## Cloudcraft Reviews
  ### 1. Shines on AWS; Dull on other clouds

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anirudh M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Cloudcraft?**

Easily discover the stack when consulting on the new AWS based project. Additionally, the continuous sync allows to review the changes as made by the DevOps teams and keep the cost under control.

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

Biggest being that it doesn't support GCP or Azure or Hybrid cloud. On multiple engagements, I have to look for better alternatives for other clouds. Another thing that I have found in other alternatives and not in cloudcraft is visualising / discover the security rules currently applicable.

**Recommendations to others considering Cloudcraft:**

If you are using AWS in any way, do ensure to check them. I saw it first time in one of the demo presented by one of the customer I was consulting and have used this ever since now and then.

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Stack analysis & Cost Tracking

  ### 2. Quick and easy AWS infra mapping tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Frank V. | Director of Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Cloudcraft?**

The simplicity of use. Able to quickly map and iterate on almost any AWS infra. This is ideal for explaining scaling strategies to customers and showing how certain AWS solutions affect the budget in different ways.

Their budget calculator is easier to use and more visual than AWS' - even the new pricing calculator offered by AWS.

We especially like the Live feature!

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

Limited support for custom icon library. Wish there was a better 2D representation for maps.

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Planning and mapping AWS infra. Communicating infra needs to clients.

  ### 3. The best way to document your AWS infrastructure

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew W. | Senior Security Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Cloudcraft?**

Cloudcraft is really easy to use and hook up to AWS, giving live information for your AWS infrastructure in a clear and semi-automated diagraming tool, offering both 2D and 3D renderings. The interface is intuitive and fast. Track costs and resources and visualise how they interact. The support team are fantastic and are quick to respond to any ideas or issues.

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

With new features coming all the time there is nothing to dislike about Cloudcraft.

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking costs and usage in AWS and documenting our setup for quick reference.

  ### 4. Simple and Creative

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Cloudcraft?**

The drag and drop options as well as the cost calculator... these are some great features that anyone who is nee to this can easily design their architecture..

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

There are only selected services available by default.. marking text heading between two connections is not available.. we have to take a separate text box and try to align the text on top of the connecting lines between two services

**Recommendations to others considering Cloudcraft:**

I would and already have recommended all my friends and colleagues about this

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I usually teach my students AWS... and this tool made it easy for me to help them show the architecture examples and use mine to provide my lectures on it..

  ### 5. Easy Setup and Great Visibility

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan W. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Cloudcraft?**

Cloudcraft was extremely easy to setup. We turned it on and could immediately see a complete overview of our infrastructure. Could filter and deep dive into pieces with ease.

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

Maybe it was the nature of our setup but our environment was a bit of a mess to look at. Certain pieces took up more space than others and narrowing into those smaller pieces was harder. This might be less of a shortcoming of Cloudcraft and more of how we're setup and what their typical setup is.

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to view how everything in our infrastructure worked together and highlight pieces that we were missing or that we had forgotten about.

  ### 6. Great tool for documentation and first insight

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthias M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2020

**What do you like best about Cloudcraft?**

Cloudcraft is a great tool to get a first insight of existing environments and to present sketches to my colleagues while discussing about new projects.

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

There are still some rare AWS services not supported which I need in my daily business. But all of them are already on the public available roadmap.
In addition the support of other cloud providers would be awesome.

**Recommendations to others considering Cloudcraft:**

Just apply for a trial usage and give it a try the sync with one of your test environments. It is really easy to setup and use.

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cloudcraft replaced my pen and paper work when I do a first dive into an existing environment. I like getting an immediate graphical overview over the whole setup.
In addition I like the sharing of blueprints, which helps me in calls with colleagues to present my ideas.

**Official Response from McKinley Padier:**

> Thank you for your review, Matthias!

  ### 7. Great Product for AWS, Lacking Some Modules & Features

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** George K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Cloudcraft?**

I like how easy it is to use and how nice it looks. Perfect for an engaging presentation. I also like that you estimate how much that particular architecture will cost, it's a really easy way to demonstrate the effectiveness of a particular plan or arcitecture.

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

A lot of services just have the 2d images and not full 3d objects which ruins the look and feel and also means you have to import your own sometimes.

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There were limitation as the services that it has from AWS, especially serverless services. But the diagrams I was able to produce provided a lot of value for the business.

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

Would be nice if there was a dark mode for Cloudcraft (maybe there is one and I havnt' found it yet)

**Recommendations to others considering Cloudcraft:**

Play around with other tools and come back to cloudcraft and see what you prefer.

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**What do you like best about Cloudcraft?**

Export to Terraform code and budgetary feature.

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

Limited to AWS. We mostly use Azure cloud. It would be fantastic to have it supported here in the platform.

CloudCraft is a great tool to design and document amazing professional looking architecture diagrams, and on top of that it's really simple to use.

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

It's sometimes hard to position text the way you want it, and the arrows between elements could be more customizable.

  ### 43. Great product and improving

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucas W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Cloudcraft?**

I think Cloudcraft by focusing exclusively on AWS diagrams is great.

For instance, the components are not merely visual blocks, they have additional semantics and behaviors. If you select the Lambda component you can specify the memory, requests and running time, and receive the cost estimate. Select an EC2, choose the instance size and see the machine specs, costs and visuals all update at once. Next step: connecting your diagram with your live AWS environment!

isometric views are pretty, but flat diagrams are much more readable.

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

Their selection of objects is still lacking.

**Recommendations to others considering Cloudcraft:**

If you only draw AWS diagram, this is the choice.

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Draw AWS diagram and export to terraform is fun.

**Official Response from McKinley Padier:**

> Thanks for your review, Lucas!

Visualization is very good, especially 2d and 3d view.

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is more beneficial for who creates architecture for cloud based software projects.

  ### 45. Great tool for students to learn and discover new things.

**What do you like best about Cloudcraft?**

Cloudcraft is a dynamic cloud infrastructure drawing tool that allows systems architects, developers, and technical designers to create smart diagrams of their cloud infrastructures.

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

One helpful feature would be to link icons with other objects so that they are in an object group.

**Recommendations to others considering Cloudcraft:**

Good product to use.

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solving both visual understanding and implementation of our AWS architecture for documentation purposes as well as cost analysis for budgeting and proposals.

The visualizations are great for presentation and adopting white paper implementations. The ability to export to terraform is a big win!

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

I wish more clouds were supported, in particular GCP. I would also like to see a cloud agnostic k8s visualization.

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cost estimation and visualizations are really helpful. Also, the side benefit of communicating visualizations of a cloud architecture to other teams helps give orgs a holistic view of the stack.

1. CloudCraft supports most of the AWS components.
2. I am able to maintain my architecture very well.
3. I am able to export the diagrams in multiple ways.

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

1. Cloudcraft should support the resizable canvas.
2. It should support the text-based diagram creation as well.

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to create my cloud-based architectures easily with inbuilt AWS components.

  ### 50. An extraordinary piece of software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Cloudcraft?**

CloudCraft is simple and intuitive to use, offering great functionality and advanced services for direct use with Terraform for AWS

**What do you dislike about Cloudcraft?**

Unfortunately I lack direct interfaces to GCP and other templates as examples.

**What problems is Cloudcraft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In addition to the excellent visualisation of infrastructures, we were able to achieve rapid prototyping using terraform exports. Furthermore, we were able to get a quick and accurate overview of the expected costs for given AWS infrastructures.
