"ChromeOS - Manikant Sharma Review!"

3/5

What do you like best about Chrome OS?

ChromeOS is unbeatable for speed, security, and simplicity. It boots in seconds, updates seamlessly in the background, and offers deep integration with Android and Gemini AI—perfect for a fast, clutter-free workflow that just works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chrome OS?

ChromeOS feels restrictive for heavy local tasks like professional video editing or high-end gaming. Its heavy reliance on an internet connection can be frustrating, and the Android app integration still occasionally feels unoptimized for a traditional desktop experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chrome OS solving and how is that benefiting you?

ChromeOS eliminates technical debt through seamless background updates and robust security. By prioritizing cloud-based workflows and Gemini AI, it provides a distraction-free, high-speed environment. This benefits me by ensuring a reliable, low-maintenance platform that stays fast over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Lightning-Fast Boot Times, ChromeOS Stays Snappy Over Time"

3/5

What do you like best about Chrome OS?

The speed is arguably its best trait. Because the OS is lightweight, most Chromebooks boot up in under 10 seconds. Unlike other operating systems that seem to get "heavier" and slower as they age, ChromeOS stays remarkably snappy because it isn't bogged down by years of legacy background processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chrome OS?

Because the OS is built by Google, your entire computing experience is tied into the Google ecosystem. For users trying to de-Google their lives or those who are sensitive about data telemetry, ChromeOS is essentially a non-starter Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chrome OS solving and how is that benefiting you?

Traditional PCs tend to get slower over time as registry files bloat, background services multiply, and "junk" accumulates. ChromeOS is a read-only operating system. It doesn't allow applications to mess with the core system files. My laptop stays as fast on day 1,000 as it was on day 1. I lose that nagging feeling that you need to "reformat" my computer every year just to keep it snappy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Superfast, Low-Maintenance and easy to use."

5/5

What do you like best about Chrome OS?

I mainly use Chrome OS for browsing, research work, and document light development. It's incredibly simple and the fastest OS I've used so far. I love that there are no system maintenance headaches; it starts up quickly and offers lightweight performance even on cheap hardware. The built-in security requires no effort, and everything is automatically managed, eliminating chaos. I appreciate the easy access to Linux when needed. The consistent speed and deep integration with Google are fantastic, and it’s incredibly smooth to use. It removes unnecessary computer clutter, allowing me to focus on my work. The initial setup was one of the easiest I've ever done, with no manual installation required. I highly value that I can boot it up and have a zero-maintenance mindset. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chrome OS?

It's tuned for heavy workflows like video editing or large-scale development but eventually reaches a limit. While it's improved over time, many apps still depend on internet access and an offline experience could be improved. Linux is useful but not fully seamless; it has issues that can be improved regarding file access, prediction and integration. It can feel a bit clunky as an app. It's amazing for simplicity and speed but starts to show minor struggles when handling heavy tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chrome OS solving and how is that benefiting you?

I find Chrome OS solves system maintenance issues with quick startup and lightweight performance. Security is built-in, and app management is hassle-free. The speed and simplicity let me focus on work without distractions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, Simple, and Reliable: Chrome OS at Its Best"

5/5

What do you like best about Chrome OS?

What I like best about Chrome OS is its speed, simplicity, and reliability. The system feels lightweight and responsive, with very fast boot times and smooth performance even on modest hardware.

I appreciate how seamlessly it integrates with Google’s ecosystem. Accessing Google Drive, Docs, Gmail, and other web-based tools feels effortless, making it especially efficient for productivity and everyday tasks.

Security is another major advantage. Automatic updates and built-in protections provide peace of mind without requiring constant manual maintenance.

Overall, Chrome OS offers a clean, distraction-free experience that is easy to use, stable, and highly efficient for both work and personal use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chrome OS?

One limitation of Chrome OS is its dependence on internet connectivity. While offline capabilities have improved, the experience is still best when connected, which can be restrictive in low-connectivity situations.

