Climate TRACE is a non-profit coalition dedicated to providing a comprehensive, real-time inventory of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. By leveraging satellite imagery, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, Climate TRACE independently monitors and publishes emissions data from over 744 million assets across 67 subsectors worldwide. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and facilitate informed decision-making for climate action. Key Features and Functionality: - Extensive Emissions Tracking: Monitors GHG emissions from 745 million sources, including power plants, factories, ships, and agricultural activities. - Advanced Technology Integration: Utilizes satellite data, AI, and machine learning to analyze over 90 trillion bytes of data from more than 300 satellites and 11,000 sensors. - Detailed Data Granularity: Provides emissions data at the asset level, allowing users to examine individual sources or aggregate data by city, state, or country. - Comprehensive Coverage: Offers data spanning over a decade (2015-2025), with monthly updates available from 2021 onwards. - Open and Accessible Data: Ensures that emissions data is freely available to the public, supporting transparency and accountability. Primary Value and User Solutions: Climate TRACE addresses the critical need for accurate, timely, and independent emissions data, overcoming the limitations of self-reported inventories that often rely on estimates and delayed reporting. By providing detailed insights into where and when GHG emissions occur, it empowers policymakers, scientists, investors, and activists to set actionable goals, track progress, and implement effective strategies to achieve net-zero emissions. This radical transparency facilitates concrete climate action and helps hold emitters accountable.
