## Codecademy Reviews
  ### 1. Great place for beginners to start!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mia T. | Sales Development Representative, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

Code Academy is a great place to start for beginners looking to gain a basic understanding of coding/programming. I have used this platform to begin learning basics of Python and Java and found the courses to provide a great baseline of information. I have only used the free courses for these two subjects, and it's comparable to similar online coding classes I've used. I have never paid for a course. The forums have been pretty helpful for questions during courses and clarification on subjects.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

It can be a little difficult to really learn from Code Academy, though I am unsure whether that's a reflection of Code Academy or online learning as a whole. It presents basic principles, but I feel that there is a lot missing and a big learning curve that the courses fail to bridge. As someone who has a technical background through my education, I find a lot of the intro level courses are pretty bare so I can't imagine how I would learn if I did not have my previous background. I have never used the bootcamps or paid courses, though what I have seen from the free courses does deter me a bit from wanting to pay!

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Definitely worth a try! Always great to keep up to date!

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using these to learn web development and to keep my personal coding kills in tip top shape. I am not using it expressly in my day to day, but I have used this as a way to keep my skills and stay up to date with latest coding trends and learn new languages.

  ### 2. Learn Programming step by step.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sofia A. | Sofia Reserve, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

Excellent learning platform, I love the teaching methods that it has since while it teaches you can go practice, I adore the learning panel that shows as it segmented very well the sections of reading, writing code and result, it is very didactic and simple , you can also find all kinds of programming language courses and frameworks, I am surprised also its load on the page, this differentiates it very well from other pages of courses, the truth is very interactive.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

The progress depends a lot on the internet connection, if you do not have access to the network you can not do any course, also many times the code writing panel fails because it does not show the result properly and also when you manage to complete the challenge do not correct mark until reloading the page.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Perfect to start and learn to program, has a free version with which you learn a lot, the examples are very clear and fun.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Excellent support for learning, thanks to the platform we can expand to new technologies and methods of use of programming language, besides it is indispensable a support or professional guide of any language base, we had many improvements with the hablidades and skills in the field of innovation of new methods.

  ### 3. Need pest control with all the bugs

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

The concept. That is the only thing that I like about the website. The idea is great. The implementation is horrible and frustrating.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

My letter to codecademy reflecting my views on their service.

First having people actually read your question second people that can actually help.instead of generically pointing you to a forum where other users can do the job of your customer service rep. I have sense stopped using your service and moved to a better site to learn coding in python. Your platform is buggy the lessons are worded horribly and customer service is virtually no existent to issues. Also the moderators in the forums have been snippy at times. I will be going across the web and leaving reviews wherever I can to show my disappointment with your service. People do not need to spend money on something that is broken. I cannot stand it. Do the devs over there even thing about the consequences of what you are doing? Imagine 100 people come to learn how to code. Out of that hundred 30 of them experience bugs in your website and think "coding is way to freaking hard for me" they quit and leave coding behind. Those 30 people could have gone on to do great things while you virtually stopped them in their tracks. They may not even know that it wasn't even them in the first place. I'm willing to bet that at least one of you in your office has had parents that you could never do anything right for. Well you guys are those parents. You leave people feeling inadequate and stupid. Why? Because your code is rushed and incorrect and causes extreme amounts of frustration. It really is ironic that you are teaching code when your code is trash. Is it suppose to be one of those do as your told not as I do kinds of things?

Their website is buggy(at least for the python 3 paid course) so if you take it with the trial know that if an error comes back especially with indentation it may not be you at all. There have been times when I wrote code and it came back as wrong so I copied my code, asked for solution, pasted my code underneath and compared to find that nothing was different. Buyer beware. Now I did learn a good amount of fresh material but I have had some experience in python so I knew I was not wrong on certain things. If I had been newblet I would have just quit after the first couple bugs thinking it was me.

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

Code Academy is an amazing resource for many different learning opportunities. The most amazing part of this is that it is free!! I myself have went through many different software language courses and have truly enjoyed every single one of them. the courses/projects are designed in a way to help any level user to clearly understand the concepts.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

I really like everything about Code Academy and how it implements everything. However, my only concern is that not everything is free. I wish there were more quizzes offered in the free option also, but I do understand the reasoning behind offering the Pro option. Other than that, I really believe this is an amazing opportunity that everyone interested must try.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Use Code Academy to your advantage. There are many opportunities to excel if you use Code Academy. The courses are definitely designed in a way to truly help any user to understand the material.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I love the ability to have access to many learning many opportunities at your fingertips. There are many various courses and many opportunities to excel in different many fields.

