What do you like best about Cinema 4D?

Cinema 4D has an incredibly strong community and a very user friendly interface. The user experience of Cinema 4D is for artists by artists and that shows. It's easy to get lost in competitive applications. Cinema 4D is built for simplicity especially for After Effects users. If you're looking to jump to a new package this tool is great! What do you dislike about Cinema 4D?

The potential power of Cinema 4D is untapped I believe. The best of both worlds would be that it offered this great simplicity while offering a deeper level of control with particle work, simulations, or rendering. The built in tools are fantastic and would take years to out grow but I have out grown them and for complex simulations I have to jump to Houdini or Maya. There are plugins solve this and the package by no means actually needs these items but they would save me a massive amount of time. For now the alembic exchange options with Houdini make up for it. What do you like best about Cinema 4D?

The UI is clean and very friendly . Cinema 4D has never crashed on me . Easy texturing . Easy simulation . Easy rendering . The in-built render is the most impressive render I've used .You have global illumination and ambient occlusion which is very easy to handle . I started to use Cinema 4D over the years as it offers more extend to your creativity and skills . If your a confused beginner I would recommend that you go for Cinema 4D cause there is a lot of tutorials available out there . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cinema 4D?

Unlike other softwares , Cinmea4d does not have normals options . So when importing as an .obj your faces might get into a little distortion . Other than that , I find it very fun to use . Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Cinema 4D?

I have been using Cinema 4D since R6. In that time, the software has advanced greatly, however, one thing I have always loved about Cinema 4D is the ease of use. I have used other software such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, Lightwave, Modo, Blender and others, and while each of them have specific parts that might stand above Cinema 4D, Maxon has created this suite that really has what is in my opinion the best of all worlds and it is really fast and usable.

I use Mograph tools, I have vray for rendering and I also use the advanced render when I need it. I can incorporate projection mapping and many other tools relatively easily. In my line of work I am making motion graphics, videos, web sites, mobile apps, print designs, etc and I can use the toolsets in Cinema 4D to render many styles of images and now I am just getting into STL export for 3D Printing. Cinema 4D is truly a tool that is best compared to the swiss army knife of 3D. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cinema 4D?

Cinema has many areas that could use improvement or lag behind other software packages in the industry such as character animation and a pipeline workflow for vfx that matches other more advanced software.

Sometimes the feature set grows faster than the developers can anticipate and the quality of new features takes a few releases to become truly polished or usable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy 3D modelling with Cinema 4D"
5/5
What do you like best about Cinema 4D?

Cinema 4D is very intuitive and user friendly 3D software. It offers many predefined materials but it is fairly easy to make your own materials. With usage of Deformers it is possible to make very interesting abstract shapes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cinema 4D?

I like all aspects of Cinema 4D, but I would like to see few tools for organic modeling ( like in ZBrush) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I use Cinema 4D for animation and rendering."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Cinema 4D?

Cinema 4D makes working in 3D easy. It helps designers with little knowledge of 3D easily jump in, and also has a lot of the tools for experienced 3D users to work. Also the animation tools are fantastic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cinema 4D?

The UV unwrapping is something from the stone age and is in desperate need of an update. I never unwrap in Cinema 4D and because of that tend to texture in other programs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Cinema 4D?

I like the user interface the most. While I was learning different 3d modelling programs, I found it the most user friendly application. The small icons next to the features and tools makes it much faster to recognise them while learning the program. It's easy to do nice visuals quickly and I can concentrate on the designing task. The built in rendering engine is good enough I dont have to install other engines. Also the motion simulation fuction is useful for quick animations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cinema 4D?

There are less content on the internet, compare to other popular 3d modelling softwares. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"my alternative to 3D studio max for mac"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Cinema 4D?

I used it for a couple of years for still image rendering due to the fact that 3d max wasn't supported on macs (i think still doesn't). The cinerender is good enough and the the minor modelling that i did was very straight forward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cinema 4D?

Their were not many ready textures and objects in the native file formats. Also if you import from archicad sometimes the export/import features don't work that well. i would say especially for the light sources to be inserted in C4D. Furthermore the renderer is good but you want to add Vray add-on to it which is at a different level especially for still imaging Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive, simple, powerful and very powerful."

What do you like best about Cinema 4D?

When I began in the world of 3D not know what program to use, I tried several and none understood it to start moving a single object, Finding Cinema 4D, I saw it was mu intuitive, easy to use, you remember quickly what each option representation with icons, because something that has this software is that it is very visual. On the Internet you have thousands of thousands of tutorials to learn so there is no problem that is always someone who can help you to manage the program,

All tools and options give you the ability to make animations and modeled high quality plus compatibility with software such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects where you can polish your work and create more spectacular things. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cinema 4D?

What I do not like it for the moment is that does not have its own engine to create fluid, use external programs as a real flow to have scenes of fluids. Maxon comes to add options to create liquid Cinema 4D and would be a standard in the 3D industry. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"C4d has been a go- to software for me when creating quick 3D elements to help communicate my designs"
5/5
What do you like best about Cinema 4D?

C4d is a software that anyone can learn. There's a wide variety of tutorials available for those that are new to the software. It is a great alternative in term so being a user friendly software compared to maya. Maya still requires many steps more than 5+ in order to get one effect done where as in c4d, a lot of those effects only require 2 steps. The interface is also very simple to understand where as maya requires a deep diving into menus - sub menus - and on. I was able to pick up on c4d in a matter of a week compared to taking a maya class for a whole semester. :) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Cinema 4D?

I think c4d is great for what it does but I do hope to see Macon push the boundaries even more. Possibly creating a more seamless experience when importing models from other 3D softwares.. So that it can encourage even more collaboration. If the software wasn't so slow when working with high fidelity models- people in the industry would consider using it more than maya. I think also taking it up a notch in terms of possibly collaborating with 3rd party 3D printers. That would be a great to just take my skills from c4d and make something in real life!
