They have good coverage among the main accounting systems, and their unified API makes it easy to reuse work between integrations. Their team has always been quite prompt in their responses and support. **What do you dislike about Codat?** It's not possible to have 100% uniformity between supported systems, even with the unified API. Codat has improved their documentation to highlight differences between systems, but we have run into a few cases where we were not aware of a platform specific requirement and ran into problems during implementation. The Codat team was quick to point those out after we reached out though, but it did slow us down a bit. **What problems is Codat solving and how is that benefiting you?** Allowing us to build accounting integrations that we can offer to our customers in a simpler, faster way than if we built direct integrations ourselves to all the platforms we want to integrate with. ### 2. In the years we have integrated to their accounting API, we have not experienced any issues that have critically impacted our business or. customer base. The Account management team is always available to assist at a moments notice and support is always timeous and effective. **What do you dislike about Codat?** Codat provides 12 weeks notification to all clients when releasing updates or amendments to their API package. As this integration is a critical element of our systems and algorithms, we find that although this timeframe may be acceptable to most customers, it is usually not enough time for us to schedule the required changes to our packages to accomodate these amendments. It would be great to have a longer "heads-up" period, so we do not have to request delays to these scheduled updates constantly. **Recommendations to others considering Codat:** I would recommend Codat to any company wishing to integrate with a stable and reliable provider. They are constantly updating their product to incorporate more financial accounting packages in use in our industry, so you are always up to date with the "latest & greatest." They offer a very high level of support and are always happy to answer any question or address your issues quickly and satisfactorily. **What problems is Codat solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Codat as a third-party system to integrate our client's accounting systems into our package, so we don’t have to build numerous API connections into the multitude of different accounting systems used across our customer base. The automated feed to SME accounting systems has and will continue to reduce the time to funding and ensure that financiers have good quality data to assess risk and provide tailored financing options. Clear and well thoughts APIs are easy to build, but supporting your client in using them is much harder, they tick both boxes. **What do you dislike about Codat?** Some design choices could have been communicated a bit better, very minor. The Codat API allows gives the user a lot of flexibility and control. For example the user of the Codat API can change the URLs for webhooks, the sync frequency and the priority of datasets to be synced. How to authenticate the user is also configurable, using the Codat front end (the link site) or by designing your own. **What do you dislike about Codat?** As part of the onboarding process each of the cloud accounting packages need to be set up, this is quite time consuming. **What problems is Codat solving and how is that benefiting you?** Using the Codat API we have been able to build a product to help lenders provide loan decisions to small businesses in hours, not days. Across the last 10 months, myself and my team have been using Codat’s APIs as part of an AI & Machine learning project to help small businesses. They’ve allowed us to work across a multitude of accountancy providers without having to worry about the discrepancies in the data and, most importantly, they’ve been on hand to answer all of the questions we’ve had to ensure that we’re getting the most out of their product. They welcomed us during face to face meetings and gave us more than a reasonable amount of their time, to answer questions and get recommendations. We worked with one of their competitors for a few months before using Codat and the improvement in quality of service we experienced, in terms of the APIs and data outputs, after switching was remarkable. **What do you dislike about Codat?** It’s hard to find something that I dislike. Initially, the UAT environment we were set up with was a little slow however this is something that was worked out with the Codat team! **Recommendations to others considering Codat:** Affordable product compared to competitors, portal setup makes it possible to start pulling data and testing the product within minutes. **What problems is Codat solving and how is that benefiting you?** As mentioned, we’re using Artificial intelligence, using Codat’s data outputs as a base, to help businesses better manage their cashflow and make it easier to optimise data. Codat’s API has ensured that we can build scalable processes across multiple users and accountancy platforms. We’ve also used the data to discover more about how small businesses operate which has allowed us to create a feedback loop to the product team we’re developing the application with, so they can use data to inform decisions and try and build the best possible application for their users.
