Cloudflare's "Cancellation" System is a Joke - 35+ Days, Multiple Charges, Still Can't Cancel **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Airlines/Aviation | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2026 **What do you like best about Cloudflare Application Security and Performance?** Nothing.Nothing.Nothing.Nothing.Nothing. **What do you dislike about Cloudflare Application Security and Performance?** Cloudflare's "Cancellation" System is a Joke - 35+ Days, Multiple Charges, Still Can't Cancel TL;DR: Cancelled all Cloudflare subscriptions on December 25th, 2025. Got charged anyway on December 27th AND January 27th. Their support says "engineers cancelled all subscriptions" but the billing page STILL shows an active $240/year subscription that I literally CANNOT edit or remove (the Edit button does nothing). Over a month later, still fighting this. --- The Timeline of Absurdity December 25, 2025: I cancel ALL my subscriptions through the Cloudflare dashboard. Everything. Done. Or so I thought. December 27, 2025: I get charged $10 for "Advanced Certificate Manager" - a service I JUST cancelled 2 days ago. I open a support ticket demanding a full refund, explanation of why a cancelled service was charged, and all payment methods permanently deleted. December 31, 2025: Support responds saying it's a "system-side issue" and they've "escalated to engineering." They also mention response times might be slow due to holidays. Fair enough, I guess. January 27, 2026: I GET CHARGED AGAIN. Same subscription. At this point I've been waiting a MONTH. January 29, 2026: Support claims "Our engineers have cancelled all active subscriptions on the account." January 31, 2026 (Today): I check my billing page. THERE'S STILL AN ACTIVE SUBSCRIPTION showing $240.00/yr with a renewal date of June 8, 2026. The "Edit" button? Doesn't work. Nothing happens when you click it. --- What I've Learned 1. Cloudflare's cancellation system doesn't actually cancel billing - They might stop your services, but the billing keeps rolling. 2. The UI is deliberately broken - You literally CANNOT click "Edit" on subscriptions to remove them. It's not a bug, it's a feature (for them). 3. Support plays the "escalated to engineering" card - Classic stalling tactic while they keep charging your card. 4. They ignore requests for legal contact information - I've asked multiple times for their legal representative's contact details. Radio silence. --- My Response to Their Latest "We cancelled everything" Email "No, you did not cancel all active subscriptions in my account! Can you see how that subscription is still active? I want that permanently removed." "You will have to remove my payment method, and permanently delete my account and make sure all subscriptions are canceled!" --- What's Next - Filing complaint with ANPC (Romania's consumer protection agency) - Filing EU consumer protection complaint - Contacting legal representation - Documenting EVERYTHING for potential legal action --- The Real Question How is a company this big allowed to have billing systems this broken? Or is it "broken" by design? When you can't cancel a subscription because the Edit button literally doesn't respond to clicks, that's not a bug - that's a dark pattern. --- Has anyone else experienced this with Cloudflare? I'd love to hear your stories. Maybe we can compile enough cases for a class action. EDIT: I have the full 5-page support ticket transcript as evidence. Just don't have an issue with them or you're on your own. Also, don't keep a credit card on file or they'll bill you for their mistakes. **What do you dislike about Cloudflare Application Security and Performance?** Customer support and billing. Their support does not read what you have to say but rather comes in with their own interpretation of what has happened and forces their views on your issue rather than trying to understand exactly what is happening. On two occassions in the last few months I have had this happen when I encountered an issue with the core product and their billing. The billing should be detailed further as it is sketchy business practices. Back in April they changed their billing software and charged me incorrectly for a month as it included the previous month as well (which I already paid). I brought this to their attention and the billing support assured me that it was not a problem. Come last week, they limited my account as I "had unpaid biling" so I contacted them again and brought attention to this wrong invoice that they never corrected. Come yesterday, they just charged my credit card on file without my authorization or explanination of what is going on. I've replied to the open ticket and created a new ticket and no one is answering. I don't want to be a drama case but this is ridiculous to have been charged something from months ago and not be given an explanation. **What problems is Cloudflare Application Security and Performance solving and how is that benefiting you?** Improve the security and performance of our websites/applications. Their configurable/customizable WAF, CDN/Caching, bot mitigation, and DDoS protection accomplish this for our websites/applications. ### 3. Support very unresponsive. Not understanding P1 urgency. It has numerous features, and they are indeed needed by a web app. **What do you dislike about Cloudflare Application Security and Performance?** If your implementation goes well, it's fine. However, if you are in trouble, the support doc is useless. You pay for the pro plan to try to get some technician support. No one cares about your business or service, even if you identify it as a P1 urgency. My project was down and could not get anyone to help me when I identified it as a high-impact ticket. **What problems is Cloudflare Application Security and Performance solving and how is that benefiting you?** The ticket support system is horrible. No technicians provide you with timely manner answers and support. Not worth the price. ### 4. Good for websites. **What do you dislike about Cloudflare Application Security and Performance?** This DNS has many drawbacks and inconveniences. It causes problems on sites that use Cloudfare as a security measure, such as G2. It also makes it harder to pass website captchas, especially Google captchas, than using your ISP or Google's own captcha service. For example, you may have to select all the images with a fire hydrant or complete a picture puzzle with the whole fire hydrant, motorcycle, etc. Bottom line: bad for website visitors. **What problems is Cloudflare Application Security and Performance solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's not solving anything for me. There are other free DNS options available to use instead which have a lot more going for them like adblock and malware protection. However, they too can be blocked by some sites or make it even more difficult to complete captchas. ### 5. They try to package it better, but their main focus is on marketing and sales, not proving good service. They are constantly pushing their different features and trying to upsell stuff. **What do you dislike about Cloudflare Application Security and Performance?** Cloudflare does not provide any support! Even for paying customers like me, there is no way to contact support other than email. Following the advice of the sales team, the only people one can talk to, I submitted a support ticket. I never heard back from them. After more than 12 hours and 3 more calls to the sales team trying to connect to someone who can help resolve the issue, I have switched to AWS Route53. I still don't know what happened and how my account was hacked, but one thing I know now is that Cloudflare does not provide any support and the button "Under Attack?" on their homepage is a joke. **What problems is Cloudflare Application Security and Performance solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have not realized and specific benefits with the Cloudflare CDN. Other providers provide the same features, but are better in supporting their customers. ### 6. Pricey plan. Even for the Paid version! We became locked out of our account, because of a mistake that we made. When we asked for support, it was impossible to get the problem resolved. However it has many downsides including IP and functionality issues, so this may suite a basic single page non interaction site. However I would warn against any other types of site using as any minimal improvements are massively outweighed by the issues. Also Cancelling is almost impossible and Cloudflare try to avoid at all costs - So Beware.
