What do you like best?

A good-enough database of challenges at a price that is management for a small business. Many similar products cost more than $5000 a year and don't have a way to implement them without committing to pay. For a startup or small organization, this is really not worth the money. However, this product can be had for as little as $200 monthly for a limit-less account. For businesses with a lot of applicants, it is easy to pre-screen people based on their technical capabilities before wasting resources on interviewing for cultural fit, etc.

I recommend creating an assessment with both easy and harder challenges to better gauge the level of the person. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Some of the challenge instructions are confusing and need to be refined. Also, it would be great if I could easily change the language of the challenges instructions.

I also don't like that there isn't (or doesn't appear to be) a way to order the challenges in each assessment. I have to manually instruct candidates to choose the easier challenges. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We want to technically pre-assess candidates so that we have a better idea of what they are capable of before we have our busy lead developer do a technical interview.

What do you like best?

It's an easy way to create assessments for any candidate. It truly does save time and effort by allowing you to select from a list of pre-built questions or create your own. The questions are categorized by levels and there are even language specific questions. Coderbyte also gives you the ability to edit email templates to customize the content sent to candidates. What do you dislike?

The only thing I would change for the time being is the welcome screen for candidates taking the exam, it could use more information like the amount of questions and the languages allowed. What do you like best?

Coderbyte allowed us to easily design a screening test based on the requirements for our software build. We are a small company and the pricing worked great for us. Additionally, the recording feature allowed us to catch several applicants who were dishonest and remove them from consideration. As someone who is not a developer, Coderbyte made it easy to confidently hire the first developer for our company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The only negative was that the multiple choice and problem solving questions were all weighted equally on the scoring of the exam. I would have made the multiple choice weighted less. What do you like best?

Coderbyte provides pretty much all the functionalities required for screening and interviewing candidates and it is very affordable when you compare it with other solutions. (We are a small company and we hire about 2-8 software developers every year.) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We were previously using Hackerrank. Hackerrank is a great product but their pricing was too high for us.

We were looking for a similar platform but with lower pricing. We evaluated CodeSignal too, but it cost even more than HackerRank.

If you have the need to test Software and QA professionals, this is the platform for you. I would recommend this if you are needing a solid platform that quickly tests candidates. I really like the ease of use. There is not much that I dislike at this time. I also like how many other companies are using this and that affected our Buy decision. I am hoping that we see more testing capabilities and languages added as time goes on as I can see us using this software for a long time. What do you like best?

That CoderByte tracks candidates leaving the tab and also the video recording feature where I can re-watch the entire test process as if you were on a live screenshare session with the candidate! What do you like best?

What do you like best?

Tests are very easy to set up and candidates like it because they still can use google and they also have the same interface type as in Visual Studio (with code autocomplete and validation). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I would like more diversity in the tests. There are enough tests to test a candidate, but many are situations likely to be covered in school courses. When hiring a freshly graduated candidate, it's more likely they will know what to do because they have done the same test at school. Resumes and brand names don't tell me anything about a candidate's ability. I was spending way too much time talking to people who couldn't talk through simple problems and missing out on fast moving high quality candidates.

What do you like best?

We've been using Coderbyte to assess candidates applying for our coding bootcamp. It's been the perfect platform for the assessments at the right level for people who haven't done any coding before. There is a huge selection of challenges at different levels in a huge range of languages. The NUMBER ONE thing about the platform is the communication and support from Daniel the CEO, he's made amendments to the platform when requested, and given a really quick turnaround. What do you like best?

I like the simple interface with all the functionality like scheduling the live interview, what is the result and projects Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The questions are not described properly. There should have been more examples, images to explain the questions. There should be a timer function which the admin can enable or disable on each question while giving the interview session. It does not have proper plagiarism checks. Only the screen and tab level checks are there but there should have been the webcam mandatory enabled and different portals have the system checks as well before attempting for any test, be it live or take home assignment. The projects and language specific questions also should have been improved. Right now there are very limited number of questions specific to a language such as react, node, golang, python etc. There should be the basic objective questions as well as subjective questions so that the theoretical part is also tested and while sending the take home aassignment, these concepts are also tested Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Its a simple yet powerful tool. It makes the process really easy for the interviewers. The trustable product it is. I would like to recommend this product to others because of its features, simplicity and useful less. But this product is only for the users who have pre defined knowledge of the questions and able to ask different test cases in every question as this tool does not have pre defined test cases. Minimizing the extra time of giving and sitting idle while the candidate solves the questions. Also, the part which I really did not like about code byte is it does not have the sets of predefined and checked test cases to run on the submitted answers in any type of interview session. However, we of course have to balance that with maintaining the industry's best candidate experience. This tradeoff is in your best interest as it means that candidates will take assessments on Coderbyte that you invite them to.

Platforms like HackerEarth that intrusively force candidates to record their faces comes at a steep cost (not to mention moral hazard). After awhile, these platforms develop a terrible reputation in the developer community.

We'll never let that happen. Sustainable, unbiased recruiting is our top priority and we are developing far better and more user-friendly approaches to cheating detection that we expect to release in the next few months.

What do you like best?

The video recordings, the fact it is a one stop shop for both our needs: screening candidates and running remote sessions.

We use a lot the library of coding problems for defining exercises that we send out to candidates.

I find the main dashboard to be intuitive and easy to use.

It is very easy to set up multiple coding tests and is easy to send out the invites from within the product.

What do you dislike?

The essentials plan is a very stripped down version. Not much to do with it except sending out coding tests.

I particularly like Coderbyte's pre-defined challenges and how easy it is to create a complementary set of challenges for a candidate technology profile. The structure of code challenges, short answer questions and open-ended questions work really nicely too. What do you like best?

- Screen recording of how candidate is able to make progress on the coding questions.

- Have ability to create custom questions
