What do you like best about CoGrader?
CoGrader is relatively easy to use, and the training videos are quick and informative. This program has cut my writing grading time in half. I use it weekly to grade short-answer questions and full essays, both with and without prompts.
It integrates with Google Classroom, along with other commonly used classroom programs. When I use a Google Form, CoGrader works seamlessly to upload and grade each assignment. For other writing assignments, I can copy and paste student work into CoGrader using the manual submission option. There is even an option to upload a picture of handwritten work for CoGrader to grade.
They offer several ready-to-use rubrics, and you can upload your state or district rubrics as well. My favorite feature is being able to create my own rubric using an exemplar response. CoGrader does a wonderful job using the exemplar to grade the writing; however, you also have the option to adjust grading parameters if CoGrader’s response isn’t quite what you intended.
The feedback CoGrader provides helps me give relevant, timely feedback to my students. If you’re using a program that integrates with CoGrader, exporting graded work and feedback is as simple as clicking a button. If you’re using a program that requires manual submission, you can still easily copy and paste the grade and feedback into your platform, which makes implementation feel very manageable.
CoGrader is also consistently improving its software and rolling out updates, and those updates are seamless. All you have to do is click a button, and whatever you’re working on refreshes right on your screen. Their customer support is impressive, too. You can chat online, and the chat automatically becomes an email thread, so you don’t miss anything if you have to step away or if they need to follow up later. Response time is minimal, and for longer issues, they check in so you know they’re still working on it.
I highly recommend CoGrader to any teacher who has to grade writing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What do you dislike about CoGrader?
I’d like to see CoGrader integrate more seamlessly with other commonly used ELA programs, not only learning platforms like Google Classroom. CommonLit and ReadWorks are well-known, frequently used reading programs that include both multiple-choice and writing questions, and an integration there would be valuable.
Beyond ELA-specific tools, it would also be extremely helpful if CoGrader could integrate writing components from state and district curricula. Many of the curricula we use have their own required online quizzes and tests. While we can copy and paste student writing into CoGrader for grading, it would be much more convenient to have those sources integrated the way Google Forms are. Imagine Learning and Amplify are two commonly used curricula that fit this situation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
