## About CMD+CTRL Training
CMD+CTRL Training — Application Security Skills Development Software teams are under pressure to build faster, adopt new technologies, rely on third-party components, support cloud and DevOps workflows, and still deliver secure applications. Traditional secure coding training is not enough for the way modern software is designed, built, tested, deployed, and defended. ## CMD+CTRL Training Reviews
  ### 1. Believable UI/UX and Strong Performance with Creative, In-Depth Apps

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ethan S. | Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

The UI/UX felt believable, I could imagine there was a real website out there that looked and behaved like that. Admittedly visually it was a bit dated but realistically most complex websites are.

It performed well, didn't feel like there was any throttling from the servers when trying to break things.

The onboarding experience could've been a little better, was nice, but realistically it was mostly just someone reading 1:1 to a presentation so didn't feel that memorable.

Was a lot more in-depth/creative than I was expecting - the different apps.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

The onboarding wasn't very interesting, it also felt really long. In my mind it was almost an hour?
Maybe it was mentioned and I didn't pick up on it, but I think it should be emphasised more that when you find an exploit sharing your link **does not** give your team more points.
My team figured that out on our own and there were a couple of announcements that were made in the global chat because people didn't realise. Given the length of the onboarding I was just like surprised this wasn’t covered.
Other than that was all good.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Understanding the limitations of modern web apps. Why some things should be gated in the UI, why some things should be gated in the UI and backend, why some things in the DB should be structured the way they are etc.

  ### 2. A Good Blend Instruction and Hands-On Practice

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin B. | Principal Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

The combination of information + hands-on practice works well. Some course sites are all-info but have no practicum to lock in your knowledge. Others let you practice, but are skimpy on the information.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I don't think there are specific downsides to the training. The interface is pretty easy to use, and any knowledge is good knowledge. I haven't run across interfaces that are significantly easier to use. I haven't used their support (which is a good thing for them, since it shows I didn't need it).

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CMD+CTRL provides practical experience with security vulnerabilities which helps both entry-level pen testers learn their trade and engineers learn the consequences of bad design decisions.

  ### 3. Hands-on CTF that makes application security easier to learn

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I participated in a CTF-style CMD+CTRL Training, and it was a very hands-on way to learn about security flaws. It made it easy to test issues in a safe environment and understand them more clearly by actually trying to find vulnerabilities on a live sandbox instance.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

There wasn’t anything I disliked. Since it was CTF-style, the focus was mainly on identifying the flaws. It could be helpful to have a brief explanation afterward of the relevant code and the underlying root cause, although I understand that may be difficult to include during the exercise itself, or it may already be covered in other training scenarios.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps turn application security concepts into practical experience. Instead of only learning about vulnerabilities in theory, we test them in a safe environment and understand how they work in practice. That also makes it easier to recognize similar issues later and explain them clearly to development teams as a security professional.

  ### 4. Realistic Hands-On Security Training, Hints Need Work

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam S. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I like how it's a real website given to you, for you to hack into. It's something real looking, and something provided for us to use. I like the types of vulnerabilities and the site layout, it's easy to navigate through. It teaches us specific skills and vulnerabilities to look out for when we are developing apps for our company. The setup was very easy, it's already setup to use. I loved it, I sign up for it every time I see the optional training come up.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

{"I didn’t like the hints. They were very ambiguous and confusing. I get a hint that just says “SQL injection”. Okay but where? In the login page? Add to cart page? User creation page? Needs to say where. It should be directed to the site and a bit more in depth.","Some people had problems with logging in or setting up their account initially."}

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it for security training through my company, solving various problems websites can have with security and vulnerabilities. It teaches us specific skills and vulnerabilities to look out for when we're developing apps for our company.

