"Solid Platform for Events and Member Discussions"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Circle?

It's an intuitive platform with several features that are helpful for connecting with members. I like that it has the ability to host events as well as have people participate in discussions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Circle?

Adding members feels like it shouldn't be as complicated, there are so many options to choose and since I don't have to break out my members into a lot of segments it's confusing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Circle solving and how is that benefiting you?

Circle gives us a place for our WellTold community to exist online. It's easy to share information and resources with members, and I like being able to post information in the platform instead of having to email people about everything that's happening in the community. "Highly recommend Circle as the most customizable and intuitive Community platform"

5/5

What do you like best about Circle?

The best thing about Circle is the customizability - you can gate access everywhere, decide which groups of your community you want access to which features or space, and you can tag and filter your community as you see fit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Circle?

I only wish that Circle has more editable posts - I wish I could edit them in the way that you can edit Notion pages, for example. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Circle solving and how is that benefiting you?

Circle helps us create a landing page for our community - a platform where our members can come together, get informed about their benefits and offers, connect with each other, and get the most out of their membership - with an easy to use, intuitive interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Modern, Organized, and Built for Real Engagement"

4/5

What do you like best about Circle?

I’ve been using Circle.so as the backbone of our online community, and it’s quickly become one of the most essential tools in our stack. Here’s what I like best about it:

1. Clean, Intuitive User Experience

Circle feels modern and effortless — both for community members and admins. Navigation is clear, engagement is intuitive, and the interface doesn’t feel cluttered or overwhelming. Members get in and immediately understand where to go, which boosts participation and keeps conversations flowing.

2. Flexible Community Structure That Scales

Whether you’re building spaces, channels, events, or courses, Circle lets you organize your content and interactions exactly how you want. I love that I can create sub-spaces, group relevant content, and tailor each area to specific audiences or topics without wrestling with rigid hierarchies.

3. Engaging Interaction Tools

The way Circle supports conversations — threaded comments, mentions, rich media embeds — makes discussions feel natural and alive. Members can easily contribute, reply, and stay connected. Plus, the notifications and daily digests help bring people back without being spammy.

4. Integrations That Keep Workflows Connected

Circle plays nicely with the rest of our tech stack: Slack, Zapier, newsletters, membership platforms, analytics, you name it. That interoperability is huge — it saves time and ensures data flows where we need it. It’s not an island.

5. Control & Customization for Community Managers

From roles and permissions to moderation tools and branding, Circle gives admins what they need to curate a safe, organized, and on-brand environment. The balance between simplicity and control is rare, and Circle really nails it.

6. Built-In Events & Courses

The calendar/event features and course delivery tools are major differentiators compared to older forum platforms. Being able to host live sessions, offer structured learning, and keep everything under one roof makes Circle a central hub — not just a place for discussion.

7. Mobile Experience That Works

A lot of platforms promise mobile parity but fall short. Circle’s mobile experience isn’t perfect, but it’s clean, fast, and usable — both in the browser and as part of branded mobile apps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Circle?

While Circle is a strong platform overall, there are a few areas where it still falls short or could be improved:

1. Limited Advanced Analytics

Circle provides basic engagement metrics, but it isn’t as robust as dedicated analytics tools. For deeper insights into member behavior, content performance, funnels, or cohort retention, you often need to pull data into external tools or build custom dashboards.

2. Notifications Can Be Overwhelming or Hard to Fine-Tune

The default notification settings can sometimes feel noisy for active users, and granular controls aren’t always obvious. Some members struggle to find the right balance between staying informed and getting pinged too often.

3. Search Isn’t as Strong as It Could Be

Finding older content or discussions sometimes feels clunky. Search works, but it’s not always intuitive or powerful enough — especially for large, active communities with tons of threads and posts.

4. Mobile UX Has Room to Grow

Circle’s mobile experience is usable, but not yet on par with leading apps. Navigation and responsiveness vary depending on device and browser. Branded mobile apps help, but they require extra setup and cost.

5. Feature Gaps in Gamification & Member Incentives

If your community thrives on badges, points, levels, or more advanced member reward systems, Circle’s built-in capabilities feel basic. You often need external tools or custom integrations to build engagement loops comparable to some competitor platforms.

6. Content Drip & Course Features Could Be More Sophisticated

Courses and curriculum delivery are functional, but more granular drip schedules, prerequisites, or more advanced learning-experience features (quizzes, rich progress tracking, certificates) are limited.

7. Price vs. Feature Set for Larger Communities

As your community scales, pricing can feel steep compared to simpler forum tools — especially if you end up layering on third-party tools to fill gaps in analytics, gamification, or custom branding.

8. Customization Has Limits Without Code

For many branding and layout tweaks, you can run into constraints unless you’re comfortable with custom CSS or using APIs. Out of the box, you can customize colors and text, but deeper UI control isn’t always possible without developer help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Circle solving and how is that benefiting you?

Problem: As membership grows, moderation, access control, and organization become overwhelming.

How Circle Helps:

Roles, permissions, private spaces, and structured channels allow segmentation and control without making the experience complicated.