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I first used codecademy for a college course in undergrad. It was engaging and provided a great introduction to coding. To my surprise, when I started my job after college, my employer also recommended it in order to get more familiar with web design. I spend a few hours each week completing Java courses. I thought I would never enjoy coding, but codecademy makes it fun!

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

I had trouble viewing some parts of the course while using Internet Explorer. The modules did not load correctly and I was unable to complete the exercises. It constantly logged me out.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Ensure your web browser is compatible with the site.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Developing new skills to make me a more versatile employee.

  ### 6. One of my guide or lesson in coding

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I search for the easy lesson for the jquery and I found out the CodeAcademy has the jquery lessons. I try the course I selected then It makes me more convenient to learn more about the course that I selected.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

as what I've experience I don't like the tips or a cheat code in the tutorial it must be a hint or clue to determine the answer of each topic because I rather go to cheat code and try to see about the difference of my code which is bad to us to improve our logical ability

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

If you are beginner then try this one to learn more about the courses of what you needed to learn for the sake of your career and your future and it gives you a lot of details that makes you easily to under

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm just a Trainee as a Junior Web Developer on that time when I used this software. this software is one of my path to become a Developer in school.

  ### 7. Excellent experience for new beginner coders

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Venture Capital & Private Equity | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I really like the interactive interface that allows you to see your progress in steps. The 'paths' are a great way for students to stay focused on what's important. It can be quite overwhelming to see what you have to learn, but Codecademy sets things up nicely in a non-daunting way.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Sometimes there are bugs that occur such as pages not registering the code properly. Also, alternative methods aren't always considered correct in some subject matters.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Make sure you are self-motivated to get into this setting. Also, the pro account if well worth the payment if you are willing to put the time and effort in.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to learn a new coding language and learn new skills that can propel my career forward. It has opened up new career opportunities in the software development space.

  ### 8. Great introductory product for non coders interested in learning how to code.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eli P. | Instructor and Research Specialist, Staffing and Recruiting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

Code Academy is an excellent tool for visual learners who wanted to see what their code is doing real time. It gives people a chance to dabble in basic coding without the risk of breaking anything important.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

If you're looking to upgrade to pro, depending on your needs it can be a little pricey.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Use this product instead of blindly trying to learn by yourself. This gives you the right guidance to know what you're doing without being overwhelmed with the plethora of possibilities coding can provide. When you learn to swim, you don't jump start by jumping into the deep end, instead you go to the shallow end and learn how to tread water. Code Academy gives you the chance to tread water in the world of coding instead of forcing you to jump right in without a life jacket.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've used basic code to visually change my company's website without the expensive cost of hiring a company to build or tweak the site. It's also a valuable tool to help introduce younger learners who are interested in coding, but don't necessarily where to start.

  ### 9. Super easy to use platform, use at your own pace!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bailey H. | Marketing Manager, Demand Gen, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I love that you can select which path best fits your needs and wants to get the best knowledge and skills from the course. You're able to narrow down the information to what best suits you, and there are a lot of different learning paths for learning coding or web dev. Super transparent, easy to navigate platform, and lots of different resources to assist you.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

I dislike the variety of courses, and I think there is an opportunity to definitely open the platform to expand with courses on growing and coding your own online business, or social media platforms, etc. There are so many different roads that could be expanded upon, and so many interactive ways to learn coding depending on what you're looking for and why you need to learn to code.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

It's a great way to begin coding at your own pace and to have a good understanding of the basics or how you and this is definitely one of the more interactive and fun platforms to learn on!

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I like using Code Academy for learning basics of coding and better understanding HTML/CSS for my own personal use, and for my job. As a professional in the media industry, it's important to understand all aspects of the industry and basics, down to the lowest level such as coding and how pages are set up on the website and how I can alter the code to better assist my job.

