The user interface online can be challenging to learn at first. I wish there was one or two designated people helping us when we have questions. It seems that every time we have a question or need help, a different person helps us. Sometimes the person helping us is really great and super responsive. They handle everything I need handled. They answer questions quickly, even if I've asked it multiple times. They get the payroll right. They send notifications that your payroll is done. They send notifications if there was an "oops" on their end, which is pretty rare, before you discover it. They provide all the w-2's needed at the end of the year about 2 weeks before the due date. If your account person is not available, someone else is covering. They send in the payroll taxes to the state & irs. It's all pretty painless. As I understand it, they are much less expensive than their competition. I knew a sales guy for one of the other payroll companies, and he said in 4 years, he was never able to convert a Checkwriter's client to his national/regional payroll service. The interface is a bit odd. There are multiple times one clicks "submit", when it seems only one should be necessary. They also sequence things using the tabs at the top of the section rather than a "next" button down at the bottom. I have gotten used to this, but it seems a bit odd and more complicated than necessary. This could be because I have only 2 people, and these things are needed for more complicated companies with more complex payroll situations. It would be nice if there were an interface more streamlined for the small office. These are picky little things, but after 2 years, I still find them a bit jarring. Maybe I'm getting old! Whenever we have questions, which can be quite often, the kindest and brightest staff help us to figure things out, from running reports to setting up new functions or paycodes, the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The system is very complex and difficult to understand. We have had particular difficulties with acruals.
