"Club Express is perfect for us and it keeps getting better!"

What do you like best?

It's difficult to choose what is the best aspect to Club Express. We use the calendar function for all of our social activities for registration, payments, etc. Also the membership function for renewals has really simplified the process. We actually paid to have a special report built so that we can print our directory every year in the format everyone was accustomed to seeing. We keep members and potential members informed about our youth programs and sailing on the web pages and we use email blasts to communicate everything from reminders to urgent needs. It has been really easy to set up and maintain. I had never done a website before and now I am a web master. I can't forget to mention how great the support is.

What do you dislike?

Club Express met most of our needs when we first made the decision in 2015 and most of the shortcomings have been removed with the new releases that have come out since. I have no dislikes, however our treasurer has some issues with the QuickBooks link.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are a small club (around 150 member families) that operates primarily in the summer. We have solved a major communications problem with Club Express by being able to easily keep everyone up to date on activities. We took a great deal of time out of the membership renewal process. The link to QuickBooks solved some accounting issues. We are all volunteer with no paid employees so making any job easier makes it easier to get volunteers.

"Challenging, but worth the effort."

What do you like best?

Some of the technicians are highly intuitive and skilled. As a non IT professional it is often difficult to use nomenclature for effective communication. There are several Technicians on staff that have the ability to glean enough information to provide a quick and thorough resolution.

What do you dislike?

I find the 940 page manual overwhelming. It takes hours to search for needed information by accessing the manual only through the narrow identifiers given in the table of contents. There is not even an index for this vast collection of documentation. A search feature should be implemented for both the Manuals and you tube tutorials.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Be prepared to commit weeks of your time to learn the nuances of Club Express if you plan to build your own site. Patience is imperative. It takes a while to get a response from support. They usually respond within 24 hours, but sometimes it takes longer. No assistance is available on the weekends or after hours and unless you know exactly where and what to search for in poorly referenced documentation...tremendous effort and diligence is necessary to figure systems out on your own.In retrospect, I would recommend hiring CE to build your site. But perhaps all of this is by design to promote dependency and subsequent generated revenue by Club Express.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We chose ClubExpress to facilitate automation of our club dues.

What Association Management solution do you use?

Thanks for letting us know!

"Extensive Club Express experience - GREAT PLATFORM!"

What do you like best?

I like the usability of Club Express, I appreciate the excellent customer service and the updates that they do on a frequent basis. I love the database for membership and the fact that it is quickbooks friendly. We have used it for several years now and I am a firm believer in the product and recommend it to other camera clubs that we have in our group. I also use Club Express in the camera club that I belong to, Monticello Camera Club and held a round table at our annual convention and recommended it to other clubs.

What do you dislike?

sometimes the learning curve can be a little steep, some people just don't have the computer skills to navigate the control panel. I wish the photo albums had a little more "customizability" and that you had other sort options. The forums just don't get utilized and perhaps an update to the look and feel for the forums would improve participation

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you want a website that will manage your membership AND your events, this is the product for you. We have a council and sub-groups that utilize the software and are very satisfied. Club Express listens to their customers and improves their product on a regular basis.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have been able to utilize the Event Module and the updates have been significant and appreciated. The calendar and the membership modules help us keep track of our members and I like the email reports.

"ClubExpress Helps Manage our Organization"

What do you like best?

Before ClubExpress, we did not even know who all are members were, who paid their dues or when things were happening at the Club. We have been using ClubExpress for just over a year and the membership is more engaged. We have views of who our members are, when their membership is due and when they have paid. Events are easy to organize and collect registration data. Surveys are simple and allow us to interact with the membership.

What do you dislike?

Could use a way to easily click to send an invoice to a single member. Need easy way to email a single member.

Would like a common editor between New Articles & Emails.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Try it out first and make sure it meets your needs.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Member insight has been solved with ClubExpress.

Organization of events with registration and payment is a breeze now.

"A good idea with poor usability"

What do you like best?

Club Express is one of the few companies to offer a solution for clubs and other organizations to provide membership services, ability to communicate, and a website all rolled into one.

What do you dislike?