  ### 10. The simple fact that code academy really has the user thinking about the question.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aminata D. | Data Scientist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I love that there are several different programming languages to learn from and you can always reference back to the older exercises to see how you define certain variables.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Sometimes when you move on to the more advanced programming classes it would be helpful to have more hints.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

None what so ever I think code academy is getting better every year and has really useful tips on how to improve your knowledge by using their products.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None at the moment,

  ### 11. Solid performer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

What I like best about Codecademy is the amount of education they offer for their free services. Codecademy offers free education on just about every topic they have. You have the option to pay for additional education, but their free version can certainly guide you towards your goals. They offer a wonderful step by step process on each topic, for me, that would be Javascript and Python.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

My dislike regarding Codecademy would be how some of the information taught in the topics and how it resonates with me compared to Khan Academy. For instance, I learned SQL in Khan Academy, and they made it so easy to understand. I then went through the Codecademy SQL tutorial, and I had a hard time following it. Luckily, I already had a background it in, but still, it was hard to follow. The simplicity was lost in the SQL tutorial for Codecademy.
I'd also like to comment on the lack of video tutorials. Maybe there are video's in the paid version vs the free one, and it's not a huge dislike, but rather something that I'd like to see.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Excellent program to learn the basics and advanced level of programming. I'd recommend taking notes on each topic b/c they will come up in real word situations.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Codecademy is certainly educating me, and helping me with my computer programming education in order for me to perform at my job. I realized that information that has been taught to me is popping up in real world applications.

  ### 12. Perfect for anyone looking to hone their programming skillset!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim P. | Systems Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I love that I can follow along on interactive coding exercises for all types of programming languages at my own pace, and that it's free!

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

On a couple of occasions, the interactive exercises have glitched and not accepted my answer, even though it was correct. Unfortunately sometimes they need to match the "answer" 100%, even if the code is still technically correct (example: adding an additional line break or commenting out something).

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

If you're looking to learn a new language, or just need to brush up on your programming knowledge, I highly recommend giving Code Academy a try!

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm learning to code in JavaScript and other various languages (Python, C++, and SQL), which is providing much needed knowledge and expertise to myself and offering additional tools for my employer.

  ### 13. Useful for beginners to a degree

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Randi J. | Archival Assistant II, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I like how all the courses have lessons and hands-on learning exercises so that you can use the knowledge you just learned. Personally, it helps me to be able to put the things I learn to practice and that's really beneficial.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

I don't feel that the courses are intuitive at times which can cause me to spend more time than necessary to finish up a course lesson. It's usually in the hands-on instructional part of the course where I feel I spend more time re-reading the lesson trying to figure out what I did wrong to only ask the program to give me the answer finally so I can figure it out on my own.Though it doesn't occur often, it can be a very frustrating experience for someone that has no background on the course's topic.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

If you are coming from a background with zero experience in coding, then these programs could be beneficial to create an foundation to things such as HTML, CSS, or programming languages. However, if you already have a background for these things or looking to becoming an expert, I would suggest to find something else to continue your learning.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The courses that this site provides is helping with my knowledge gaps these areas as having knowledge and ability to use Python, Ruby, JavaScript, and the Command Line would assist me in some the digital aspects of my position.

  ### 14. Good starting point for learning to code!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shane P. | Instructional Technology Facilitator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

Let's be clear, you will not be the world's best from this. But it's a good starting point! It's user-friendly for beginners, you have access to lots of different languages, it has a nice set-up (divided screen with theory, practice area, and real life results), the lessons are structured and paced well for beginners, no experience is necessary for starting, and there is a lot you can learn for free.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

No real dislikes so far. I'm still new. I suppose it sort of starts slow and the jumps deeper quite fast or at least that's how I felt. I would also be interested to see reviews from folks who have used this for one or more years.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Learning basic skills

  ### 15. The best platform to learn programming and check your progress straight away

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Irina D. | Gerente de marketing y operaciones, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

Codecademy explains so well the principles of programming that even a beginner will understand without any problem. For me the best thing is that the screen is devided into three parts: 1. theory that your need to read 2. in the middle of the screen there is a part where you do coding 3. on the left from coding part you see the final result of your coding, let´s say - what would appear on the screen if you write a certain code. The platform checks in real time wether you did the programming exercise well or not. They also provide hints to exercises and a correct solution in case you are stuck. All the lessons are divided into small steps, which is handy for learning. And these all in a free subscription option. Might you want more lessons and exercises - PRO is also very affordable, 19,99 dollars per month, it is worth it

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

There´s nothing I did not like about Codecademy

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

To try it, it´s awesome.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using the platform as a support in learning programming languages and developing apps.

