VMware licensing changes since the Broadcom acquisition have forced enterprises to rethink virtualisation, fast. Desktop estates are moving to virtual and cloud delivery at the same time. Rewriting every application to fit a new platform is slow and expensive, and repackaging by hand does not scale. Foundry is application portability and packaging software. It decouples applications from the operating systems and infrastructure they were built for, then delivers them to containers, AWS and AWS WorkSpaces on a self-service pipeline your team can run. No source code or installer required. Foundry has two tracks. Foundry Studio, for server and cloud teams, converts applications running on virtual machines into containers and AWS-native services while preserving how they behave. It supports Windows and Linux, including legacy operating systems, and gives infrastructure teams a practical VMware exit path without a rewrite. Foundry Flow, for desktop and VDI teams, automates application packaging and delivery for non-persistent virtual desktops, with a dedicated AWS WorkSpaces path and support for Microsoft AVD App Attach. Apps are ready the moment a user logs in, without fragile golden-image rebuilds. Key capabilities: - VM-to-container conversion from a VM image, with no refactoring or recoding - Dependency discovery and analysis for existing workloads - Automated, high-volume application packaging for Win32, legacy installers and custom enterprise apps - Delivery to containers, AWS, AWS WorkSpaces and virtual desktops - Typical infrastructure cost reduction of around 40% compared with VMs Common use cases include VMware exit, data centre consolidation, cloud migration to AWS, VDI rollouts and application portfolio modernisation. Team17 used Foundry Studio to move classic multiplayer game services off an unsupported operating system onto AWS ECS Fargate, with no disruption for players. Built by Cloudhouse, the London-based enterprise software company behind the AWS End-of-Support Migration Program for Windows Server, with more than 500 enterprise customers since 2010.
