Although they've made strides here, the tool is still heavily weighted towards real-time insights, which works great for big media organizations, but not as helpful for smaller brands with less users. My suggestion is - if you take the plunge - that you commit to the data Chartbeat provides for editorial insight, rather than trying to use Chartbeat alongside another traditional web analytics tool. A great solution for a news/media site that needs a constant stream of real-time data. Provides platform specific tracking and also include geographical targets. Almost instantaneous installation on our enterprise size news server grid. Our staff loved the up to the moment traffic feedback. We loved seeing how our traffic grew and moved through out our content each day with the intuitive dash board. For our News group Chartbeat really filled a gap in reporting. We had hoped at the time to use data from Chartbeat like an API to drive displays of popular content on the site but they didn't have an accessible API at the time. It's easy to implement the code, and set up a simple dashboard to show your website traffic in real time. Very useful for content creators and website owners to spot the traffic behaviour and track campaigns in real time. Email notifications about a website downtime come handy too to react right away. I love that I can see which pages users are currently viewing. It's like I'm a cyber-stalker for my own website. I don't know if there's another company like Chartbeat. If there is, I haven't heard of it. Where traffic is coming from as well as engaged time are both hugely-important to us, so it's great that those are both Chartbeat options. Social stats on the right side of the page are fine, but we don't really care about any of that since we do all of our social scheduling and monitoring through another tool. I do think that Chartbeat could do a little more for us. It's a super-simple interface (I'm not complaining--I'd rather it be simple than clunky and confusing), but it's just that--a really simple tool. Nothing mind-blowing or earth-shattering. We've also tried to use the insights we're getting from Chartbeat to guide our daily editorial workflow, but since things are constantly changing, we don't rely too much on such a fluctuating tool.