  ### 16. Makes Coding Seem Less Complicated

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christy S. | Adjunct Professor, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I like the interface and how easy it is to take a class. I started Code academy in a graduate course, and it was the fist time that HTML really made sense to me.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

To be honest, I don't have any complaints. I guess sometimes there are almost too many choices of new classes which can be overwhelming.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Make sure to try it out. If you are interested enroll in one of the free classes.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Learning basic coding.

  ### 17. Code Academy makes learning coding basics easy and fun.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I love the interactive nature of their lessons. I went through courses as a refresher before beginning a job as a front end developer.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

There's not much to dislike, but one thing is that their courses and lessons are not very customizable, meaning you are only working on pre-designed projects. It would also be nice to offer advanced courses that are paid where you work with an instructor on projects of your own.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

It's free to start! I would just try it and decide for yourself.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Learning the basics of certain languages and getting a refresher on ones I am already familiar with. I've found that Code Academy is the best in the field.

  ### 18. Code Academy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

It is a really nice interactive resource to learn about a lot of coding and programming stuff. It starts from a very basic level and goes up to developing apps in a slow step by step process. They have a vast variety of courses from all types of programming languages to frameworks and command line basics.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

The dislike factor is not really much, its just that when I was learning using codeacademy as a student I used to feel that some of the pro features were needed but not affordable for me at that time. I wish there was an existing student discount for the same, which would have promoted it even more.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

It is a really good resource to learn new skills from beginner to advanced.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have personally learned a couple of new things, thanks to codeacademy's interactive courses which helps in learning in a very new and unique way.

  ### 19. Helped me get into coding with no experience!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

The Code Academy was something I came across as I was looking to understand coding from a basic level. This course provides all the necessary instructions to get you up and running and understanding code from the backend of things. It's very simple to use and walks you through all the steps at your own pace which is great.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Coding is hard! It takes practice practice practice but it's paid off. Working with the Code Academy has been frustrating only in the fact that coding is difficult. If you think that this will be a simple way to learn coding it absolutely is but don't expect results overnight. This is something that can greatly help you get on the right path to becoming an expert coder!

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

If you are in the market to start coding this is the product for you! It's so simple to use and user friendly. I've always had this idea that coding is going to be such a grueling process. At times it can be very repetitive but when you see the final results it's so rewarding to see that all your hard work is paying off.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been able to help build my own website and do all my own coding! This has been an incredible experience to have the ability now to edit and make adjustments in whatever way I feel is necessary. Rather than have to pay out for coding externally I'm able to manage everything on my own. If you're wondering how to improve on design and have a website.

  ### 20. great product to improve technical skills

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I really like how easy it is for true beginners to jump right into this. It is a fun segue into the technical world of coding. it's fun to use, but also gets progressively challenging as you progress through the levels.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

sometimes the challenge level jumps too quickly... so in other words i would prefer to see incremental steps, but sometimes the instructions skip steps.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the business problems we are solving is the gap in knowledge between our programmers and folks on the product team who lack those skills. benefits we have realized are primarily communication issues, which is no small feat!

  ### 21. Educational

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I liked the variety that was available for learning and all the tools that were provided. A lot of the tasks were easy to following and I felt like I could implement the skills I learned.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Nothing much to dislike except that there was a paying option for premium other than that there was not really anything I did not like in my short period of using it

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

I think adding more courses would be good, as it would expand on the wide range of aspects that computer science has and it will provide more paths to follow or trial on

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I feel that this is a good learning program to either get back into the basics or learn other aspects of the basics for different varieties of computer science

  ### 22. Good but not for the mindset

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joan O. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

It teaches you the basics of a number of programming languages, without any real instruction on how you’d apply them to real-life problems.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

One of my biggest frustrations with Codecademy’s approach to teaching is that it feels so incredibly transien.
The introductory JavaScript course doesn’t teach you how to embed a script in a webpage to add interactivity to otherwise flat, static HTML. The Java course doesn’t teach you how to compile your code in order to run it.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Codecademy Isn’t That Bad
There’s a lot to like about Codecademy. They’ve introduced thousands to the fundamentals of computer science. But there’s a lot of room for improvement, too.
Codecademy essentially shields you from the sticky, complicated part of programming. There’s no way around this, other than by being disciplined, and doing your own research. If you don’t know what you should be looking at, consider asking more established developers for guidance.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We give free courses for our employees, our benefits is that the young ones can improve in terms of programming language.

