What do you like best about CoCounsel Legal?

Casetext searches is like using common sense. It is easy to navigate, and using the most simple terms used in the search bar can get you on the right track very quickly. I always get a lot of hits, and really like that at the right hand side of case you are reading you can get other instances where what you are reading has been used in other cases. What do you dislike about CoCounsel Legal?

After reading a case in the list of hits, when I go back to the "results", it does not take me directly to the next case in the list, it usually takes me to the very beginning again, and I have to scroll around and find the case that I had just visited.

The other thing, is that lack of ability to download the cases in MS Word (.docx). You can only download pdf files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering CoCounsel Legal:

At least check out the trial. I found it very useful, and will stay a subscriber here, as long as I can afford it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is CoCounsel Legal solving and how is that benefiting you?

When I am not finding what I want with WestLaw, I can find it in Casetext. I am not stuck working on any particular portion of the law, we work in numerous issues of the law, so I am not always searching for the same kinds of cases. WestLaw at times, causes you to search much longer than you should really need to. I usually use Casetext and WestLaw together. If the prices get too high using either one, I will have to reconfigure. As a Freelance legal Assistant, I cannot afford a lot, I don't have a law office paying my subscription, it is just me. But for the time being, I am very happy this way. I have used google scholar in the past, before Casetext, and I really did not like to use google scholar all that much. Honestly, not much. Mousing over things and popping up new information can be mildly distracting, but the information that comes up is often quite useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is CoCounsel Legal solving and how is that benefiting you?

I do legal research for law enforcement education. I'm always looking for new cases that inform how officers actions "play out" in court -- was that search legal?, is this behavior actionable?, that sort of thing. Two favorite features: 1) the ease of discovering how cases interact with each other -- which cases cite which decisions and such; 2) the fact that ALL cases come with the subscription, whereas previous product constantly required additional purchases. What do you like best about CoCounsel Legal?

It is a great resource for all 50 states and the federal Appellate and Supreme Court. Using CARA makes quick work of a memorandum or brief that I write or an opposing party's memorandum and or brief. In addition, it is accessible from any location as long as I have access to the internet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It does not have access to forms and I would really like to have access to same. I don't ;like the interface for the jurisdictions and not being able to set a default jurisdiction but they are working on it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about CoCounsel Legal?

It's quick and it's easy to use. They are constantly adding new features, providing free training, and I've yet to find anything to complain about. Oh, and you cannot beat the price. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The only downside I see is not being able to print CARA AI results easily, but I'm sure I'm alone on this. Although we live in a digital world, I still like paper copies. Other than that, I have no complaints. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Subscribe to the channel on YouTube. You will find plenty of video tutorials. Don't forget to signup for their free live training as well. Also, don't be afraid of change. I often hear people say, "Well, that's the way we've always done it." My response is simple, "Great! You've identified your problem, now let's fix it." Just because you were raised on Lexis or Westlaw, doesn't mean you need to stick with them. The least you should do is try it out and prove me wrong. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
