The main upside about the software is that it makes my job of design and implementation so much easier and quicker. Real world conditions and scenarios can be simulated very quickly with surfaces, alignments, profiles, volume calcs in conjunction will all the other tools available. When teaching C3D to new users, once its shown to them that everything that they need or looking for can be found on the tool space palette. The software suddenly becomes easy to understand. For new users most don't know the hidden key-in commands that are sometimes required in order to fix certain issues that arise. In my opinion you should not have to know these. I work for FDOT in the CADD office. Getting people to get on board with C3D from MicroStation is a challenge. DOT has been using MicroStation for so long users don't want to learn something new.