  ### 23. Simple and educational

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

Learn as you go. Everyone needs to start somewhere and this gives you the opportunity.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

There could be more courses. I’d also like easier access on mobile.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I need to brush up on my JavaScript, this is a great place to turn.

  ### 24. Tech for everyone

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

The lessons make it easy for a beginner to pick up code quickly- the instructions are clear.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Sometimes the pacing moved a bit fast for me

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Back end code to manually change and design my websites

  ### 26. Great Introduction for aspiring Front-end/Back-end Developers

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taylor P. | Digital Marketing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

The courses are curated for ease of use and explaining the fundamental basics for anyone new to the field. Just about any individual could complete their courses with little to no prior experience.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

There is word that my proposed "dislike" about the company has been resolved or changed. But from my experience, I did not believe the course lessons were properly organized in regards to the order in which they were taught. I found the JavaScript course to have many lessons that were in quite a peculiar order and not conducive in building your knowledge on certain subjects that would later be revisited. Although I found this to be an issue when I initially signed up with Codecademy, I re-visited the course after they had updated it a year later and the course was written in a very constructive and fluid manner.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

If you are looking to dive into learning a coding language but do not know where to start, then Codecademy is a wonderful platform to get your feet wet at a very reasonable monthly price.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Better communication & fluid workflow between colleagues in IT. I've found it quite beneficial teaching myself the fundamentals of many coding languages so that Designers, developers, and programmers can one day work in perfect harmony.

  ### 27. Code Academy Helped Me Learn Quickly

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

Code Academy helped me learn how to code quickly and efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Some of the courses can be pretty long, but that's understandable when you are covering more complex topics.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The clear benefit here is being able to analyze and fix issues with code myself, rather than having to rely solely on other developers.

  ### 28. Cut to the Chase Way to learn code

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle P. | Email Marketing Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

Example-oritented way of teaching new computer languages. If you’re the type that likes supplemental learning, you might be out of luck

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

No text based reading resources. If you’re the type that likes supplemental learning, you might be out of luck

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Learning the Codecademy way is similar to learning a spoken language through a program like Rosetta Stone for example - it teaches concepts through immediate contextual examples as opposed to linear concepts in a textbook. Still, it should be used as a good foundational starting point for learning a programming language, supplemented with real life experience, rather than expecting it to make you become an expert.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our company requires knowledge of certain programming languages to resolve development issues. Codecademy is the best way we know to get up and running fast.

  ### 29. Great MOOC platform!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I love everything! Especially the approach for students!
Thanks a lot!

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

We need to pay to get a certificate! Not everyone could do that

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You do not need to go out from home to get skills

  ### 30. A great free or paid option to pick up some new software engineering skills

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jess U. | Software Engineer, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

The best thing about Codecademy is that I can do use it from any device that has a web browser. That's an incredibly powerful tool to be able to pick up where I left off my self-learning from any device. I wanted to do some self study and learn some skills in back end web development, and Codecademy gave me a clear plan forward to learn what I wanted, without even asking a dime from me, unless I wanted additional resources to help me in my learning.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

I would like to see them expand and offer some more content. What you get from paid content seems to be a little lacking. I think they have all the tools in place to be the go-to site for learning software development in a fun and easy way, they just need to expand their catalogue to go more in depth.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

If you want a good resource for picking up additional languages with a huge support network (forums where you can ask questions about specific problems, etc.), then Codecademy is a great starting point. It's also a great way to make a roadmap or plan of how you're going to go about learning new languages and their interactive problems to solve are great for anybody at any level of programming proficiency.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Picking up additional software engineering skills is always useful, and in turn this has allowed me to work on some projects outside of my normal development team. It's always important to keep growing your toolbox.