Benefit to Us:

We can grow without losing structure. It feels organized and intentional even as membership expands. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Versatile Platform for Courses, Templates, and Events—Backed by a Responsive Team"

5/5

What do you like best about Circle?

I love the versatility of Circle. We are hosting all our offers on the platform, which include self-paced online courses, cohort-based courses, templates, and even in-person events. Their team is very responsive and they do a great job at helping you get the most out of the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Circle?

One limitation is that you can only apply one brand design to your community. We have several sub-brands in one community, and I'd love to be able to differentiate them visually in a better way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Circle solving and how is that benefiting you?

Circle makes it easy to build and grow a community-centered business. You only need Circle really for hosting and selling your community and courses, email marketing, website, hosting live session. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Circle is one of the best community platforms with a few caveats."

4/5

What do you like best about Circle?

One of the easiest and quickest to ramp up community-based platforms. From a software side of things, you can send emails, host webinars, and really provide a lot of value to your community. That being said, the system is only as good as the operator using it, so it still requires time, talent, and treasure to maintain a community. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Circle?

I wish there was more plug-in availability with maintaining information on CRM. Because we use this as a business, we have an external CRM which houses all of our contacts. I wish those integrations were more, but that's really nitpicking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Circle solving and how is that benefiting you?

"Easy Content Sharing, But Events Need Better RSVPs and Attendance Tracking"

3/5

What do you like best about Circle?

Circle lets me share content with members easily and in a natural way. I can quickly email members based on different criteria and send notifications whenever a new event is posted in the community, which gives it a social media feel. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Circle?

The event feature is very poor. Only recently did they start allowing guest RSVPs for events, but they still don’t let you create a personalised registration form to collect richer information when guests RSVP. Another issue is the lack of a proper attendance list where I can mark who showed up, who cancelled, or who was a no-show for in-person events.

Another limitation is that you can’t allow people behind a paywall to automatically RSVP for free to paid events (not without creating multiple times the same event in different spaces). Although Circle sells itself as an all-in-one platform, the CRM and event management parts are very limited. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Circle solving and how is that benefiting you?

I manage a community and need to share materials with my members from time to time. I really like that I can post readings directly in the community and then notify members by email, message, or app notification when the materials are available.

I also appreciate that I can now manage both my website and my community in the same place. That said, the CMS still needs some improvement.

The greatest benefit for me is being able to manage different functions within the same platform, so I don’t have to switch between tools constantly. While Circle still has areas to improve, I expect this benefit to become even more apparent over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Circle?

Circle is very easy to learn and use, and provides ThePlayground Senior Circle with exactly what we needed to keep a community from dissolving due to a prior platform closing down. The cost is very affordable (though we would like to see a non-profit pricing discount), and our members, being senior adults, find it very easy to use. And customer support has been outstanding! It seems difficult at times to schedule recurring events or change things from one-off to recurring without deleting the prior event and creating an entirely new one. Also, as Admin and Owner, I'd like to get an email when a new member joins us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Circle solving and how is that benefiting you?

There's a Loneliness Epidemic globally, and ThePlayground Senior Circle was created to help reduce the impact by providing senior adults with a safe, secure, private, ad-free, monitored online community to share thoughts, memes, articles, and more across over 20 Spaces (we call Groups). We also use Zoom Meetings to host at least one live event for direct personal interaction once a day. Members provide their time and resources in creating fun programs for others to enjoy. This benefits me as a Rotarian in that I'm helping to make a difference in the world and in the lives of those I touch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Clean, Intuitive UI with Powerful Analytics and Segmentation"

4/5

What do you like best about Circle?

The user interface is clean and intuitive, and it’s easy to navigate. I also appreciate the insights-focused system admin features, especially tools like analytics and segmentation, which make it simpler to understand and organize what’s happening in the system. What do you dislike about Circle?

I am currently limited in the types of content we can embed directly in the feed. I’d love to be able to incorporate more interactive, embeddable content that users can view right there, without having to click into a post and then follow a link just to see it. For example, an interactive Google Map.

I’d also like to see more functionality for a homepage or main landing page for my viewers. I’m very interested in creating a dashboard-style view for our users that links to various places and helps orient them when they first log in. A feed layout forces too much scrolling for this type of use case. It would be great if the new Site builder could also be embedded in a Circle page (login required to view). "Just What I Needed"

5/5

What do you like best about Circle?

I find the community and academy to be the best aspects of Circle. However, the reliability of the features makes this product stand out. Keep improving the usability of the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Circle?

I dislike the website builder. The templates make it all feel mundane. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Circle solving and how is that benefiting you?

Circle is giving me a way to have a dedicated space to focus and talk about issues that matter to me and my growing my community. Without ads I do not have to be bombarded with someone trying to sell me something. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Strong but minimal community platform at a premium price"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Circle?

Pleasant user interface, easy to understand, tons of educational resources, many features, responsive support, Zapier integration, reliable performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Circle?

Way too expensive compared to Discord, permission control is not granular enough, way too few Spaces (20) at $129/month, integrations are not powerful enough. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Circle solving and how is that benefiting you?

Gives us an approachable, friendly environment in which we can welcome and interact with community members. Livestreams, events, and gated spaces are helpful features to attract and retain members to augment standard community space expectations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
