**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oleg P. | Senior DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2020

**What do you like best about Check Point URL Filtering?**

I like that how easy it is to implement the new protecting mechanisms on Check Point in general - you just enable the new software blade and it's done. The Check Point URL Filtering blade is not an exception. After enabling, it's up and ready to serve - you may start using the "URL categories" in the security policies used by your Check Point Gateways and Clusters. I have found all the categories needed and even didn't have to create any new groups or domain lists manually - the Check Point team has a long experience in this field and have preconfigured everything in advance - the amount of the built-in categories is amazing.

**What do you dislike about Check Point URL Filtering?**

The Check Point Check Point URL Filtering software blade for version R80.10 we use in our company is efficient and mature product, so I didn't face any issues I could complaint about during configuration or maintaining this solution.

**What problems is Check Point URL Filtering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use the Check Point solutions to secure the environment of our company's DataCenter located in Asia. The Check Point URL Filtering software blade is one of the activated blades that increase the overall security besides the basic firewalling. It is integrated in the easy way - you enable the blades and after that may use the object that it provides - domain groups and URL categories - in the security policies consumed by Gateways and Clusters. I also like that the database of the categories is updated automatically, and on the regular basis, without additional actions from the administrator. I am also satisfied with the number and the quality of the pre-configured domain groups and URL categories - for example, I have blocked access from Pornography, Gambling and Cryptocurrencies sites from within the datacenter, so malware couldn't reach its command centers in case the machines would get infected somehow. That is easy, but efficient solution.

  ### 7. Firewall policy rules based on the website categories

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aleh P. | Senior DevOps Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2020

**What do you like best about Check Point URL Filtering?**

1. There are hundreds of pre-defined website categories in the built-in database.
2. You may create the custom categories or group the predefined categories into objects and simply use them in the firewall policy rules.
3. Granularity - it's possible to block access to specific pages of the website without blocking the general access to it.
4. Check Point provides the external URL Categorization portal where you could the the domain and it's categories.
5. The databases are updated on a regular basis and you don't need to install the security policy on the GWs to use the updated databases.

**What do you dislike about Check Point URL Filtering?**

We are completely satisfied with the Check Point URL Filtering software blade - it was easy to implement and configure.

**Recommendations to others considering Check Point URL Filtering:**

The categorization database is outstanding, and it's easy to use the websites categories in the firewall policy rules.

**What problems is Check Point URL Filtering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We protect the edges of our office environments with the use of Check Point NGFW solutions, with URL Filtering software blade enabled among the other security features. The purpose of this particular blade is to block/allow access to the websites based on the categories it belongs to, like news, social networks, education, pornography etc. We prefer to block all the categories not needed by our employees to improve their work performance.
Check Point URL Filtering provides great reporting and logging possibilities in the Smart Console - we monitor all the attempts to violate the security policies in the real time.