  ### 31. Codecademy is good, but with caveats

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pedro P. | Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 17, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

Honestly, the best thing about Codecademy is its interface. Having such a powerful learning tool baked into a web browser that can be accessed anywhere at any time is truly remarkable. I also love how many different languages are offered. I started using it to learn HTML/CSS, as I haven't dealt with that much due to my primary focus being on using C++/C# for Windows application development for work.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Codecademy seems to start off at a slow pace, and then quickly jumps ahead. It just feels like there are missing steps, which can be very detrimental to a beginner. Notably, this isn't an all in one tool to teach yourself programming. You're going to need many additional resources to become a well rounded software engineer in your language of choice.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Codecademy is definitely a good start, but I would probably recommend FreeCodeCamp over it if your primary interest is learning HTML/CSS/Javascript. Codecademy has the big important pieces there but lacks the finer details that you will need to fully understand the code you're writing. The paid options are inexpensive as well and offer you quite a bit more options for different languages you can learn.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My job is always evolving, so I took initiative to try to learn other languages and skills. Codecademy gave me a good starting point of what to study and learn, which is incredibly useful. Having a roadmap to follow Is definitely necessary in software engineering.

  ### 32. Codeacademy is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to learn coding basics.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tyler S. | SEO Fulfillment Supervisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

The best feature about Codeacademy is that the entry-level courses are free. I frequently refer people to this site who think they might be interested in coding. The site does a great job of explaining things thoroughly. Most importantly, the courses include lots of required interaction and participation.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

I have only tried several of the courses, but I wish that there were more courses available for all types of code. I also wish that the courses included Excel and Sequel since those skills are in such high demand.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Go give it a try. You'll find out pretty quick if the teaching style works for you. Also, the entry-level courses are free of cost so it's a great trial opportunity. I have tried it several different times and frequently refer it to others.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I love being able to send my employees to Codeacademy for simple training to expand their job knowledge. HTML, in particular, has been a great skill to learn and practice on the site.

  ### 33. It's finally clicked!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy B. | Senior Instructional Designer, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I had a hard time as a beginner trying to learn code until I found Codeacademy. Codeacademy gives short, digestible lessons with hands-on activities you can complete right in the browser. This hands-on work is what made the content really stick for me. They also explain every part of the lesson—every term, function, etc.—so it's as stump-free as possible.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Nothing so far! I do wish I could do everything for free, but Codeacademy is so valuable and the cost for the pro features is relatively low, so the pricing is pretty generous already.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Professional development for me and my team. We aren't a team that's really required to know or work with code besides basic HTML, but we did have some old CSS that hadn't been updated in the five years since the person who created it left. I was able to use Codeacademy and freeCodeCamp to learn enough HTML and CSS (among other skills/languages) to update that old CSS. Felt pretty good.

  ### 34. Great Resource for Developing Basic Coding Skills

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adrienne O. | Senior Manager Customer Success - Flow , Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

Code Academy has great, interactive tutorials. It provides the user with a great understanding of the syntax. I also like that it is accessible to individuals of all backgrounds.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

The resource teaches you the basics of many programming languages, however, there is not a focus on how to apply this to a real problem a programmer might run into. The other thing I have run into is that you don't necessarily revisit topics. I would love for the theory of programming to be more of a focus. I do realize though that a different forum is likely better for this additional learning.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Great first step if you only care about learning the syntax.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Codeacademy was a great resource to learn the basics of code. As a nontechnical person who was working with students learning code, I was able to better understand the difficulties my students faced.

  ### 35. Beginner to fluent

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taylor M. | Billing, Collections, and Revenue Assurance Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

Great way to learn the basics of coding and the opportunity to really dive down deep into topics. Easy way to pick up on new careers.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

It can be too easy at times and as if they are holding your hand.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Great way to learn the basics and if you want to go further, A good way to sign up for a bootcamp.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

learning how to code

  ### 36. Great Learning Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sally L. | Digital Engagement Coordinator, Higher Education, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I really liked how much each lesson was broken down. Being unfamiliar with HTML and CSS, I was concerned that I might have difficulty just using the software to teach me. Codecademy went step-by-step in a way that was easy to understand, even for someone unfamiliar with coding.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Once the steps got more advanced, I had a bit more trouble and it was hard to figure out what I was doing wrong, but I was able to figure it out eventually. Having the software explain it to you a different way or provide additional examples might have been helpful.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

If you're looking for a solution to learn basic HTML and CSS, this is a perfect tool to do that. If you have coding experience, then the other languages could be learned as well once you have a well established foundation.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Although we have an email platform with an editor that makes it possible to write HTML emails without knowing how to code, knowing HTML has allowed me to solve problems without using the editor, or when it's not obvious where the formatting issues are. This has greatly improved my workflow.

