What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?

The most helpful thing that caught my attention was how many brushes were available for my use. Yes, other drawing software offers brushes, but the difference with clip studio was the brushes they provided were so similar to what you would find in a traditional setting. What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?

A few default keyboard shortcut keys for clipstudio was difficult to figure out at first. This led me to going into the settings to change it to what am most comfortable with. The second issue I encountered is clip studio animation timeline is very difficult to use if you dont have a guide to show you how it works. The animation timeline is not user friendly which will not allow you to easliy figure out how to work with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best alternative for illustration against Adobe, for the one-time!"

What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?

One is accessibility. It's got an interface similar to Photoshop but less cluttered and more down-to-earth for illustration and the best pen engine and stabilizer I've felt in ages. The second is performance; it's been steadily beating Photoshop's consumption rate on my pc, even running in one with four gigabytes of ram, which is impressive. After that comes the pricing, accessible as well, at 50 for illustration, and 220 for the more premium experience, bundled with animation software built-in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?

There are things that I dislike, and for the most part, it has to do with the animation side of the software, where I would love for it to expand further. That and making saving slightly faster, in that regard, it's matched one to one with Adobe's overpriced PH square, being relatively slow if you have a lot of layers on your project. What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?

I love the quick perspective tools in clip studio paint, I believe it's like no other program. I also love that there are so many free brush packages out there available to artist Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?

Industry wise photoshop and illustrator are preferred over clip so there are times when I don't use it and to relearn the program takes some time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?

It takes some time to figure out all the different tools within the application, as well as the best options for the specific technique you want to use, and there are no great tutorials on how to do so. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?

Clip Studio Paint has a whole suite of features that are unique to it and that help speed up and simplify the illustration process tremendously. This ranges from features like vector lineart, which feel no different from drawing bitmap lineart, but can be adjusted in weight or easily bent and repositioned without losing quality, to things like a sub view menu which lets you immediately pick colors from reference images. Every part of Clip Studio Paint feels like it was designed with artists and mind, and the list of features grows steadily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?

The one area where Clip Studio Paint needs improvement, is its font support. It would be great to be able to have alternate glyphs available for handwritten fonts that feature this option for a more natural, handwritten look. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?

Clip Studio Paint makes illustrations very easy even for a beginner. Tools are very self explanatory. There is a tool to make every job easy, unlike adobe illustrator which has a steep learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?

You have to download stock images/wallpapers from the cloud and it does not always work. sometimes tools and things stop working and you have to figure out what the issue is on your own. not good customer support for this program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?

I bought a license for thier program and NEVER received the license yet they took my $99 and when I complained and asked for my license they didnt even address my request. They just noted that since I canceled the service (it expires NEXT YEAR) that they didnt need to give me my license! Even though I paid for it for a year!! The customer service is terrible. The automated pay system doesnt deliver the product that you pay for. Its a terrible company. Dont buy!!!! I repeat! DO NOT BUY!!!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Not the worst"
4/5
What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?

The processes in this are more streamlined than in GIMP and KRITA, probably the two closest programs (though both cost nothing). So overall less laggy, and handles large resolution files well (e.g. >20k pixel h/w at >300 dpi).

However this is very much so for drawing and can't really be compared to Photoshop. Photoshop is capable of a lot more, generally speaking, in regards to photo manipulation and creating text effects; however there are more manga-centric and publishing features (the extensive screentone support comes to mind) in Clip Studio. If you're going purely for traditional non-vector illustration this program is probably about as good as it gets.

Also, there is the advantage of Clip Studio costing a one time fee vs Photoshop's subscription payment system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?

The biggest weakness with this program compared especially to GIMP and KRITA is the clunky home screen UI, which shows news updates / recent art / promotions / mostly useless stuff. I don't believe it can be disabled or even really customized.

Also, the program creates a system settings file folder right in My Documents that cannot be moved or edited in any way. You should just make it invisible...no idea why they chose to do this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