  ### 5. Natural Learning Progression with Robust, Beginner-Friendly Interactive Labs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yarno B. | Lead Cyber Security Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I like how the progression from basic concepts to more advanced topics feels natural. Even complex ideas are easy to understand thanks to the structured learning process. The interactive environments are robust, and you really learn by doing. Furthermore, the platform is beginner-friendly, which makes it accessible for anyone who’s new to the subject.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

It offers an excellent selection of courses that cover many aspects of security, ranging from offensive to defensive. The learning materials are strong and well put together, making it a solid option for anyone looking for comprehensive training.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find it very valuable for the practical knowledge and direct experience it offers. The dashboard, tours, and courses provide an excellent overall experience and a smooth learning curve. Thanks to its attractive graphical user interface, we’ve had a great user experience, and it feels like a complete package for application security.

  ### 6. Hands-On, Gamified Secure Coding Training with an Intuitive UI

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Patricio R. | Information Security Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

What I like most is the platform’s practical, hands-on approach to training in secure coding and application security, which creates a gamified experience for our program. The user interface (UI/UX) is intuitive and easy to navigate. I also appreciate how straightforward it is to manage users, track progress, and measure overall team engagement.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

This platform goes beyond theory by providing realistic labs and scenarios that closely mirror real-world vulnerabilities. As a result, it’s highly effective for helping programmers build and strengthen their skills in a practical way.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s been a much more effective way for us to foster a security-centric culture, and we’ve seen the results firsthand. Because it integrates directly into our software development lifecycle workflows, it’s become a valuable tool for reinforcing and driving a strong security culture across the organization.

  ### 7. Highly Effective Training with Customizable Solutions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeanetta H. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I like that CMD+CTRL Training is simple to use and easy to work with. They help by customizing solutions specific to the needs of our users if we provide all our requirements. Their setup was seamless thanks to Adrian and Danielle, who connected us with their technical team, making implementation smooth. The fiber ranges are really, really beneficial, and we love that.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

Some things that we know we would like to have more improvement around, especially more real life experiences as far as more labs. Our users can practice a lot of the things that they've learned even more in-depth than they have now. Time to practice and more real life experience.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use CMD+CTRL Training for learning for application developers and reporting and automation users.

  ### 8. Safe, well-organized offensive labs with hands-on practice and helpful hints

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Defense & Space | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I liked being able to do offensive work and improve my skills in a safe environment alongside other internal employees. I also appreciated that hints were available during the video sessions, and that I could request additional hints during office hours. Overall, it was really well organized!

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

As someone without a financial background, I found the several tabs and their labels confusing. I didn’t know what each one stood for when I tried to break into the shadowbank cyber challenge.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The training helped me solve and understand the different attacks that existed and how to execute it. This is something I want to definitely carry on in my future career. Realized I was someone interested in red team instead of blue team.

  ### 9. Effortless CTF Hosting with Intuitive Features

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I like that CMD+CTRL Training takes over all the technical aspects of hosting a competition, so I don't have to worry about tasks, their deployment, registration, the leaderboard, etc. I appreciate that the tasks are well-prepared for a general technical audience, making them easy to understand and not overly complex. The participator's webpage is intuitive and easy to use, with features like restarting a CTF application and checking the leaderboard just a few clicks away. I also love the automatic scoring system where points are credited as soon as a vulnerability is triggered, eliminating the need to enter any flags manually. From a participant's perspective, the initial setup is really easy.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I would say, some of the possible flags could be improved (or given more information without using a hint). For example, a few participants mentioned, that they were not expecting to have to do destructive actions on CTF application in order to become points

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CMD+CTRL Training handles all technical aspects of CTF competitions, like task deployment and leaderboard management. It provides a user-friendly experience with intuitive navigation and automatic flag scoring, making events hassle-free.