  ### 37. You help; We pass

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Naasseh A. | Quantity Surveyor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

It gives us a very good theoretical and practical knowledge, specially practically it gives more fluency. An amazing one for beginners to start with. Once you started you may not be able to stop because it gives a feeling like playing a game. It has several levels from easy to hard. so it helps you to understand the relationship between each coding. Everything is explained beautifully.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Most of the lesson lack context which is a drawback and sometimes limit the practical knowledge as well. Whatever there is nicely presented, But i feel more context can be added for the perfect knowledge. Also there is no feature to recall the past.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

NO charge, learn as much as you want, Best ever. Please try

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to learn about HTML. Have ideas to carry on further. It makes you work so eagerly. So you never get bored. Now i have an immense knowledge in web developing.

  ### 38. No teacher needed

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Basama J. | Radiographer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

An excellent website which makes me feel like I never need a teacher, The best one for beginners. Each course here has a series of units and lessons, each with an explanation and give chance to try it out yourself. if you go wrong it will indicate where it. this gives a very good practice, It has levels which looks like a game, so from the easy to hardest it takes us and never let us to be bored.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Sometimes we forget what we practiced, So it has to be written down somewhere. I prefer a feature where I can save whatever had been done.So I can recall it whenever forgotten. Also it teaches the syntax of a programming language, but it does not teach how to apply it in many parts.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Best application ever I used for education purpose. You will realize sometimes you will never need a teacher.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used it to study python programming. It got the best out of me and made me learn so enthusiastically. As an undergraduate it helped me understand what exactly programming language is.

  ### 39. great learning experience

**Reviewed by:** Victor B. | Admissions Advisor, Education Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I enjoy working with code academy because as a beginner, it is really easy to use and there are plenty of resources to help understand the system. Learning how to code can be frustrating but the ease of use within code academy provides the user the support needed to work through the content.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Sometimes it is hard to move through if you are stuck on a task. I had a problem while trying to learn python and I could not move forward.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

I highly recommend using code academy. I recommend to students and friends

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am familiarizing myself with the world of data and coding. It is extremely beneficial as I speak about it every day with the student I advise.

  ### 40. Best way to learn to code free online

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jennifer R. | Private Tutor, Primary/Secondary Education, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

The step-by-step way codeacademy teaches you to code. With every new step you practice coding, and become a little better at it. There are also community forums to help you engage other users. I love that you are enabled to teach yourself a valuable skill for free.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

While it is interactive, it is monotonous. For a $199 fee you can learn how to code faster. Sometimes, it is hard to interpret their directions. I wish there was a "show answer" button, so you could see what you are doing wrong when you don't understand something.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It teaches you a valuable skill that you can add to your resume. By learning how to code, you are enabled to work for yourself as a freelance web-designer.

  ### 41. Simplest learning ever

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2018

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

You do not need to set up the environment. You can just go ahead and start coding. You do not need to listen to lectures or something. Just do excercises and learn

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

There should be some way to teach you to setup the environment on your computer later. Like when I am done with a course, I have to go to other sites to find how to install something on my computer.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to learn new skills. Its really easy to start with. The excercises are some pratically thought out examples.

  ### 42. Great website, needs more courses

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Coordinator, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

If someone visits this website then he will definitely become great at web and mobile development. Also, there are basic courses like HTML, CSS, command line and git. Great UI and animations as well. The code editor is also awesome.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Community forum can be made better, I personally prefer something like stack overflow. More courses are needed. Especially, a wider domain of courses are needed for machine learning, AL, NLP, data structures, and algorithms.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

I would love to recommend it to my friends and my students. Also, I will also be sharing this review on my LinkedIn page.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I learned a great deal about web development on this website. I personally think that this is the best website for learning web and mobile development. After learning web development, I made a personal webpage and a paid website.

  ### 43. Codeacademy Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I had a difficult time in learning basic programming courses but Codeacademy gives short, digestible lessons with hands-on activities you can complete right in the browser. This hands-on work is what made the content really stick for me. Also, as they have an online editor I was able to use it on my Chromebook which really helped me. Now I use this to help my students in grasping and understanding basic CSE classes and also practice questions. They have a wide range of questions which helps the students in understanding the chapters and build their knowledge in various subjects.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

It can get expensive for students which might become the reason why they won't opt for it at the first place. Also, as it is shadowed by Coursera so some people may opt out of it. Also, the courses are made by individuals rather than from Universities which might make students incline for it less.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

One of the best and free websites for online learning out there. Might also consider using coursera.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it at my mentor job to help a class of 100-15-0 students to learn to code and solve problems in different programming languages.