Software compatibility can also be a drawback. Although web apps and Android apps cover many needs, certain specialized desktop applications are either unavailable or less optimized compared to traditional operating systems.

Additionally, advanced users may find the system somewhat restrictive for heavy development or highly customized workflows.

Overall, Chrome OS is excellent for lightweight productivity, but it may not fully replace more versatile operating systems for power users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chrome OS solving and how is that benefiting you?

Chrome OS solves the everyday frustrations of slow, high-maintenance systems by providing a fast, simple, and reliable experience. I don’t have to worry about frequent system issues, heavy updates, or performance slowdowns.

For daily use, this means quick boot times, smooth browsing, and seamless access to web apps and cloud-based tools. Tasks like checking emails, working on documents, streaming, and general browsing feel effortless.

Overall, Chrome OS benefits me by keeping things lightweight and distraction-free, allowing me to focus on what I need to do without dealing with unnecessary system management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Secure and User-Friendly, But Limited Functionality"

3.5/5

What do you like best about Chrome OS?

I supported several clients that use Chrome OS, and I appreciate that it is a lightweight, relatively secure, and affordable operating system for thin devices. I find it very good at handling basic tasks and document generation. I also like that it's pretty locked down; it allows the user to do what they want to do without allowing them to do anything that could hurt the device to any real extent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chrome OS?

Chrome OS is a thin client operating system generally operating on cheaper devices, and as such, it is not capable of running most programs other than a word processor and a web browser. Additionally, there is a learning curve when switching from Windows administration to Linux administration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chrome OS solving and how is that benefiting you?

I find Chrome OS to be lightweight, relatively secure, and affordable for thin devices. It's effective for basic tasks and document generation, and it operates smoothly without letting users harm the device. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Ideal for K12 Education with Easy Management"

5/5

What do you like best about Chrome OS?

I use Chrome OS in a K12 education environment to manage student and staff Chromebooks, and we appreciate its manageability, ease of use, mass rollouts, and hands-off management through Google Admin. My favorite thing about Chrome OS is its ease of use for staff and students, and I love how light and versatile it is, without heavy software. I especially appreciate the point-and-click dashboard that allows us to push mass updates and organizational changes to devices effortlessly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chrome OS?

Chrome OS reporting into Google Admin can sometimes be problematic. There are times when information can be blank when pulling device reports. Additionally, the last device fields can be improved to tie better to users, as it sometimes shows blanks when students sign into others' Chromebooks in Google Admin. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chrome OS solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Chrome OS for manageability, ease of use, mass rollouts, hands-off management, and it being light and versatile. It helps push updates efficiently, reduces costs compared to Windows, and works well on older hardware. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast and Secure, but Limited for Heavy Software"

4/5

What do you like best about Chrome OS?

I really appreciate Chrome OS for its fast startup, which only takes about five to ten seconds, making it much quicker than other Windows laptops. I like its strong security with automatic updates and lower malware risk. It's also very helpful for using Google software like Chrome, email, and Docs, and requires low maintenance. Plus, I find it very user-friendly. I love that it's a great travel laptop because it's lightweight, and I use it for productivity, browsing, studying, coding, and entertainment. It's fast, stays smooth, and offers built-in security sandboxing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Chrome OS?

Sometimes I just feel like that heavy software support is not working properly on Chrome OS. Like, I am into Android development. If we're using Android Studio, which is a heavy application, sometimes it's like gaming limitations is one of the factors. I am not personally doing gaming. But if someone is doing gaming, so that's not an ideal laptop. Offline dependency is sometimes anywhere could be cloud-first, or some users feel limited without a stable connection. Advanced desktop workflow can feel more flexible on Windows or Linux. So, basically, these are the two points I feel that Chrome OS lacks behind some other OS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Chrome OS solving and how is that benefiting you?

I find Chrome OS fast, lightweight, and secure. It solves slow boot times with quick startups, has no driver issues like Wi-Fi or mouse, and offers low maintenance with automatic updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