Our organization has been with Club Express since the beginning. The software has had many bugs and quirks and communication with the company have been frustrating. They are quick to make excuses or blame the user, as if are too stupid to use their program. For years we've needed the ability to 'attach' items to e-mails and they refuse to allow it. (What they call an attachment is just something stored on their server and linked in the e-mail.) The web editor is buggy at best and the WYSIWYG interface doesn't work well. (Luckily there is the ability to work with the actual HTML code, but you have to know code and be willing to take the time to sift through it.) The web editor doesn't play nice with all of the common browsers and instead of trying to fix it, they just blame the browser. Club Express used to be an affordable solution for small clubs, but minimum fees have increased and they are no longer viable.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Club Express will likely meet your needs, but if you can find another company offering the services you require, I'd give them a try instead. Using Club Express has been a frustrating exercise since inception and while I had hoped for major improvement, I've not seen it. Worst part is I don't like being talked down to by the support team and this has been the case from the beginning and from the top of the company to the bottom.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Having an online membership database and the ability to accept online memberships/payments was needed.

"Good new user experience"

What do you like best?

Very easy to implement. Membership data migration was straightforward. ClubExpress support has ben excellent. Has all the capabilities we need.

What do you dislike?

Couple of things: links are not recognized as such in plain text (i.e., when I type in a URL in a forum message using the standard editor, the output is not hyperlinked). Copy and paste doesn't work correctly in the character editor. The event and membership DBs are not that flexible - fields cannot be defaulted, added or removed in many cases.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Put together a migration plan before you start and don't let the scope of your migration grow beyond what you need to accomplish initially

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It has helped us unify our on-line resources, which were previously fragmented across multiple platforms. Payment and membership renewals are much easier and more flexible than what we had previously. Our site now has authentication and we can control who sees what. We're no longer dependent on a single club member who hand-coded the site. We easily achieved feature parity with our previous site in a matter of a few weeks, and designed a site that looks better than its predecessor.

"Great website support and Constantly trying to improve"

What do you like best?

Home page allow each section to have specific audiences: public, members only, etc.

What do you dislike?

Inability to modify an event registration for a person once they have made a partial payment. But cancelling and re-registering isn't all that difficult.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Understand exactly what specific items are critical to your business and make sure the package you select does that well. Doing most other things well but not delivering efficiently on these key things will make for a disaster. Best example I can think of is handling payments properly and accurately. Does it handle credit cards, etc.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Tailoring the website to multiple levels of viewers: members/public. Have seen significant increase in daily visits.

"Great for professional association!"

What do you like best?

I like the platform is a one-stop shop for our membership management, web presence, and emarketing.

What do you dislike?

It does not take the place of a financial management system, such as Quickbooks. The learning curve for new officers is not bad but some functions of the system aren't intuitive until you learn the Club Express lingo.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Consider using their professional services for onboarding--you'll be up and running more quickly and in a better position to drop whatever you're coming from.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Keeping membership database accurate, billing in a timely manner and without much over site. Overall it is a time savings but still needs attention.

"Pleased with the comprehensive package"

What do you like best?

The support has been great and accessible as we implement this exciting platform. Really appreciate the help in building our website and with member and donor uploads.

What do you dislike?

I haven't found any so far -- the support team has made every request happen.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The support is great for this comprehensive product. ClubExpress is streamlining everything we do and making data collection much easier.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

ClubExpress has helped us to automate membership services; track donors for cultivation; eliminate a paid and clunky e-newsletter site; collaborate with affiliates better; cut down on outdated paperwork and forms; modernize our document storage. And that's just today.

"TOP PLATFORM FOR CLUBS"

What do you like best?

I have recommended CE to many other clubs, and now I am an administrator for 3 clubs using this platform. I like the ability to register online, pay online, print reports, manage clubs with multiple chapters, and pretty much everything else CE can do. It's easy to use, and enhancements are happening all the time.

What do you dislike?