  ### 44. Great place to start learning how to code

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joanna D. | Kustosz, Libraries, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I've just started two of their web developer courses and they are great. All topicks are clearly explained and they are in logical order. Web interface is superb: clear, intuitive and realy good looking. Thats how all web courses should looks like. You can practice in the time you chose and with your own speed. All of that for free (in basic version) but if you want to get more quizzes and projects you can go for PRO version - it cost $19,99 a month (16,99 for annual subscription). You can cancel within 14 days and get a full refund so your not deciding blindly.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Lack of good mobile app or mobile web version of the web page and lack of ability to learn or download courses content for offline learning.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Check it out, you can learn a lot for less money (or even for free) than you can think.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Changing my work profile by learning how to code.

  ### 45. I Really Love it - Learning how to code at my speed and with interactivity

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

The pacing is great, and the hints for each project are helpful without giving you the answer outright. Most of the projects are simple and teach the basics of the subject at hand very well.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

My lack of motivation to return to finish things, I wish there might be some sort of reminder or gimmick to make me remember to come back before I forget everything I've learned.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Just do it - you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. It's very simple to grasp the interface and to pick up new concepts as you learn quickly. But you can always go back and review/redo everything. Plus you have code samples to use in the real world as you create and learn.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping on top of learning new code and techniques, staying current and learning how to create new code and modify existing code on my websites.

  ### 46. Best learning website for begginers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** rutva s. | Senior Software Engineer, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

It is very easy to learn from codecademy. Very well structured courses and easy to go through courses. It has the best method to teach. Web development courses are really very good. All other course are also cover all basic concepts

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

It does not teach deep concepts from the topic only basic things are taught. Those who already know basic things about the subject, codecademy is not suitable for them. Some courses are expensive

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

It is definitely good for those who wants to learn new subjects

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For our projects we are learning new subjects from codecademy. It is very easy to learn here.

  ### 47. Best website for learning

It is very good site for learning new concepts. Quizzes are good and reasonable. Course content covers all basic concepts of the subject. Teaching method is really good. Very much reliable site for learning

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

Subjects which are new and trending subjects are not available more. Depth study of subject should be provided. Notes are not available.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Codecademy is useful for those who wants to learn new concepts

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use codecademy for learning new concepts for our projects. It is very easy to learn from here.

  ### 48. Nice but too simply

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shaorong Y. | Teaching Assistant, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

It is very easy to get started. The course design is pretty step by step and easy to follow. I think it is very helpful for one who wants to take a first stab at some new language.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

The exercise is toooooo easy.... And mostly one just need to copy and paste the example code and change a few names. Also the course are very basic. I guess that's what the website is designed for.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prepare myself for learning new languages. I do some crowdsourcing with AWS and wanted to learn JS/CSS so that I don't rely on revising other people's code. And I also used it to learn SQL because I'm interested in Data Science jobs.

  ### 49. Great start to learn coding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I love the fact that it's interactive. It starts with the basics and guides you through and tests you along the way. I am really enjoying it.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

I find that the text is quite dry. I feel like they could add some humour into the descriptions to make it a bit more engaging.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

You can learn for free on the website, which is great to start learning.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I am having issues with a webpage or an email I can go into the coding and tidy it up, which has helped me solve the basic problems I've come across without having to ask for help.

  ### 50. Learn to code with Code Academy

**What do you like best about Codecademy?**

I am an avid user of Khan Academy and I have found that Code Academy is similar to Khan. I really like the self-paced instruction and the step-by-step progression in learning how to code.

**What do you dislike about Codecademy?**

With my limited knowledge of how to code I sometimes find it frustrating and time-consuming to remember all the steps to engage productivity and efficiency with the program.

**Recommendations to others considering Codecademy:**

Using the program takes time and patience.

**What problems is Codecademy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am currently transitioning into a tech-support role for my company and I am using Code Academy to expand my knowledge of different computer programming platforms.
