## Cisco Packet Tracer Reviews
  ### 1. I have used Cisco Packet Tracer for a long time. Its useful to build up the blueprint of a network.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Syed Samiul I. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2020

**What do you like best about Cisco Packet Tracer?**

We can stimulate the network as the real network works. We can transform our idea and can understand its pros and cons. We can build different network architectures using cisco packet tracer. We can also experiment with those architecture using cisco packet tracer. The packet tracer works pretty fast. I haven't found any bug in that software yet and connects to the internet very easily. The interface is also very nice

**What do you dislike about Cisco Packet Tracer?**

Not every protocol works. Like the new version of the packet tracer doesn't support some older protocols. It creates some complexity. Like if a new version arrives we have to abandon a lot of things that we have learned in the previous version. There is a limitation in the guest login. The number of attempts can be increased.

**Recommendations to others considering Cisco Packet Tracer:**

Try it with proper direction. Try different ideas to implement. Be careful with the protocols. See the discussion box if you find any issue to implement your idea. Maybe others have faced the issue and solved that.I hope that it will be fun!

**What problems is Cisco Packet Tracer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have completed the CCNA Routing and Switching course. I have learned a lot of theories in that course which I have implemented using packet tracer. It helped me a lot to really understand the theories. I also completed my project named the internal network structure of a bank in the computer network course using cisco packet tracer. I have also implemented different network protocols using cisco packet tracer.

  ### 2. Perfecting Teaching for Computer Networks

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sharjeel Abid B. | Instructor / Lab Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Cisco Packet Tracer?**

The vast library of devices, easy to navigate interface, Simulation mode for understanding the packet traveling and information sharing. The wide variety of free courses also actively use the tool and make it excellent choice to use in classrooms instead of providing actual access to Networking Hardware.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Packet Tracer?**

I think with the large number of devices (>200), the program starts to get non-responsive so performance issues is the thing i dislike the most. Also newer interface color scheme is not futuristic, older was much better. Wish they bring it back

**Recommendations to others considering Cisco Packet Tracer:**

If you are teaching computer networks, there is no other tool better than packet tracer. Use it and don't look back. I have been teaching computer networks for nearly 10 years and with time seen this tool go from strength to strength. Initially it had only a few router, switches and end devices but now its library includes newer router and switches along with firewalls and wireless routers. Also list of end devices now include IP Phones, Tablets and other items so as to go along with this boom IOTs (Internet of Things).

So these features make it the ideal candidate for use in teaching Computer Networks

**What problems is Cisco Packet Tracer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For giving proper understanding of computer networks, we need to work on actual hardware which can be costly for educational institutions. Instead Cisco Packet Tracer gives you the nearly identical interface to working on the actual hardware and is therefore cost effective. The number of actual hardware devices available in the tool have been continuously improving and it has made it the de facto tool to use for instructors or network designers.

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2020

**What do you like best about Cisco Packet Tracer?**

The ability to simulate many different scenarios that is just like real equipment without needing the actual heavy, expensive equipment. From connecting cables to entering commands it is as close as you can get without using the real stuff.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Packet Tracer?**

Even though it is very close, there are quite a few things that are different on packet tracer compared to real equipment. Many commands have to be changed or modified to work on real routers from packet tracer. Some protocols don't work the same between the two, which can be frustrating when working on a project and needing to move it over.

**Recommendations to others considering Cisco Packet Tracer:**

I would say definitely try it, it is probably the closest thing to real routers and switches you can get without actually having them. Even if you don't use it often it is amazing the few times you do use it to either figure out a problem, play around, or just plain practice your skills to keep them up.

**What problems is Cisco Packet Tracer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Packet Tracer works best for simulating a network you have or want to build and using it as a sandbox/testing ground to see how everything interacts. Packet tracer is very useful for troubleshooting networking issues or keeping your skills up to date without the need for actual equipment.

**What do you like best about Cisco Packet Tracer?**

Easy hosts and end user nodes simulation , network topological design and analysis , UI & UX friendly and easy to use UI.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Packet Tracer?**

So far I didn't see cons in it but maybe the support for old pc's or devices with low computational power will have speed issues due to it's HW limitations , I used to try it on 2.0 GHZ celeron processor with about 50 hosts and it almost like that laptop was in ICU :D

I hope that they improve it's speed for old HW and new HW end user device for sure.

**Recommendations to others considering Cisco Packet Tracer:**

Easy hosts and end user nodes simulation , network topological design and analysis , UI & UX friendly and easy to use UI.

**What problems is Cisco Packet Tracer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used it in CDC , Iraq Baghdad project about 270 hosts was there at that time as well in IPO iraq riposte project 75 offices with near 200 host too, you can easily get the routers configuration export them instead of writing them and just copy and paste them their or via team viewer we managed that so you can save a lot of time and effort instead of relocating and getting in traffic jams to go and solve the problem their on site.

  ### 15. Easy for testing and Good for learning as platform for network professional