I really don't have any complaints. I do have a wish list of items that I'd like to see, but they are doing enhancements constantly. Sooner or later, the enhancements I ask for will hit development.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you have a club, you really have to look at this platform. I'm an attorney and I have no background in creating websites, other than using CE. I formed one club site from scratch myself. We are in the process of implementing this system for the most recent club, and for reasons that have nothing to do with CE, it's not completely operational yet. However, my total experience with this platform with all 3 sites is over 10 years.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Rolling membership made easy. Reports of all kinds made easy.

"You get what you pay for"

What do you like best?

Good customer service. It's easy to get someone on the phone to help you.

What do you dislike?

Site is nuanced and not intuitive. It takes a lot of patience and many calls to customer service to get the hang of it. My biggest pet peeve is that it automatically assigns members a random user name instead of using their email address. Members can change their username, but they don't and then they forget the assigned one and can't log in. Admins cannot change members' usernames at all.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Weigh your other options first

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It gives us a platform to contact members, but the site could and should be capable of more.

"Mostly just ok"

What do you like best?

It allows you to manage different levels of membership for your organization. We have individual, corporate, and sponsorships.

What do you dislike?

The site is not user friendly at all. It’s worst for people who have programming experience. It is not very customizable. The worst part is the image management. My image folder is absolute chaos. It is not easy to organize or to go through and cleanup. A simple SFTP file management setup would make me happy.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use club express to manage our memberships and allow people to register for our events.

"Solid Foundations - Need customizable reporting options"

What do you like best?

One-on-one relationships with account manager means fast response to questions, requests for custom work, etc.

What do you dislike?

System can be limited on reporting capabilities - custom searches not supported.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Problems solved - unified platform; discussion forums; ease of site customization.

Benefits - data gathering on non-member interaction of site; communications/emailing tools functionality greatly increased.

"Easy web service for Organizations"

What do you like best?

The event calendar helps prospective and current members know what's going on all the time. All members manage the website and content with minimal help from our webmaster and President. Very easy to use, support is 24 hours max turnaround, if not instantaneous. Sponsors are finding us, new members are finding us-we are extremely pleased.

What do you dislike?

We would like to have RSVP for events-soon, we are told. I would like to be able to change expiration dates for membership-easier to understand/implement when the actually cut off is for membership, delete a charge, delete an event instead of canceled. Reporting for emails being sent. Knowing who is currently on line.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Sponsorship sign up is easier because it is all handled for us.

"Nice solution for managing club websites"

What do you like best?

Pros:

- Great customer support

- Events module

- Responsive designs

- Membership management module

What do you dislike?

- Sometimes clunky to add rows/columns to pages

- Sites are a little old looking

- Not always intuitive to figure out how to add documents, images, etc. if you don't do it all the time.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Be sure you look at the extras it provides, such as events and membership management. That's why we stick with it.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use it for a non-profit membership website.

"Flexible, Powerful, Limited to your imagination."

What do you like best?

The existing modules address most needs with easy implementation and flexibility. The ability to incorporate other features from other platforms into the site is very usefull.

What do you dislike?

The ability to export and manipulate data is limited to predefined reports and emails. Data extraction and syncronisation may require custom coding from club express..

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Review Administrators Manual to identify any custom rollout issues that may need to be considered before implementation. A good understanding of HTML will go a long way in your setup.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

This platform has allowed us to consolidate data and is allowing us to enhance communications with a diverse group of volunteers.

"A very powerful program that will pay for itself"

What do you like best?

We use the automated messaging to remind members to keep up with their dues

What do you dislike?

It is very large in its options making it a bit confusing to get a handle on, the manual is super-huge!

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure you a lot the proper amount of time to learn it

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Mostly at this point, we have only been taking advantage of the dues reminders

"Cumbersome and missing features"

What do you like best?

There is not much I like about this software.

What do you dislike?

It has a million features, but there are basic ones that I would use regularly that it doesn't offer. It is not intuitive. I find it over bloated with features and difficult to find what I actually want. It is not intuitive.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I was the Membership Director of the local chapter of an international non-profit. We have around 200 members. I needed to run various reports and was constantly frustrated by the cumbersome processes I had to go through to get info. I can't say there were any benefit. And, it ate up a lot of my time.

What do you dislike?

The reports function needs to be improved. Maybe when you hover the mouse over the icon, a description is needed.
