"Necessary for any hiring process"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Coderbyte?

Having a code testing tool is 100% necessary in the tech industry. There are many options in the marketplace at the moment and most of them come with a high price tag. However, Coderbyte does very nicely to compete with others, but at a much smaller cost. The product is good for its ease of use; candidates have a nice coding window, and it tries to prevent cheating where possible. One of the best features is reviewing the output of the candidate in the video, to see how they worked out the problem and how they refactored. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coderbyte?

The interface that is used for front-end development could be better and allow the interface to show changes in real-time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Helpful tool for screening dev applicants"
4/5
What do you like best about Coderbyte?

There is a decent set of questions to choose from to help you get started. Specifically, the coding challenges provided a good variety of difficulties and focus. We found several that were appropriate for the role we were looking for.

Being able to play back candidates coding challenges was incredibly helpful in helping us more accurately review candidate work - rule out cheating, recognize natural iterative progression as candidates moved through the questions, etc.

Having multiple-choice questions and coding challenges represented in the same quiz was an excellent option. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coderbyte?

The multiple-choice question sets were a little lackluster, and modifying and creating our own questions was cumbersome. Especially moving questions between sets when we wanted to duplicate individual questions (not just duplicate the whole set of questions). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Structured and Professional"
5/5
What do you like best about Coderbyte?

Coderbyte platform is very nicely structured that we can select from a range of questions, challenges and open questions for a range of roles. The quality of the questions are accurate and correctly targetted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coderbyte?

In 2 occasions, our candidates said that they have completed all the challenges, but from the assessments perpective it looks like they skipped 1-2 challenges, this resulted in them having lower mark. Not exactly sure what happened. Once we resend the assessment, they are able to complete all the challenges. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good value for money"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Coderbyte?

Coderbyte offers the most commonly used tools for technical screening and works very well in general.

Assessments and question sets are easily created and maintained. Scoring a candidate is convenient with the summary you get in the and there are no limits for how many users you can create and tests you can have, which probably no other platform offers.

Furthermore it comes with helpful tools like cheating detection and a timeline for the coding parts that allows us to easily detect cheating attempts.

We don't use the interview tool so far, but it looks good and is there.

Support is very helpful and replies quickly.

All in all a great tool and uncontested in the price. I'm really happy with our choice to migrate to Coderbyte. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Coderbyte?

We found 1 or 2 bugs in the coding templates that made our live harder in migrating from another platform. We were able to work around them pretty easily, but finding the issues took some time and we had quite a few tests where the candidates failed with our coding task because of that. If you do not want to worry about that, I recommend choosing from the task library they offer.

I'm a fan of multiple select questions, which is unfortunately not supported (yet?). Therefore I have to rephrase a more complicated multiple select question into a multiple choice question, which feels ackward from time to time and will not be as difficult afterwards anymore. What do you dislike about Coderbyte?

I feel there's room for improvement in providing more detailed feedback on failed test cases. Sometimes, the automated feedback isn't as comprehensive as we'd like, leaving us to deduce the issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