  ### 10. Effective for Cybersecurity Learning, Needs Better Guidance

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I like the fact that CMD+CTRL Training provides a challenging environment, which doesn't give you everything at first. The initial setup was straightforward and easy.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I think there was very little upfront guidance with CMD+CTRL Training, and that made using it really challenging. It feels like it assumes you already have a lot of knowledge. The usage needed to be more enhanced to help understand how to use it better. Also, it could really benefit from more background assessments done before you start using it. The training should then have picked up from the level you were at and then provided hints on what to do next when stuck. This would provide challenge with the frustration which leads to greater actual learning.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CMD+CTRL Training exposes me to areas I'm weak in and need to learn in cybersecurity. A summary of my weaknesses and how/what to do next to correct those weaknesses would have been a great addition.

  ### 11. Hands-On Hacking Exercises That Beat Reading and Videos

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

It's very cool to be able to perform real hacking exercises. Real applications of techniques is way more valuable than any reading or video presentation

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

It's really hard to know where to start with some things. Maybe some more hints being available would help, as those without security backgrounds don't really have as many ideas. Also some of the attacks are pretty basic, like SQL injection has been covered to death and probably shouldn't be an issue anymore.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When running your own applications, security can be an afterthought. Once you see how real attacks are done, it is a lot easier to build security into your own apps.

  ### 12. Keeps Us Current on Vulnerabilities — Rigorous, Time-Intensive Exercises

It helps us stay up to date on the latest vulnerabilities and hacking trends.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

Some of the exercises or components are extremely challenging and complex, which makes time a significant constraint.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It highlights the latest vulnerabilities, cyberattacks, and global trends. This information educates us and helps us adapt, enabling proactive measures to mitigate those risks and threats.

  ### 13. Fun, Engaging Team Challenges That Foster Learning and Full Participation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anshu J. | Sr. Quality Assurance Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I love the team activities and the way everyone was involved, solving the challenges throughout the day. I learned in a fun, engaging way.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

Process of team allocation: in my last event, some teams had five strong members, while my team had only three and one of those wasn't actively playing, which impacted my team's score.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The security staff I'm learning from is really helpful. being a QA role on the ResMed team, and I'm applying those learnings in my day-to-day work.

  ### 14. A Great Platform for Learning

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anamika G. | swe, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

The platform was great, and it provided a really good way to learn.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

While CMD+CTRL Training offers highly engaging, hands-on cyber ranges, users commonly cite a few key drawbacks, such as limited platform customization, a steep learning curve for non-developers, and high costs

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CMD+CTRL Training addresses the issue of passive, ineffective cybersecurity training by putting developers and IT teams into immersive, hands-on “cyber ranges,” where they can learn through practical, real-world-style exercises.

  ### 15. CMD+CTRL for hackatons

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

Nice practical like approach and interesting cases

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

Lack of feedback. I would be really grateful for info after training what could be done and what i missed. Or how could I use accesses i got.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It extends my knowledge with actual cases and hands on approach. Thanks to this i can be more aware how actual vulnerabilities works.

  ### 16. Hands-On, Practical Exploits with Clear Examples and Real-World Impact

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I like the practical exploits. There are examples of exploits, how to exploit and what is the effect of each weakness.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

There are some bugs or even exploits that don't count towards the goal.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm getting more insights on how to build secure applications. In addition it also helps me to explain vulnerabilities and their effects to my colleagues.

  ### 17. Engaging Cyber Ranges, Helpful Team

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Natalie B.

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2026

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

The people at CMD+CTRL Training are great to work with and very helpful. The cyber ranges are well received across the company, and employees have provided feedback that they are really helpful in learning how to create secure code and understand vulnerabilities. The CMD+CTRL team members are excellent at figuring out what we need for each range.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I think the training needs to be more applicable when taking it and not just more sit and learn from the feedback we are receiving from employees. If it's possible to do more scenario-based trainings similar in some respect to how the cyber ranges are.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CMD+CTRL Training solves license assignment issues, provides course suggestions and loading, and helps host cyber ranges, enhancing learning and security awareness.

