Collectiv implemented a Power BI-based financial planning solution. This involved creating a write-back solution, semantic data model, and workflow for approval.
The write-back solution involved two main planning areas: projects and operating expenses. The solution provided is flexible to data entry and various forecasting methodologies. For example, we can build bottom up and we can also take a top-down approach. The write-back planning solution also contains commentary functionality, with the possibility of annotating every available data intersection.
The semantic data model brings together data from the aforementioned areas, projects and operating expenses, and fact data from other areas. For example, Collectiv integrated our CRM data so that we are able to analyze it for financial planning purposes.
The reporting and governance opportunity from this project is robust and only limited by the imagination of the developer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you like best?
Collectiv has harnessed the Microsoft data platform to create a highly flexible financial planning solution. In my experience with other products, there have been limitations that include an inflexible data architecture structure (i.e. we have to fit our data to the product), high price tag, and proprietary reporting mechanisms with limitations for distribution. Ted Stathakis presented the material and information clearly and succinctly so that the team understood how to mesh the needs to the business with the abilities of the two programs. Collectiv has worked with us on a number of projects. First, we took their Dashboard in a Day class. This really got us kicked off on our PowerBI Journey.
After that, we had an onsite engagement where they queried our staff and discovered our needs to help us align on data strategy. The end result was a fast start document which had best practices recommendations and a roadmap for success.
Our next engagement was to have them help us with some development efforts and further training. They are experts in Financial Reporting and were able to create a Finance Dashboard to suite the needs of our CEO and our Board.
At present time, we continue to work with them on building a Predictive Model for Loan Attrition based on ongoing factors. They continue to be easy to work with and their results are top notch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

They helped us build a BI Interface that gave multiple departments the ability to look at what they needed all using the same data. We've struggled with reporting out of our ERP with different department heads getting different results and numbers because they were using different reports or reporting measures. Collectiv is very knowledgeable in what they do and understand the finance side as well, it isn't often a tech savvy team also understands the financial needs as well.
