CMIC Financials **Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Megan A. | Controller, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2026 **What do you like best about CMiC Platform?** I use CMIC mostly to generate billings and get financial data. **What do you dislike about CMiC Platform?** CMIC is not a good system for financials. We have to create the financials outside of the system. There should be at a minimum an income statement and balance sheet. It is difficult to find support. You have to go to multiple places before getting what you need. **What problems is CMiC Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** It seems like Nexus will mainly just change the look of the platform. I wish there could be more beneficial upgrades such as improved reporting. ### 2. I also value the invoice approvals feature, which I use frequently because I'm on the internal approval path for a couple of different things. **What do you dislike about CMiC Platform?** The fact that we have to pay separately to unlock APIs for different module is the worst part of CMiC. It took a long time to roll out. **What problems is CMiC Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** CMiC Platform puts finance and operations data in a single location. ### 4. There are a lot of functions that could be coded that would make the end user experience better. **What problems is CMiC Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** None at this time. ### 5. The layout is intuitive and it's relatively customizable. Downloading and uploading files is easy, with multiple ways to access files. **What do you dislike about CMiC Platform?** The system goes down often. It seems to happen more in the afternoons, but it's common to have accessibility issues multiple times a week for a few hours at a time. We also experience difficulty uploading large files to the platform. **What problems is CMiC Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using CMiC for construction document management. It's a place for owner/architect/contractor to collaborate together and hold each other accountable. It's helpful to have history tracking to see who has performed what action and when. ### 6. Very customizable but cumbersome platform **Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 30, 2021 **What do you like best about CMiC Platform?** Activity logs make it very easy to drill down data by whatever filter is available in the log- such as reference date, post date, reference codes, descriptions, etc. **What do you dislike about CMiC Platform?** The back end set-ups are very involved and you need extensive knowledge or support from CMIC to set these properly to retain proper controls without affecting the quality of data. The are a lot of bugs still in the program which support is helpful but sometimes slow if the issue needs escalation. **Recommendations to others considering CMiC Platform:** Work together with CMiC while setting up the site to best suit your needs. Reach out to other similar industries that use CMiC to see what tools they use and how they set up and utilized. Process payroll with a third party unless you have resources committed to maintenance and upkeep. **What problems is CMiC Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** Construction project management, budget to actual, forecasting total costs in the cost to complete xProjects. xProjects is a very powerful tool to get real-time data ### 7. It is great that everything is linked from meeting minutes to subcontracts. I also like that you can jump between multiple jobs at once. **What do you dislike about CMiC Platform?** I dislike how the software is not "smart" in the fact that if a firm is entered even slightly different by someone, then a new firm in CMIC is created. You can end up with 40 of the same architect! **What problems is CMiC Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** When I use CMIC, it is for project management needs. I use it for meeting minutes, RFI logs and submittal logs, as well as managing subcontracts on multiple projects at one time. It is not the most user intuitive software, and it could definitely be made easier to interface with. However, managing all of these project management needs in one program is a huge benefit I realized. From the alternatives my peers in the industry have used, I would say that CMIC is the most beneficial out there at this time. ### 8. I use it to pay invoices, and it's relatively simple to input data. **What do you dislike about CMiC Platform?** can be cumbersome. it's just clunky to maneuver around. easy and straightforward, you just have several steps to take.. **Recommendations to others considering CMiC Platform:** We have had CMiC here for years with no plans on changing. **What problems is CMiC Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** Paying invoices and time keeping. ### 9. Makes a nice template for sending out RFI, submittals and tracking transmittal. **What do you dislike about CMiC Platform?** You need java for it and it crashes very often on you.
