It handles deployment and is responsible for ensuring that nothing is broken before releasing in production by running my test suites. I also get notified immediately whenever there are failing tests so I can fix it right away. **What do you dislike about CircleCI?** Due to the increasing number of developers in our company, we usually get delayed in deployments when the containers are insufficient. Hopefully CircleCI could forecast the number of containers needed by using the deployment data available to them and make suggestions. **Recommendations to others considering CircleCI:** It is really a very good CI/CD tool. It is free however, if additional containers would be needed, a small amount would be paid. The price is pretty reasonable considering the peace of mind that they bring whenever I deploy my application. By paying a small amount, you are pretty sure that none of the main features gets broken, which may cost more if it happens as the experience that your users will be having may negatively affect the company. **What problems is CircleCI solving and how is that benefiting you?** Faster deployment with lesser bugs! ### 4. Job queue up behind other jobs. It would be better to run all these jobs without a limit, especially since it is on a business account Another area for improvement would be to make the ssh easy to use. At the moment, you have to rebuild the job and enable ssh. However this is not great for flaky tests, which only sometimes fail The webhooks to github also sometimes fail, which means that the result of the test never get sent to github. For this, I sometimes have to rerun the tests just to make sure the pull request is unblocked - which could be time consuming **Recommendations to others considering CircleCI:** I would set up a free trial account and have a go. Being able to test and release code to multiple platforms and hosting providers has been a great help allowing to keep the process the same throughout the different workflows. **What do you dislike about CircleCI?** Some of the settings are somewhat difficult to find since it's not something we change very often. Since we're pushing several builds per day, it easily saves us at least 2 man-hours each day. It's very easy to set up, easy to customise to your own specific build pipeline and integrates well with other tools to send notifications when things go wrong. **What do you dislike about CircleCI?** Nothing major, really. The UI could be better, but to be honest, you won't spend much time in the UI once everything is set up. **Recommendations to others considering CircleCI:** I highly recommend implementing CircleCI as your CI backbone. Particularly when you run tests concurrently and are trying to get details on what failed. You have to view the artifacts from each run separately. And I still haven’t figured out how to rerun a single step that failed in the process. It is possible to use a range of tools for the complete CI workflow, from source checkout, maven project build, test and deploy to different stages. Its more than enough for projects written on languages that are not memory hunger like Java. They give you 4GB of memory to build your project. **What do you dislike about CircleCI?** Sometimes it takes too long to build, and some features are only available if you pay much more for it. The basic profile is only capable to attend small teams. If you have more people working on the project, doing a lot of commits, you may need to pay much more for it to work. We have faced a lot of out of service problems on the last couple of months, down times that were critical to the project. It's very difficult to build an Android project, as it requires a lot of memory to build, specially because the Gradle builder is memory hunger. **Recommendations to others considering CircleCI:** Use it when you have a small team, or if it fits your budget, buy the higher profile. We have been using it for several months now without any issue. **Recommendations to others considering CircleCI:** Integrate CircleCI in your build workflow on GitHub and add the results of the automated tests as a requirement for merging a PR. It took little effort to add git repos to the circleci projects. Also the circleci interface is quite slick. For Jobs, you can easily tab between the Test Summary, Queue, Artifacts Configuration and Timing! I am using version 2.0. I can't compare to the previous version, but so far I have to say this is much much easier to setup and run from scratch, compared to say Jenkins on prem. Last but least, you can send the results (Pass or Fail) -- and the link to it on the circleCI site -- via a Slack channel :) **What do you dislike about CircleCI?** Haven't run into any cons thus far. Migrating from CircleCI 1.0 to 2.0 constructs can be a challenge at times, but if starting with 2.0 version, then it's great. **Recommendations to others considering CircleCI:** It's a good time to start with CircleCI with their 2.0 release! Make sure to take advantage of their docker container setup to run and test your code. **What problems is CircleCI solving and how is that benefiting you?** Continuous integration, builds and test runs of code commits. The runs (jobs) and results have been quick and easy to consume thus far. Best part is not having to maintain a CI server like Jenkins. ### 32. We used CircleCI last few years. I was use to Jenkins. But it needs macOS server to using iOS. We are using AWS but unfortunately AWS doesn't support macOS. No direct support for local builds of 2.1 configs. No easy way to build containers in one step/command and then use it in a later step/command. **Recommendations to others considering CircleCI:** Start with 2.1 configuration version. Use the CLI to test configs locally. **What problems is CircleCI solving and how is that benefiting you?** Building iOS apps. Much simpler configuration language than Jenkinsfiles (though also less flexibility.) ### 34.
