**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2022

**What do you like best about CodePen?**

The thing which I liked best about codepen is that you can use it online without installing anything on your system. It helps us too much when we need to run a simple code snippet just to check if it is working properly or not.

**What do you dislike about CodePen?**

Two things which I dislike about codepen, one is Pro (premium) version required to keep work private and use external links properly, and second is many tools but not all are useful

**What problems is CodePen solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem which I solve mostly is running the code snipped of javascript and jQuery to check so that when I integrate the code snippet with the main code then it will work as expected.

CodePen supports all the programming languages that I know, so I never have to use any other online code editor.

**What do you dislike about CodePen?**

Compiling in Java is a bit slow, so even a single line of code takes 10-15 seconds to run, which is slightly disappointing.

**What problems is CodePen solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CodePen helps while taking interviews to test the code written by the interviewees.

  ### 13. Messy

  ### 14. The best IDE ever

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saba K. | Associate Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2021

**What do you like best about CodePen?**

Codepen has always been one of the best IDEs. The fact that it reflects your changes within a fraction of seconds, without you explicitly reloading or saving the code, is just amazing. And since it's open-source sharing and editing your or others' codes is quite an impressive feature. Codepen is just amazing for any developer, it's a boon.

**What do you dislike about CodePen?**

Honestly, I don't dislike anything about codepen. Since it's such a unique IDE. The only thing I feel it lacks is the support of multiple languages or frameworks. If codepen supported almost all coding languages, then it would have been the best IDE of all.

**Recommendations to others considering CodePen:**

Codepen being one of the best IDEs, there is no way any software developer out there haven't use it. If not, I guess now is the time to choose Codepen . It's just an amazing application and you can never resist using it once you start using it. Easily share all your projects with others, and collabora`te effectively.

**What problems is CodePen solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Codepen is pretty helpful and exciting to use. I use it every day to test my codes immediately, without wasting time setting up the environment or opening any local IDEs. The output changes as you type, hence it saves a lot of time, and you can see your code working in real-time. It is also useful when you need to collaborate with others; being open-source is one of the best things. Being a developer, I know how helpful Codepen is. Creating projects, sharing them with others, testing codes in real-time, etc. all these features are what one needs.

  ### 15. Good tool to showcase your ui code snippets to the community

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Khan Nida Khanum A. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2021

**What do you like best about CodePen?**

It is a very good tool for developers, espcially frontend devs to create small code snippets and showcase theri ui code snippets to the codepen community. The ui is simple to use without any configuration. You can even create templates that can have pre exisiting configurations for your projects like templates for react, html, js projects. You can search code snippets with the help of keywords.

**What do you dislike about CodePen?**

The code intellisense and code editor iss not that great when compared to other tool like codesandbox. You have restrictions for free users with the features however most of the time you don't really need paid subscription. Also, they don't support backend languages , that is something to look forward to in future.

**What problems is CodePen solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For small code snippets for plain html, css and js it is a good tool .since codepen has a vast community it is good to network through your code snippets. It is more a social collaboration for the developers where they showcase their ui code snippets

See the changes you make in the code in real-time; get hundreds of pre-built resources to use; Rider is the tool I use along with this, but you cannot get the live output of cope pen in any other competitors.

At was it was a little hard to get started, then it was piece of cake, Autofill is missing features for code pen, and this can beat the competitor like the kind for web development

**What problems is CodePen solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Real-time building web apps and websites, seeing output realtime is the benefit, it saves a lot of time and increases my productivity and performance to skyrocket.

**What do you like best about CodePen?**

CodePen's UI is amazingly intuitive and allows the user to quickly test their code snippets or even much more complex implementations. It allows to easily import any JS library you can find a link for and is quick to update itself while you write to see the results as you code it. Just Great!

While there are certain feature to come and aspects missing or could be potentially improved, there is really nothing to dislike, and I have come across some points in other competitor apps but CodePen is just a job well done.

**Recommendations to others considering CodePen:**

I've been using jsFiddle and other tool simultaneously for many years, as is my usual approach involving a long period of testing and searching to find the tool that ultimately survives the trials and meets my personal criteria in terms of functionality, usability, feature-richness and, general likability.
CodePen survived my harsh trails after many years of competing against other tools for exclusivity in my workflow, and it won with flying colors! I have become an authentic fan of the tool and although it might not be indispensable for my work I still love using it and it certainly eases up the development process; dare I say even it accelerates it.
I can only recommend this tool to any and all web developers and designers out there. It mades my workflow so much easier!

**What problems is CodePen solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am often confronted with CSS and JS problems which I need to validate before implementation on my sites, and need to test. CodePen is perfect for this and allows me to sort out the bugs and issues before going straight to production.

  ### 32. A Webdev IDE in seconds

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sarath k. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2019

**What do you like best about CodePen?**

HTML, CSS and Javascript are an integral part of a full stack developers life and Codepen enables me to do it easily. Here are my top picks for my likes:

Sharing code snippets made easy: Codepen is the quickest way to put together a bunch of HTML, CSS and JS code and share it with anyone in the world.

Multiple CSS preprocessors: SCSS and LESS are two of the most popular code preprocessors and thankfully Codepen lets me do this without any fuss. Someone without SCSS installed in their computer can easily go to codepen.io and get a SCSS preprocessor.

Access to JS console: As one can see in codepen's interface we have access to a javascript interpreter. This comes in handy for running small javascript code and getting outputs of those snippets.

Storing assets: The pro plan in code pen lets me store assets and resources that can be stored securely and that can be accessed from anywhere.

Support for private pens: Codepen gives user's the ability to share the snippets created with anyone in the world in a private manner.

**What do you dislike about CodePen?**

There aren't many drawbacks. The price of the pro plan is a bit too expensive.

**Recommendations to others considering CodePen:**

Live Weave is another free alternative to codepen

**What problems is CodePen solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me share code swiftly with anyone

The biggest disadvantage is that you cannot code with CodePen whenever you want, as it is expensive; it's an online environment, so whenever you want to code, you must have an internet connection. No matter where you look, when it comes to development, you have to cut costs somewhere or another.

**What do you like best about CodePen?**

I like that it's like code sharing. As a beginner, you rarely see how some things interact in your code and it's definitely helpful to build off other people's code. It's also just amazing to see some of the stuff the experts can create as part of a challenge. I've used code samples in some of our email campaigns.

**What do you dislike about CodePen?**

Some of the stuff is more "just for fun" so it's a lot to sort through if you're looking for specific elements you want to work in, in a professional way.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about CodePen?**

I love that it's an open playground where anyone can share their projects. It even allows for React projects and has pre-canned options to pull in libraries like jquery.

**What do you dislike about CodePen?**

CodePen has a lot of potential but it feels squandered by their revenue model. They used to allow for external links to resources but have restricted that and require you to purchase a paid plan. This makes CodePen useful for anything requiring any content whatsoever.

**Recommendations to others considering CodePen:**

Reconsider your business model. I used CodePen way more when you allowed for external assets. It's almost useless now.
