Instead of using Pomodoro techniques and trying to track work time I just use Clockify. I like that I can categorize what I'm working on. It helps me set my time intentionally. Also, that they have an app as well as a website. **What do you dislike about Clockify?** It's not the prettiest platform to use, BUT it's functional. Also sometimes the summary or reporting can be confusing to navigate through. It's functional, but I do wish it was easier to finalize the document. I like the approach of how they handle the auto-start of the time tracking. It is really simple, you just need to set the right configuration and the tool will do almost all for you (start tracking the time when you log in and stop the timer when you log off or shut down the computer). I like also how easy is to manage the timer tracking in the reports. **What do you dislike about Clockify?** With the current version I don't like that: - there is no simple option to switch between projects, the user needs to open the app and switch between the projects. I would rather see, in case I have multiple projects configured in the tool, that tool notifies me 2 - 3 min after the timer is started without a project to pick the project (from the dialog without opening the application) - in the component which shows you which apps did the user use (and how long) I would like to see the grouping (on the app level and also to create some discriminators. For example if I use Eclipse, on which project I'm working or maybe on which service so that I can get working time in Eclipse per project or something similar). **What problems is Clockify solving and how is that benefiting you?** The main problem, which Clockify solves, is time tracking. There was always the question of how much time you work on the particular project and on the week level. And this is right now, thanks to Clockify, easy to answer. When duplicating composed activities (2 or more wth same name) the duplication only affetcs one acitvitie, not the entire set. Anyone can and the features do not differentiate between roles, they are the same way for everyone making it really acessible. When I initially started using it, I focused on providing lots of detail about the tasks I was performing and the process of recording my time became burdensome. I realized that for my purposes, I didn't need a detailed record of what exactly I did; rather, I needed an accurate idea of what project I was working on. I've since simplified my task descriptions and that has helped me not feel like tracking my time was just another thing to do on top of everything else. I also like how easily even multiple time reports transfer to Excel. **What do you dislike about Clockify?** It could simply be the way my company has divided the projects and tasks, but there are some 400 tasks under probably 80 projects and it's become cumbersome to sort activities in a logical way. Most of us are so busy trying to navigate this maze that we don't have time left to benefit from any efficiency insights that Clockify could provide. I also DESPISE the Mac OS app. Frequently, tasks and/or projects will not be found or I'll try to save an entry several times to no avail, even though my internet connection on all the other programs I'm using at the moment seems to be stable. I'll switch to the browser version instead and magically have no issues, but then it's easy to get the Clockify tab lost amongst tens of other Chrome tabs. Finally, I wish there were an automation through Clockify to generate monthly timesheets per employee on a specific project in the specific formatting a client has requested without just manually transferring the hours they've entered into Clockify for the month over to Sheets or Excel. I know there's likely a workaround with Zapier, but I would think that other Clockify users would also benefit from a feature like this. **What problems is Clockify solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm able to create reporting timesheets for multiple employees with the tasks already sorted according to each of the project's work packages. It's also been useful when identifying the percentage of my time that's going to each area of my role so that I can ensure these are aligned with my manager's goals and my own eventual career goals. ### 27. The free version will give you everything you need to get started so you can make an informed decision on what it is that your team really needs.
