it's both a reusable video clip /and/ a unit of insight. You can even export a cluster of such clips to create a highlight reel! This is a very natural-feeling workflow with traceability back to raw data that I haven't seen anywhere else. The software is fast and generally error-free. Any bugs I've encountered have been fixed quickly. The last thing I'll mention is the excellent customer support. My questions are answered within hours and often lead to software changes. It's great to be in touch with the makers of the tool — one of the benefits of a product supported by a small team. **What do you dislike about Condens?** I hesitate to mention too many negatives about the repository since I haven't used all of the features here. In terms of analysis/synthesis, I think are some interaction design details that can be improved (many of which I've mentioned to the Condens team) to make the clustering feel effortless — but they're getting there. We've yet to determine the best way of creating insights that live beyond the context of a project — these might be "conclusions", but I'm not entirely sure. Again, this might be a function of our relative newness to the platform. I'm very optimistic about Condens as a long-term platform for UX (and marketing) research — its analysis, storage, and retrieval to create a company-wide long-term memory of all we've learned about our customers! **What problems is Condens solving and how is that benefiting you?** Condens is helping us analyze, store, and retrieve insights about our customers, from primarily qualitative data (moderated and unmoderated interviews). Also, their support: questions are answered quickly and thoroughly, we even had some ad-hoc feature changes implemented: never experienced that before! **What do you dislike about Condens?** The weakest feature is the automated transcriptions, which we have applied for dutch spoken interviews. It does work: most of the time the context is correct, sometimes entire sentences are too, and then sometimes it's completely wrong. Can't say we have seen this work better elsewhere thou. **Recommendations to others considering Condens:** As we are a bank in Belgium, being European GDPR compliant is an absolute must for our legal department; Condens not only is compliant, they have all documentation needed to process this through your procurement department, which saved us a lot of time. Make sure someone is in the lead in setting up your project and maintaining the structure and planning. **What problems is Condens solving and how is that benefiting you?** Condens really boosts our user research and makes it possible to very easily share recorded quotes instead of textual summaries. There are smaller things in the account administration that aren't as intuitive as one might think, but it's never a big issue. **What problems is Condens solving and how is that benefiting you?** Initially we were looking for a transcription tool for multiple languages (not just English) and quickly realised that Condens can help with data analysis, sharing research results, prepare video snippets, etc. as well. It helps a lot, especially with larger projects that have a lot of sessions / participants. And it's great you don't solely have to rely on your notes anymore when analysing. Being able to use tags in the transcriptions makes it super easy to extract quotes and bring research reports to life. ### 22. One is the repository aspect. There are so many places where conversations and research has been documented, it's so helpful to have everything in one place that stakeholders can search through and find past research. I like the ability to transcribe video and audio! But the thing I like the most is the ability to quickly highlight and tag data, and then drag and drop common data points into themes, all the while creating your final report on the fly as you go! It's such a time saver. **What do you dislike about Condens?** I mentioned liking the transcription feature. While I do like it and can make out what it's trying to transcribe, the accuracy I don't think is quite there yet. I also don't like not having the ability to detach video clips from the highlight I'm dragging into the Conclusion. I'd like the option to not include a video clip with every single data highlight I use. **What problems is Condens solving and how is that benefiting you?** The main benefit for me is time savings. I have the transcription linked to the text, code and analysis I do. I can create reports in the same tool with video and audio clips. I am able to complete projects faster. I can increase the amount of projects I can work on. I am able to analyse usability testing projects in the same tool where I analyse interview-based projects I can do the analysis for usability testing projects in the same tool. Reports are more attractive and compelling. For my company is important that the company is in the EU and GDPR compelling. Audios can be imported and transcribed and it facilitates grouping insights into different clusters and then summarizing them. I tried several other tools and I was annoyed by how little intuitive and user-friendly they were compared to Condens. It has been really easy for me to get a hang of it. I love that I can change the formatting of the conclusions and add different headings, lists, and quotes. It's also really easy to organize insights by creating tags and clustering them into different groups. Afterward, the tagged content can be simply dragged and dropped into different conclusions As a student, I was able to reach out and get a student discount that supported me to complete my thesis. **What do you dislike about Condens?** Not a huge point but I would love to be able to export the conclusions into word documents so that I can easily integrate the insights with the rest of the research. **What problems is Condens solving and how is that benefiting you?** I hadn't found a tool where it was so easy to upload interview audios, create transcriptions, code the insights, and generate conclusions. Having using NVivo (as well as Microsoft Word) for coding in the past, Condens is such an improvement! Everything feels very streamlined, and the platform is pretty intuitive. Tagging and organizing tags are simple, and I really like the ability to easily compare findings across respondents. Also having a built-in Conclusions "notepad" essentially for jotting down findings, notes, questions, etc. is very convenient. **What do you dislike about Condens?** There are two features I would like to see. One (which I've shared with Condens) is the ability to "dock" my list of tags. It is sometimes easy to overlook certain codes (in my case, if used relatively infrequently), so it would be ideal to have them as a fixture on my screen--akin to the Conclusion feature. Two, as far as I can tell, there are really only two levels of tags--the group, and the individual tag. Creating codes that are more granular (tags within specific tags) does not seem to be possible, but I'd love to be wrong. **What problems is Condens solving and how is that benefiting you?** Condens is a much more efficient--and more rigorous--means of coding transcripts, and it helps solve potential consistency issues if coding in, for example, Word. Unfortunately most of the typing is done in Word, G Docs or something. However each note / insight is typically isolated. What I found with my research is that I'd have to transfer it all to sticky notes just to extrapolate the points. Synthesis was a nightmare. And then I got introduced to Condens. What would have taken me 6 days, instead took me 6 hours.I had 8 usability tests to transcribe and analyse and I was able to tag and triangulate. By creating clusters, logical groups quickly formed (with colour coded options because I'm OCD). The conclusion aspect brought all my research together and it was so smooth, yet accurate. The Condens team are great, they will give you detailed responses and are quick to help. They've been excellent at sorting issues, releasing features and being super flexible. **What do you dislike about Condens?** The payment process had some hiccups as there isn't too much access to account management, but I am confident that these guys will optimise this. They were super flexible in extending our trial and giving us freebies. Would eventually like to see different font / styling options. But this is preference / taste. It'd be cool to whitelabel some of this - so I can se my companies/clients branding for eg. Would be great to see more integrations with cloud platforms (ie Google Docs). I can add quotes to my conclusion as I'm processing the data, and also add my own notes and reflections with a rich-text editor. **What do you dislike about Condens?** As with any young product, there are some things that need a little polish. For example, relatively new feature - sortable clusters - is great, but I wish it wouldn't ask me to sort my cluster as I go. Sometimes I just want to quickly sort quotes by cluster, and then move on to arranging clusters in a particular order. **Recommendations to others considering Condens:** It's a great tool for smaller organizations (maybe for bigger too), who look for consistent ways of organizing their research findings, but don't want to break a bank paying for more expensive competitors. It is improving continuously; now you can also tag on an audio and video. **What do you dislike about Condens?** It is excellent to analyse after the research assembly.