  ### 22. Great Hands On Way to Learn Cybersecurity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2025

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

The Cyber Ranges are engaging and the lessons provided by proctors really help understand common security issues, why they exist, how to exploit them and how to fix them.
I also like the wide variety of ranges available. By having ten or so, it means the challenges and lessons are always new, so my friends and I can continuously learn. They are much more realistic than some of the other ranges that offer linear play or predictable results.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I really wish there were more events that individual learners could be a part of.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Learning about cybersecurity can be really hard. And while traditional courses are helpful in setting a baseline of knowledge, very few provide hands on environments to take academic learnings and make them practical skills. CMD+CTRL gives users the opportunity to learn in an engaging, hands on way.

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

The trainer was very responsive and knowledgeable. The range performed well. This is a great value for the community and I'm looking forward to seeing more from them!

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I think the introduction video that explains how to use the product could be improved by using a different voice. The voice sounds like an AI-generated voice, and that was somewhat distracting for me.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing a free and open alternative for cyber training to the general community that is accessible to anyone willing to learn. I think it's important to offer high quality training that everyone can afford.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** T E. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2023

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

The Security Innovations training was very user friendly and easy to deploy to the teams in our organization, so implementation and integration took no time at all for us. In addition to having a wide range of training topics I was able to craft a specified module and use it as standardized training for our FedRAMP initiative that thoroughly satisfied our auditors. The employees at this company are top tier and always willing to go above and beyond even in a time crunch. They give customer support new life in this day when service is so valuable.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I do not have any dislikes about the training.

Their responsiveness and flexibility are highly helpful, leading to engaging and impactful learning experiences. Overall, their comprehensive training and commitment to enhancing our secure coding skills are significant upsides.

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

One aspect that could be improved is the lack of visibility for administrators to view each participant's learning journeys without requiring an additional license. Providing administrators with access to this information could enhance oversight and support tailored guidance for participants more effectively.

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Security Innovation Training assists us in ensuring our people are well equipped in coding securely to help elimate risks to our customers

  ### 34. Best Developer Training Available

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2023

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

Not only does it have broad and deep coverage for all popular developer languages and frameworks, but it also has excellent security training for other software work roles like an architect, scrum master, QA test engineer, DevOps, cloud engineer, and more.

The training has a mix of learning modes:
- linear courses ... a lot of them!
- interactive labs where the user is given a specific challenge, e.g., fix the vuln in this block of Phython code, or try this MITRE ATT&CK on a live applicaion.
- full-featured vulnerable applications to practice, explore, and run team events

Other positives:
- Very easy to get started; turn-key implementation via SaaS
- Strong report integration with our systems
- Very responsive customer support
- Updated frequently so content remains current (we use it every month)

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

Inability to customize learning paths on our own

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to give development teams concrete experience with the vulnerabilities they create. We need a platform that lets them see the effects of an exploit to help make it real for them. We found this is a powerful way to help them understand the need for change and make them willing to implement it.

  ### 35. Security Innovation Cyber Range events are unlike anything else out there

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2023

**What do you like best about CMD+CTRL Training?**

Security Innovation Cyber Range events are fully planned. Before the event, I received content I could use to advertise the event, as well as links to training that participants could take to prepare for the event. The event itself is a masterpiece, where a lead instructor provides an introduction to the platform, as well as intermittent labs to help guide participants throught the event. Other instructors are standing by to help people who are stuck or need some help. And then after the event, I got a full breakdown of the results, with links to additional training, personalized for each participant. It just doesn't get any better than this!

**What do you dislike about CMD+CTRL Training?**

I can't think of anything I dislike. Based on a survey from participants of the event, there was nothing they disliked either!

**What problems is CMD+CTRL Training solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Security Innovation training offers online courses as well as Cyber Range events that give people insight into aspects of security that they may not be aware of. Plus, there is something for everyone, from beginner to advanced, from web applications to cloud. Based on survey responses, the majority of participants in Cyber Range events learn something new that they can immediately use in their jobs.
